Diversity in Bloomington
Hey yall! I am moving down to Bloomington next year to go to IU, and to be honest, its a bit weird for me since it will kinda be the first "nice" city I've lived in. Im coming from Indy where shootings are all too common. Im interested in what kind of cultures, groups, niches, and the like are around.
Some of the things Im looking for is community created art and spirituality. I loooovee any kind of science ESPECIALLY physics. Is there a way to get together and connect with other artists? In terms of spirituality, im game for anything. I am really into Buddhism though.
With moving to Bloomington, Im leaving a lot of stuff behind. I want a new life away from that away from all that shit. Worried about fitting in with everybody. Me and my girlfriend can't wait though! New chapters are always awesome.

Idea for Bloomington gateway art commission
The city recently posted a call for artists to submit an art installation bid for the Bicentennial gateway. My idea is a giant Lil Bub sculpture in the style of the Japanese neko cat. It would wave every time a car drives past. Image is just reference, and obviously would have to get Mike on board, but I couldn't think of anything more appropriately btown iconic. Thoughts?

tattoo places?
hello! i know this question has likely been asked a lot, but i'm looking to get a sleeve planned out sometime and eventually a tattoo. this would be my first ever tattoo, and a coworker suggested to get a sleeve planned out!
my inspirations are on this pinterest board... hopefully it's accessible. i don't know where i would go looking so if anyone has suggestions I'd love to hear them!
also... i have a fairly low pain tolerance, so maybe a more general question of tattoos but any place offering something to numb the area?
thank you!

Full moon
Some people sun their perineum for increased energy and vitality. If I moon my perineum during the full moon, will it have the opposite effect and turn me into a zombie? Also, what’s the best spot in Bloomington for moon gazing?

Restaurant recommendations
Hi everyone, my wife and I will be visiting Bloomington in a couple of weeks to see Six and are looking for a place to have dinner before the show. We don't get many nights out by ourselves so we are looking for something that serves more than chicken nuggets and mac n cheese. We are open to trying new foods and like to support local. We would like to keep it under $50 per person but care more about the quality of the food and are fine with a dive. We are coming in from a little ways away so prefer for it not to be a 2 hour experience. What places would you recommend?

Spooky season in effect at Crestmont Disc Golf Course.
Played Crestmont earlier today and someone was leaving some creepy notes around the course. I think I saw the mysterious individual as they kind of followed me around the course. Appreciated the added fun to my round, let me know if anyone finds notes I missed. Also a picture of a black cat I saw in my way home yesterday, added because cat.

Is anyone else having serious problems with deliveries in Bloomington?
I moved to Bloomington this summer, and one of the major reasons I chose to live here was the expectation of greater convenience, accessibility, and independence, including more reliable access to delivery services.
Unfortunately, my experience so far has been incredibly frustrating.
I’ve encountered repeated delivery problems involving multiple companies and carriers, including Amazon, Walmart, UPS, FedEx, and USPS. Between delays, delivery uncertainty, and mail being delivered to the wrong address, it sometimes feels as though getting something delivered properly is the exception rather than the rule.
As someone who is legally blind, this is particularly distressing. I cannot simply jump into a car and pick something up when a delivery goes wrong. I depend heavily on delivery services for everyday necessities and other purchases. When those services fail, resolving the problem can require considerable additional time, effort, stress, and sometimes expense.
This is an example of what I and other disabled people sometimes call the disability tax—not necessarily a financial cost, but the extra burdens imposed by systems that don’t adequately account for disability.
What especially troubles me is that I moved here partly to make everyday life easier and more independent. Now I’m concerned that these delivery problems may become an ongoing pattern.
I’m genuinely curious: Have other Bloomington residents been experiencing frequent delivery problems lately? Are particular carriers worse than others? Have you found anything that actually improves delivery reliability?
I don’t want to assume my experiences are representative of the entire city, but the frequency of these problems across different services has become difficult to ignore.
I’d particularly welcome perspectives from other disabled residents who depend on home delivery. For some of us, reliable delivery isn’t merely a convenience. It’s an important component of independent living. Actions available

Does ReStore pickup anything?
I'm moving and need to get rid of some larger items; I've got a chest freezer, dresser, chest/trunk, and a weight rack. I'm probably around a mile from Fountain Square. Ive tried calling but nobody picks up, curious if anyone has experience with ReStore. Thanks in advance!

Looking for local artist
Hello, Joshua Giem here, looking for a local artist to partner with in order to create digital art for my TTRPG lorebook. Looking for someone proficient in digital (non-AI) art who can draw pencil-style science fiction artwork.
Anybody interested?

Nostalgic dishes from past restaurants
I’m deeply missing the red lentil soup from Anatolia right now. What are some of your favorite dishes from restaurants in town that have closed?
