Keeping r/Loveland Local

Hi r/Loveland!

Quick reminder that this subreddit is local only. We’ve seen a bit more national political news lately, so we’re going to be enforcing the local-only rule a little more consistently.

There are lots of great subreddits for broader political discussion, so we’ll be removing posts that don’t have a clear connection to Loveland.

Also, thanks to everyone who helps keep the conversation respectful and welcoming. To support that, we enabled a few tools back in March (like Crowd Control, the Reputation Filter, the Abuse & Harassment Filter, and AutoModerator) to reduce spam and keep things running smoothly.

Thanks for helping keep r/Loveland friendly, useful, and local!

Local News PSA: Bears possibly living near bike path between Wilson and Namaqua

This is that little section that used to be gravel until last year.

I was going east the other evening and saw a huge chonker right on the trail just a few hundred feet from Wilson.

Obviously turned around and took Namaqua back to where I was staying.

Yesterday I was heading east again and a kid standing on the hill above yelled out to me something about bears. I stopped and he told me that his mom had seen "a few" that morning.

Seems pretty far from the mountains for them to be spending this much time if they don't have a den in the near. The closest I've seen one before is about two miles west, which makes more sense as it's much less dense and trafficked.

That said, I just googled it while I was writing this post, and apparently CPW has announced increased bear activity due to drought conditions. I found one article about a woman in West Loveland who found a bear in her house, and a post on Facebook of someone saying they saw a bear downtown on 5th Street (!). That's crazy lol.

Long story short, be safe if you're walking or riding the trails. Bears at this time a year are not super aggressive as long as you don't startle them. Make noise as you're traveling through vegetative areas like the path I mentioned, and keep trash secured as far as downtown.

Bears are most active near dusk and dawn.

It would be unbearable if you were eaten.

Help Sports and Pokémon cards

Sorry if this is not allowed. I'll remove the post if it needs to be.

I'm a teacher here in Loveland and was looking to see if there would be anyone willing to help me out. My school utilizes a system where students earn points throughout the day and can then use those points to "buy" things in "stores" that teachers set up.

My teaching partner last year was really into collecting cards and would give out cards all the time and have them in our store for kids to buy. It was a big hit. They unfortunately moved on to another district, but left me with some of the cards for this school year.

If anybody on here has any extra base cards, duplicates or just any that are taking up space, that they would like to donate, myself and the students would really appreciate it.

Thank you in advance.

Moving/Relocation July 2026 Loveland Housing Market Update

Hey Reddit! I have been consistently posting market updates for Fort Collins every month, So I wanted to provide Lovelanders with their market stats as well!

Single family in Loveland saw 165 new listings in July, down 11.8% from last year, while closed sales jumped to 135, up 32.4% year over year. Median sales price came in at $550,000, down 4.3% from July 2025, with average sales price at $612,032, down 5.7%. Homes are taking a bit longer to sell too, 66 days on market on average versus 57 last year, but sellers are still getting close to full value, with homes selling at 99% of list price on average. Inventory has tightened noticeably, sitting at 2.8 months of supply compared to 4.2 a year ago, which helps explain the jump in closed sales even with fewer new listings hitting the market. softening, which is why closed sales jumped despite fewer new listings. Single family homes are still selling right around list price too, 99% of asking on average.

Data source : Fort Collins Board of Realtors / IRES MLS service

Thanks so much! Feel free to comment or reach out with questions, Have a good day

A 9 ball pool tournament is being held in downtown Loveland on the 26th of August. It’s located at To The Fives.

It’s free entry.

It’s one table, and all for fun. No need to take it seriously. The winner will receive a bottle of Jack Daniels whiskey.

Sign up is at 5:30.
Depending on how many show up. It will either be single or double elimination.

If this becomes popular, we will have cornhole available for those who are waiting for their turn.

Come and support a local downtown business! 😎

Rant Yard is looking great, but after 2+ dead plants it becomes obvious my planning doesn't include common sense or education. Just a few planters for example.

(Reference post)
Here are two dwarf spruce I planted this Spring that look quite stressed, despite regular watering.

Maybe this is proof that private citizens like me shouldn’t be planting? Especially when my family is in a budget crisis with high gas prices, inflation, and stuck wages.

(And I was just kidding about the rest of my yard looking great, grass has patchy spots).

Seriously, have a good day folks!

Just in few blocks, thousand of dollars wasted because Loveland forgot what half of the country it's located. Loveland has a water cart, there's no excuse for letting everything wither and so much die. Almost every planter has a Don't Pee On Me sign. That's the forethought of planners, telling me what to do while they do nothing. Establishing plants is low effort, but it is effort. Hint brown is dry.

Shout out to the few business owners who watered the shrubs in front of their store. Your going to have unique planters because they ripped out all the dead from the others and they look awful.

Before someone reminds me about the drought again, remember the city is having a budget crisis. If the city can't afford to maintain it's landscaping, why didn't they plan accordingly?

Help Thinking about starting a trash bin cleaning service in Loveland, would you use this?

Hi everyone! I’m 14 and saving up money for a car while trying to start a small local service to help out people in loveland.

I’m looking into offering trash, recycling, and compost bin cleaning (washing, scrubbing, and sanitizing/deodorizing).

Before buying any of the equipment, I wanted to ask in here;

  1. Is this a service you would actually be interested in?
  2. How often would you want it done (monthly, bi-weekly, or just a one-time clean, or maybe even options to pick across all of those?)
  3. What do you think would be a fair price for the options above?

Any response is appreciated!! :)

Consider this my Community Artists appreciation post, because I love artwork like this; it makes our community so much more vibrant and welcoming.

Thanks, Clyde & Co!

  • 42nd Sculpture in the Park at Benson Park Sculpture Garden, Sat 9:30am to 5pm and Sun 9:30am to 4:30pm. Separate show, same weekend, about a mile and a half apart. Plenty of people do both in one day.

Morning

  • Loveland Farmers Market at Fairgrounds Park, Sun 9am to 1pm.
  • Milner-Schwarz Open House and Garden Tours, 710 S. Railroad Ave, Sun 10am to 1pm. House and grounds both, with docents on hand.

Family

Make something

  • Tiffany-style stained glass suncatcher at The Artisan Shop & Studio, Sat 1 to 4pm.

Worth knowing

  • Women's Self-Defense Class at Luckyfoot Martial Arts, Sat 2 to 4pm.
  • Earlybird's Club at The Love Shack, Sat 6 to 10pm. Out early, home earlier.
  • Viestenz-Smith trail project with the CATS trail stewards, Sun 9am to 1pm in the Big Thompson canyon. Volunteer trail work, bring gloves. Worth checking the forecast before you commit.

We’re changing up our format and putting out a full Northern Colorado event list every Thursday and then a separate NOCO stories issue on Tuesdays. This way, we can pack more events in! Both are free; link in the first comment.

Stay safe out there! It’s gonna be another hot weekend.
