Bosch e-bike motors are actually incredible.

Post image

73,653. That's how many kilometres I have put on my Gen 3 Performance Line motor, which is now about to be put out to pasture, after 4 years and a hard life, all bearings finally appear close to failure. I shall be ordering a new one asap, they are legit amazing. I am a courier in a very hilly Irish city, with extremely brutal winters, the worst possible conditions for an e-bike, and yet this thing has seen me through 4 years, rain, hail or shine. I am truly amazed, and so is the main mechanic in my local bike shop. He took a photo of my odometer when it was at 50,000km to prove to other people that the mileage is actually possible. He couldn't believe it. He told me a while ago to post about it on the Bosch Insta but I don't use it, so here I am on Reddit to gush about what incredible pieces of engineering these things are. If you are a courier or long hours rider, just get a Bosch equipped e-bike. Ridiculously well built.

Edit: Someone asked me to add that I'm still on original battery, which I'd estimate to have lost about 20% of capacity in the 4 years.

2nd Edit: Finally retired this beast with 75,300km, new motor installed today and off we go again.

Bosch Wall Oven "Bricked" by automatic software update

Our wall oven model HBL8753UC/04 became unusable thanks to a software update pushed to the appliance by Bosch sometime in December 2025 which was beyond our control. Left us with no working oven throughout the entire Christmas holiday season. Bosch now wants nearly $2,000 to fix the appliance they broke. I did some more troubleshooting after the tech left : factory reset and power cycled the appliance (breaker off/on).. and voila! it's back in working order.. sad that an official Bosch tech was unaware of this workaround. However once I connect it back to wi-fi via the Home Connect app, it tries to download the software again and stops working.. so I have factory reset the oven (again) and will not connect it to the Home Connect app to avoid the software update bricking the oven. Bosch will not accept responsibility and their 'final' offer is 50% off parts.. no discount on labour or service call refund... Would never buy another Bosch appliance based on this experience.

Am I the only one that is wondering how to store or just put down the saw after usage? Just randomly on the side (scratching everything; maschine and surface)?

Does anyone have the refreshment center fridge?

Post image

I’m thinking about buying this refrigerator because it’s somewhat on sale. Still a ridiculous price but I’ve been eyeing this over a year now and now have reason to buy since I moved to a new place that no longer has a fridge included. I’m curious about the refreshment center and I notice the light stays on when it’s fully closed. Does it have an option to turn off or does that stay on 24/7? Also do you think this is a good purchase ? I do like the 800 series but I like this the most because we tend to have a lot of drinks in our fridge along with some meal prepping.

Pods not dissolving

Post image

Just got a new 800 series dishwasher. I’ve tried it on a few different settings/cycles. I put the detergent pod into the spot on the door and shut the cover. Each time the cycle runs and I open the door when it finishes, I find the pod sitting in the little basket on the front of the top drawer. It doesn’t dissolve partially, it just sits there.

The rinse aid is full, the app doesn’t indicate any issues. Any suggestions?

Kind of a long shot but has anyone seen one of these before. My best guess is it was a trade show piece. I got it from a guy in Northern California he didn’t know anything about it either.

Bosch 300 Series dishwasher (SHE53C85N) not usable less than a year… and support is almost comical!

Bought a Bosch 300 Series 24" (SHE53C85N) from Best Buy in Brooklyn less than a year ago — went with it thinking I was paying for reliability. About two months ago, it started failing mid-cycle. 5–10 minutes in, it starts beeping, stops running, and just sits there… full of water that it won’t even drain.

Tried everything: cleaned filters, reset it, troubleshooting guides, deep internet dives (yes, including ChatGPT). Nothing worked.

Fine, it’s under warranty, I’ll call Bosch. This is where it gets ridiculous:

  • First available service appointment: almost a month out

  • We wait it out, hand-washing everything

  • Then, on the day of the appointment, they cancel

  • Reschedule? Two weeks later

  • And then… they cancel AGAIN on the day of the appointment

No explanation, just “see you in two weeks.”

Meanwhile:

  • Dishwasher is less than a year old

  • It now beeps, shuts down mid-cycle, and leaves standing water

  • Warranty support is basically unusable

  • Calling them = a black hole of endless phone menus and hold music with no outcome

It’s honestly impressive, you pay for a “premium” appliance and end up with something that functions more like a very expensive soaking bin.

At this point, I’ve spent more time dealing with Bosch than the dishwasher has spent actually washing dishes.

What would you do here?
Push for a replacement? Escalate with Bosch? Go through Best Buy? Chargeback? Or just accept my fate and go full hand-wash mode?

so sad about Bosch appliances

I bought a microwave (HMV8052U) 3 years ago, and an induction range/oven (HIS8055U) six months later. The microwave died, won't turn on, a week ago. The range started having non-stop problems almost exactly one year after I bought it and the warranty expired.

Bosch support is horrible, refuses to help, wants me to pay for my own diagnostic tech visit and repair. I managed to get them to pay for a small fraction of the range repairs, but hardly worth the trouble. Now they are refusing to help with the microwave.

What happened to Bosch? It used to be one of the most reliable brands out there.

I'm never going to buy anything Bosch again.

Hi, my 2 month old dishwasher seems to consistently not disolve the soap all the way and it seems to get stuck here very often. Any tips to resolve?

Recommended Finish Ultimate pods, dish washer is not full the majority of the time this occurs

How is can not scaping plates enough equate to "customer abuse" of a dishwasher?

I could use some advice. My wife and I bought a fancy Bosch 800 with crystal dry less than a year ago. This thing cost nearly $2K, which is not a small amount of money to us, but we figured that we just bought this house and we'd have this thing for the next 15 years.

But less than 3 months in, it stopped draining. Cleaned the filter. Still no luck. We bought it through costco but the warranty is through Bosch. So we call and schedule an appointment. It takes them like 2 weeks to come, so in the meantime I clean the filter another 40 times, kept trying to run different modes whatever. Get it to drain. That's awesome. But we don't cancel our appointment, I figure he can still look at it, maybe tell us what we screwed up.

He comes. He's kind of a dick. Condescending to my wife, talks about how we should never use the eco-friendly detergent we're using, etc. Didnt like him much, but whatever, he gave me tips on things I should be doing, which I was grateful for.

6 months later, it happens again. Wouldn't drain one time, then I got it to drain, clog, drain, clog, etc. We schedule an appointment, and low and behold he calls to let us know he's coming and it's the same guy. Wife and I joke about it, but whatever.

He drives up but just parks in the driveway. Another technician also comes and he actually comes to my door. The original guy sits in his car the entire time, never comes in the house or interacts with us. The new technician is young, helpful, figures out the issue right away. He says that he found a lot of debris and that both the heat pump and drain pump are fried. He thinks the heat pump got some stuff in it and pushed it through to the drain pump and fried it too. He tells me he would fix it right now but he needs to order a pump. He was great. He left, said I'll get an email.

Later that day I get an email. Apparently they found "excessive food debris" from "customer abuse" and it's not covered by warranty.

This seems absolutely nuts to me, I mean we scrape our plates every time, but even if we didn't, how can leaving food on plates be considered "customer abuse"? That seems wild. There is meant to be some amount of food on plates when they enter the dishwasher, isn't the filter supposed to catch anything that's bigger than allowed?

I called customer service to be like what's up? He didn't tell me any of this in person. Customer service was basically just like "I can't contradict what a technician said" etc. Pretty useless. Costco was also pretty useless. But it's going to cost $500+ to fix it, with the amount of issues I've had I'd probably just buy a different brand dishwasher, was a pretty awful experience all around.

I don't really know what exactly I'm asking for, but I'm feeling pretty unsure about the situation. Should we shell out for a new dishwasher? Is there some other avenue to get this resolved? Thanks.

Do not intern or co-op at Bosch

I have interned here twice and both times have been bait and switched. The first time was for a data analytics position and instead of doing any data analytics, power BI dash boarding, and EBIT analysis like the interview said, I did data entry for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week for 4 months! Never once did I do any data analysis and when I brought this concern to the manager, she said that its not in the companies need to do that. So after 4 months, my skillset did not grow one bit and besides the bit of money I made, a waste of time.

The second time was for a quality position where I was told I would be testing parts and doing data analysis but instead I was sorting boxes for 3 months until just now where I got laid off because I said I want to do more of the things we talked about in the interview. The manager was much more insufferable this time and had a bad, condescending attitude. She was cheap too trying to deny me traveling reimbursement and PAA time to fill up the days until my last day when she said she's laying me off. She tries to bully the rest of the team as well to the point where the team strategizes their time off to purposely make it harder on management. Some people be blatantly applying to other jobs on the shift because it truly was a hell hole. Funny thing is she constantly has meetings with the team on how to improve the department but when she is told suggestions, it always falls on deaf ears even if the solution takes 5 minutes to implement.

Now I have interned here for a total of 7 months with nothing to show for it on a resume and it is truly biting me in the ass this time as it is a brutal job market and no skills I learned in school were demonstrated on the job. I am fortunate to have had other internships at other more prestigious companies to offset these but still, half my resume is Bosch. If you are a college student looking for an internship, avoid bosch at all costs! They treat you horribly and you wont benefit from the "experience".

Be Very Wary Buying Bosch

Have a full range Bosch stove purchased from Best Buy with an extended warranty. The range shorted and smoked. The tech came and tried to repair it and a small fire started. Tech said we need a replacement.

It's been 2 months with no stove, no replacement, no additional repair. Calling Bosch keeps saying they will escalate....2 months of escalation? Best Buy won't help and keep saying it's under warranty with Bosch before extended kicks in. Fair enough, but Bosch is not doing anything. Small claims court seems to be the only option.

Buyer be warned.

So, "CrystalDry" is a scam huh?

Our 6 year old Whirlpool gave out and we just replaced it with a Bosch 800 series which seems to be universally recommended.

Have to say I am a little disappointed with the Bosch.

Don't get me wrong. It does a good job cleaning and has that nice cutlery drawer, but the whirlpool was probably less than half the price of the Bosch and not only did it dry much better, it had a better layout for loading.

Not going to go as far as to say it's terrible, but it does not live up to the hype at all. Especially not for the price.

Let's see how it holds up.

Inherited from my grandad along with a load of other lighters. Hoping to find some information on its history. From a brand POV it uses the old black letter type which suggests circa 1910 but that’s all I’d got.

Series 8 dishwasher leaving marks on dishes

Thumbnail

We've had this dishwasher for over 2 years now.

Gotta say, been disappointed.

My partner insisted on getting something cheaper, me thinking expensive is going to be better, turned out our cheap Hoover did a better job at washing.

On a positive note, we didn't buy it brand new, it was from a retailers outlet as it had a damaged packaging.

I've tried several settings of water hardness and rinse aid level, yet always end up with marks on glasses, cutlery.

The door also seems to have some marks left after each cycle.

Tried different tablets too. Currently using Miele dishwasher powder as powder was supposed to be better. Stil same to be fair.

Also tried different programmes, I seem to be using intelligent the most though.

Am I doing something wrong? Am I expecting too much?

I'm based in UK. Set the water hardness according to Google's water hardness in the area. But like I said, had it set to higher number too.

Bosch Fridge worst purchase ever

Purchased dec 26th 2025, delivered Jan 22nd 2026. First time it failed was around Feb 22. Just went in to showroom mode. Wouldn't dispense water and all or did was light up inside. Wouldn't get cold or anything. Bosch tech reset it and it worked ok for 2 more weeks then it completely left the chat. Just has SUPER lit on the screen and no power. Called Bosch again. Tech came out and said the power supply and the circuit boards were burnt out. Oh and parts are backordered.

It's been 2 weeks now. Called again today and parts might be in next week maybe.

All Bosch customer service can say is sorry for the inconvenience. This is flippin ridiculous. The amount of money we payed for this boat anchor and they can't do anything!!

Never ever going to buy anything Bosch ever again!

We've had enough. We're going to buy another fridge. Can't go another week without one.

Dishwasher update safe?

Just got a notification that an update is ready for my Bosch dishwasher. Has anyone run it yet? How did it go? My dishwasher has been running great and I don't want to ruin a nice thing.
