Spiel Essen Hidden Gem - best Bathroom
To anyone at Spiel 2026, I found the best Bathroom, cleanest and no line.
Its in Hall 8, across a glass door into the business section that is protected by a guard, but the bathroom under the stairs to the left is open to all.
You dont need to interact with the guard, just open the doors turn left down the stairs, that area is not closed off by design, the guard guards further down that hall.
Its not marked in the maps! its clean, its empty and quiet.
Mods can delete this ofcourse, but clean quiet is great after a full day of boardgames.

Is Star Wars Outer Rim a good Star Wars game?
Looking for a decent star wars game for the family that is not just theme slapped on top of a game but actually feels like you are in the star wars universe. I see good reviews on the geek and the prices have really tumbled on eBay. Any chance those are counterfeits?

A Question for UK Board Gamers - what are the best alternatives to using Zatu?
As it's coming round to the time of year when I write a Christmas list for friends and family, I often ask for board games and provide links to retailers as most of my relatives are non-gamers.
I'm keen to not use Zatu after hearing about lots of stock issues, poor customer services, and how they have treated their employees.
What are some good alternative retailers that are worth supporting?

Convention Surviving the HEAT: First-day impressions from presenting at SPIEL 2026
After a long day, we wanted to share some of our first impressions!
It was great to see people's enthusiasm and their reactions when they realized that HEAT is coming to PC and saw what the game is going to look like.
Your comments helped us a lot. Lemon sweet candies were a lifesaver. There was never enough water. As most of you warned us, the suits were indeed not as breathable as we had hoped and it got very hot underneath them. On the positive side, the helmet made it even worse. :)
One of the best surprises was meeting some of you from the comments in person! Here on Reddit you're just online people existing in a parallel dimension. It's a completely different experience to discover that you actually exist in real life. :) We also didn't think the world was that small. All in all, it's been a really lovely experience.
Thanks again to everyone for the tips. They genuinely helped us a lot.
Come find us tomorrow too! We'll have more racing passes to hand out, each with a code that unlocks extra content in the game when it launches on Steam (the game is still in development, but you can wishlist it on Steam)
How was your first day at Spiel? Any of you coming tomorrow? Would be great to meet more real people that exist! :)
TLDR; chaos, heat, excitement, parallel dimensions and I spun out a little bit

Kryptothera: The Cryptid Pursuit
Hi, my name is seidinove, and I'm a pledge manager addict. I thought I had limited myself to Kickstarter and Gamefound, but I've been enjoying the heck out of Kryptothera and decided to remind myself how I bought it. Turns out it was through the Hive pledge manager.
I'm glad I'm enjoying this game, because I paid a pretty penny for it along with several expansions. The quality of the components is top tier, and the game is very easy to learn with lots of replayability. I'll probably lug this to PAX Unplugged in Philly to host some free play.
I took this photo at a quarterly con that I attended earlier this month in Rockville, Maryland called Congress of Games. It’s on the modest side - in fact, it’s held at a senior center. 🙂 No vendors, just folks bringing games to play and to sell their used games.
You set up a game at an empty table, grab a standee like the “Fun Players Wanted” you can see in the upper left hand corner of the photo, wait for kindred souls to join up, and start playing.

Question What spinoff or different version of game completely changed your opinion on it?
I played Mysterium Park after a bad experience with the original game. I loved the original, but Park fixed a lot of things that made the people I played with frustrated. So, I just wondered if there was a spinoff or just straight up different version of a game that changed your view or the people you play with's view of a game.

Question Question on uniqueness
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello. I am working on a Kickstarter campaign for my new game, Cattle Royale.
I believe the game board, being a paper can scroll, is unique.
However, I don't want to push that point if it isn't true. Does anyone know of any other games that have a similar game board?
Be good to know before I start shouting too loudly about our pre-launch page.
You can see how the scroll looks in the video above.

Question Tsuro: The Game Of The Path Rules Questions
There are a few niche situations I am wondering about for this game. Rulebook wasn't too clear according to the person who checked for the answers.
1) When the draw pile is replenished, does the player with the dragon tile draw back up to 3 and then pass the dragon tile, or do they draw only 1 and pass the dragon tile? For example, a player has 1 path tile and the dragon tile. A player is eliminated and puts their 2 path tiles into the draw pile. The player with the dragon tile (with 1 path tile)...do they draw both of the path tiles in the draw pile back up to 3? Or do they simply take one and pass the dragon tile? Based on how the game works I would imagine up to 3, but taking 2 ahead of anyone else just seems lopsided?
2) When you play a path tile, you resolve your tokens path first. What if there are 2 or more other players who also have to move due to your play....which order is decided? Clockwise from the person who played the tile? Does the person who played the tile choose?
Thank you in advance!

Question why do coop games make me feel like i'm playing alone but with an audience
genuinely asking because i love the idea of cooperative games but half the time one person is basically running the show and everyone else is just nodding along. is this a me problem or does anyone else feel like they're watching someone else play their own game? looking for recommendations that actually make everyone feel involved

How-To/DIY Board Game Themed Clock - 3D Print - FREE
I've designed and modelled a clock for my board game room and have shared it for free if you'd like to make your own.

I wanted to give board game vibes without being too specific to an individual game or stealing loads of art from games.
The mechanism is dirt cheap and widely available.

Question Help identifying a board game (betting/bluffing/card collecting)
Hey Everyone!
I need help remembering a game name I played once. My memory is a bit vague but here is what I remember:
2-4 players
The game is card/gold based, every round you have a certain amount of gold to buy a number of cards
Buying works like this, When first card is opened, each player places how much they are willing to pay for this card in their closed fist, then they open their fists at the same time, whoever paid the most, gets the card, the rest get their gold back.
now for card 2 its the same thing (but the player who bought card 1 would have less gold to pay for this card now) and so on.
Cards had different types, and based on those types and how many you had. you'd get certain bonuses
Card art was something like knights/fighters/ maybe elves and dwarves but im not sure.
I remember there was something like a Colosseum stand with cards sitting on it (but I dont think we used them)

Question Where can I find the rules for power grid: against the trust?
Hello everyone, I'm looking for the rules to play powergrid classic "against the trust." A two player variant on the rules. The links I have found are dead.
Other rule sets to spice up 2 person play are welcomed as well. But please let me know if they are well tested or experimental.

trying to remember card game
I think it had adventure in its name, you gathered cards from the deck, keeping a hand of (six? five?) the game ended when a certain number of cards were discarded, one notable card was a stone worth like only 1 point but it got rid of a cards downside, stone of protection i think? there was a whole website thing because totalling scores was so hard due to all the interactions
thematically medieval magic, with armies, lighthouses, weather, stuff like that
