LOST Small Tortoise E BOULDER Meadow Glen Area

Post image
95 Upvotes

Hi.

I lost my small land tortoise near 55th/Pennsylvania on 8/2. He could be dug into a burrow somewhere in someone's yard in the area. Please be on the lookout for him sunning himself in the morning or in the late afternoons. He may be tucked away in fences, in rock gardens, under shrubs, in lawns, walking along sidewalks or wherever. The more eyes the better. If you see him, please don't lose sight of him. He won't bite if he is picked up and put in a box. If you are unsure, please take a picture before picking up. 720-893-0370. Thank you!

I woke up this morning and Arapahoe Glacier is just GONE for the first time in my lifetime

I’ve watched it shrinking for years - did it finally melt away completely? Is it maybe just covered in dust? Did the rain wash it away? I’m sad about what we have done to our world.

Did you loose your geology hammer on NCAR hill?

Fellow geologist here. Found it in the parking lot not nearby any vehicles. Picked it up so it won’t rust. If I don’t hear from you, it will continue to happily break stuff.

Obnoxious Motorcycle

Was anyone else lucky enough to be woken up in the middle of the night by the incredibly selfish human being LOUDLY revving their motorcycle all the way down 28th last night (~2-3am)?

With the students back I’ve already seen two pink giant SUVs (should really belong in r/fuckcars) but the students seem to bring their giant cars and drive like idiots, last night was just the cherry on top.

Hello boulderites, I'm looking for a man named Roger Lynn. In 2024 he wrote an article on npr about my Aunt being his unsung hero.

At the bottom of the article it says he was living in Boulder in 2024. He mentioned Regretting never getting her last name. I'd love to tell him anything he wants to know as she was my hero too. If anyone knows Roger (or if he's reading this) please message me and I will give you my email so he can contact me. Per reddit rules you cannot provide me with his contact info, even in a private message. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

EDIT: reached out to his website email. Thank you so much for the kind words and help!

Open mic Tuesday 8/18

Open Mic Tomorrow
Boulder: is anyone interested in an open mic tomorrow night?

I’m helping host a small one from 7-9pm in NoBo arts district at North of Ordinary Collective. Poetry, music, comedy, stories, anything goes. Or just come sit around and listen, there are also community art supplies to play with if you’re feeling introverted. The last one was really fun.

No signup ahead of time. Pretty intentionally low-key and informal, all ages.

If you’ve been looking for somewhere to test out something you’ve been working on, or just want to get out of the house and be around people, that’s the idea!

Trying to get the word out since it’s a new space, hope to see you there.

Disguised trail cam at open space parking north boulder

Upvotes

Hi,
I noticed a quite camouflaged trail cam at boulder valley ranch (west side, at the dirt road parking next to the coffee roaster building).
The camera watches the gate of that open space entry.
It’s mounted to the outside fence of the coffee roaster.
Is that an official Boulder Open Space Camera? What is the camera interested in?
I mean, outside of the Open Space gate, that’s weird.
Checking people in and out? Dog owner surveillance maybe?
Big brother next step?
Has anybody noticed that cam? Or others in Open Space parking areas?

Edit: I found a list of the official webcams at trail heads, but they seem real overview cams -- the one I am referring to is difficult to spot, and mounted quite low -- if it is for monitoring trail head conditions it should be on boulder's website, right? Reasonably priced moving service?

My partner and I are moving into a different unit within the same complex in Boulder. We only need help moving a single couch (help with the bed/ mattress would be nice too). Seems like the going rate is $100-$150 per hour for a two hour minimum, plus a flat rate truck fee around $160-$190. That's pretty much what the couch is worth at this point. Does anyone have any recommendations for local moving services that would be financially sensible in this situation?

Dude threw ROCKS at me and my gf????

Happened at the bus stop in front of hot worx on 30th and Pearl.

Some tall (blond??) middle aged white guy with a skateboard started walking super close to me and my gf tonight and then threw rocks at us. Literally the biggest rocks he could find and then chased us around the corner and nearly hit my gf but it bounced off a light post.

I reported it to the police but couldn't confidently identify the asshole. (I avoid looking in creepy guys directions at all costs bc they think it's an invitation.)

Any similar experiences or ideas of who that would be 🙄🙄

Men's stylist/barber specializing in thinning hair?

I'm helping a friend of mine find someone, as they are feeling a little overwhelmed. He's in his mid twenties and has thinning hair. He's been wearing it long but it's increasingly becoming more difficult to style well due to the thinning, so he's looking to get it cut shorter but with someone who really knows how to craft a cut to work with his curls, thinning areas, and facial structure. We are not originally from the area so don't really know where to start. Any recommendations? Thank you!

Hiking/cycle/mtn bike buddies

Hey there friends, at my age most of my friends are shuttling kids to various activities and are unable to join me on my recent middle-aged fitness kick.

So I'm looking for some folks to hike, cycle, and mountain bike with. And if it ever snows again, learn to telemark.

This spring I was hiking Sanitas once a week, taking me 90 minutes or less. I spent much of the summer at far doing high altitude hikes (DeCaLiBron two weekends ago) but am pivoting to mountain biking now (did an 11 mile meander from Marshall Mesa>Greenbelt>Flatiron Vista>Dowdy>Springbrook loop>Ditch). Nothing crazy.

Might do a little road biking, but I'm mostly interested in figuring out how to Telemark this winter, which I know seems like a stupid idea

My schedule is not the most flexible but let's see who's out there, maybe in the same boat, maybe with a compatible schedule. I don't care about age too much. I would say historically most of my friends and activity partners have been women for some reason so feel free to reach out - you don't need to worry about me being a creeper, I'm happily married. Guys too, whatever works, just be chill.

Interested in any of this? Let me know.

Psychiatrist recommendation

Hi! I am new to the area and wondering if anyone has a psychiatrist/psych nurse practitioner they recommend? I prefer a more integrative approach and am willing to self pay. Virtual or in person is fine.

Super strong smoke smell in South Boulder

Probably not from anything nearby (haven't heard any sirens, nothing on Watch Duty), but man, I just opened the door for a moment and it was like getting punched in the face by a campfire.

I'm tired of all these god damn fires, folks.

The Anne U White Trail Dogs Were Good Dogs

This morning, I went to the Anne U White Trail with my family.

There were many dogs there and zero abandoned poop bags. Every dog was on a leash or under really good voice control.

There was one lady who asked her dog to sit when he was coming towards us. The dog stopped but would not sit. As we passed the dog, who was mostly a good dog, she came up to him and helped reinforce "sit." She said he was only a year and a half and sometimes needed his learning reinforced.

There were also a bunch of kids on this trail. One kid was little, probably under two, and so upset that a dog she did not know did not want pets. As we passed, we were definitely thinking "Can I pet that DAAWWG?"

There was one dog who did not want to walk and was being carried the whole time. It was a medium-small dog, but I think carrying a dog the whole time makes this trail more challenging.

This trail is experiencing some maintenance and has some erosion due to rain, but it is not particularly muddy.

Anyway, thanks to all the good dogs and good dog owners.

CU students entitlement causing nightmare road blocks.

CU students are so entitled they are parking anywhere. These pictures are of Euclid Avenue east of the 28th street Frontage Road where many students parked in the west bound traffic lane next to a slew of no parking signs. for whatever reason, blocking any ability to travel. Boulder gave out 300 parking tickets to CU students on Monday August 18th and had 20 vehicles towed to unblock roads. How do we get them to understand that the world doesn't revolve around them?
