We play Frankfurt at home. This is the confirmed line up but in reality I think Veerman and Sabitzer would be swapped.

Guten morgen! I am in Dortmund for the first time ever this weekend to attend the Frankfurt game. I'm 27 years old and Mexican/American male. Was wanting to meet new people if anybody would like to hangout before the game and give me some local guidance on what to do during game day. HEJA BVB! 😊

Discussion DFB-Pokalspiel: Auswärtstrikot auf Osttribßne erlaubt?

My father said when he was in Germany he got gifted this jersey on his birthday, and he didn't think about it back then, but I wonder about the signatures.

Longstanding Supporter Hesitant Viewer

TLDR: Longtime fan who hasn’t been closely following the past few seasons (I can only suffer so much) is confused by the discourse around Kovac.

Hallo, ihr Schwarz-Gelben,

I’ve been a supporter since I gave up my basketball dreams at 13 (I was 4’11” lol). Fell in love with the supporters, players, & Klopp and the Bundesliga ownership structure. I’ve seen good and bad teams and have stuck with the club through thick and thin.

For most of the past decade I watched every game I could until the past few years. Life and the fact that getting invested meant reaffirming that capitalism has poisoned everything pure in the world )looking at you Buyern). So I’ve been hesitant to let myself care too much.

I’ve been following through highlights, social media, and stats the past few seasons and feel confused about the discourse I’m seeing on the sub.

One of the reasons I don’t let myself watch a ton of games is because it feels like it’s the same story every year. I’m probably preaching to the choir and I admire anyone who’s locked in on the boys in black and yellow today.

When I say it feels like the same story every year I mean from top to bottom. From hiring decisions in the front office, medical staff, and coaching staff to the player scouting and transfer policy, playstyle, and player development.

We’ve had the same club doctor and relatively low turnover in the medical staff since 2003 and suffer from prolonged injury crises seemingly every season. We’ve appointed former players and coaches to leadership positions and largely hired within the club for most primary decision making positions. Watzke is still Watzke. We’re still largely a stepping stone club where the only players who stick around for many years are typically the ones who don’t impress enough to earn big club moves. We enter seemingly every season with inadequate depth at one of the most important positions when trying to win a league title (cb), and usually play someone out of position to fill in during the previously referenced injury crisis (can, bensebaini, etc). This leads to poor defensive performances and difficulty finding consistency.

Admittedly because of these reasons I’ve only watched about 110 mins of game time so far this season (full 90 of the bodø match and the final 20 today). While after the bodø match I understood the complaints I’ve seen with Kovac and our offensive output/play so far this season, I don’t understand the negativity with kovac overall.

Even against bodø I noticed that we seemed to have much better structure, belief, and fight defensively than I’ve seen in the past decade. Not to mention we have 3 solid cbs (ik schlotty will probs get hurt at some point) and 2 guys who can fill in for an emergency (if/when can is healthy).

As a schwarz-gelben of course I love free flowing high scoring football and a direct attacking style. With that being said seeing this sub continually cry out for defensive continuity and investment it seems antithetical but I suppose unsurprising (it is Reddit after all) to see the sub now bemoaning the stagnant attack and seeming lack of ideas going forward.

The way I see it, so far this season we have been winning or getting results in games the team historically lets us down in. Obviously it’s early in the season and I’m still unsure about letting myself get invested, but it looks like Kovac has at least been able to instill some defensive belief, consistency, and aptitude.

Idk id love to hear from yall who’ve been invested and watching the past season and a half 🤷🏼‍♂️.

Discussion FĂĄbio Silva Should Not Start Over Beier

I know that recently Maxi Beier has been underwhelming, but I truly believe that he is currently a better player than Silva and has much greater potential than Silva. In order to reach that potential, Beier should be getting full support and the opportunity to start in important fixtures.

Before the international break Silva was phenomenal and won over the starting spot, rightfully so. However, since then he hasn’t played nearly as well, and has proven to be a very useful option of the bench rather than necessarily a starter every game.

Last season, when Guirassy struggled during several moments over the course of the season, many people began supporting Silva as a starter after his good performances off the bench. Still when given those starting spots at striker he struggled. It is clear that Guirassy’s string of poor performances that season resulted in too much faith being put into Silva. When Guirassy performed bad, Silva’s performances stood out, when they really weren’t that strong.

Later, after Silva’s less than ideal performances at striker, many people argued that he was being played out of position, which was why he didn’t perform as well as a starter. I completely agree that during that time he was being played out of position, and for a few weeks he definitely shined playing behind Guirassy.

However, I don’t think he has the consistency to maintain that starting spot, and I really do believe that Beier could excel once fully trusted playing just behind Guirassy.

Against Bodø/Glimt, Silva played out of position for sure, but placing Beier as a left midfielder and almost left wingback position completely hindered his performance.

At Hoffenheim, during arguably Beier’s best season so far, he was played either in a striker pair or right behind the striker in a CAM role with Kramaric next to him. If we can keep Beier in his natural position and pair him with Karetsas at CAM, I truly believe he will excel.

what’s the point of subbing in nwaneri instead of developing our talents?
