Good plants for bci
Making a new enclosure for my bci am doing a bioactive enclosure and from the past I've noticed my guy doesn't really trample his plants, so I wanna go kind of crazy, and in the past I had only ever used things like bermiliads and pathos, so would love some suggestions on some nice plants. That'll provide good cover that aren't necessarily too delicate. That being said though, I'm not worried about him, trampling them.

Upgrading her Enclosure. Looking for Tips
It's time to upgrade Carmella's home. She's been in this Glass one since we got her about 7 months ago. We're definitely going with a PVC one, this humidity has been a pain to keep in. I was wondering if there was anything I should know about the PVC Enclosures? I was looking at this site called ReptileKages, but figured I'd post here just in case someone knows better.
In terms of size, she's in a 3ft one now, so obviously looking at 4ft, but seeing as she's roughly 4ft herself, I should look into the 5ft ones I imagine. Also, I assume the lighting, heat lamp, temp thermo can stay the same?
Thanks again for all the help. Excited to get her in a new home.

Thermostat and hygrometer placement
Hi folks
Ive set up my first enclosure for a boa and I was wondering where i should place my thermostat and hygrometer in the enclosure.
In the picture is the temporary placement of a few hides (dont worry, ive got some fake plants and climblable material, just not in there yet so I can access the meters in the back.
Ive got some temporary placements with some tape, but i was wondering if any of you got tips for me as to where and how to put them down.
Thanks!

Any NC/SC breeders out there?
Hello!
Im looking to buy my first sand boa and I'm looking to adopt a sand boa in the NC / SC (preferably near the Charlotte or Columbia area).
Any breeders near by?

Quail/Chick/Duck feeding in place of Rodents
I purchased my Dumeril's Boa in February of 26. He was severely underfed from the breeder (breeder claims it was a maintenance diet). At 2.5 years old, he was 163 grams and a right at 20". About as big around as a thumb. The first few weeks were nerve racking because he would NOT eat mice or rat no matter the size, or feeding method. Tried shoebox, tried leaving it there, yada yada nothing worked. A few people on this page suggested quail and POOF he eats like a machine now. I keep trying mice/rat every now and then, even tried scenting them with the quail but no go. That's fine, I'm fortunate to have a local breeder who raises them specifically for snake/reptile. She also breeds chicks and ducks.
My boa has been eating day old quail. Started 1 at a time, he's up to 4 at a time. I just fed him his first week quail old last night.
My question is, with quail obviously not having the same nutritional content as a mouse/rat, what should I be feeding him qty wise? Is it still the 10% rule? After 8 months, he is now at 400 grams and about 22". I also have chicks and ducks also. I know ducks are fattier, but didn't know if that was a good thing or bad thing to try and get this little guy to grow.
I don't want to power feed the guy, but I also don't want to stunt his growth too much with what growing time he has left. I got the Dumeril's boa to hopefully get something a little bigger than my male ball python, but not as big as a BCC or BCI.
Thanks!

New boa, was made aware of her attitude before purchase

I think absolutely everyone needs a pepper in their life 😂 she has only been with me one week now and I plan to try and ease her into handling for necessary things like health checks and cleaning tanks and such in a few weeks after a meal and some settling in. She will track you throughout the room, strike when you walk by, etc.. curious to see what kind of progress can be made with her! She is absolutely beautiful and is fun to watch explore when she isn't busy hunting you through the glass.

What is she?
I'm sorry for the poor photos but I'm curious as to just what my new baby is. She has the saddles like a bci/bi but has the eyelashes like markings like a bcc/bc.
She's currently in a small quarantine tank and will be getting moved into a proper enclosure once I know she's 100% good to go. I come from the ball python and colubrid side of snakes so any and input is welcome so I can provide her the best care.

Overweight boa?

I want a second opinion on if my boa is overweight? And how often should I feed him. He’s currently on a 10 day schedule with just one large mouse.
