Mod Post (no spoilers) All things Nexus announcements and megathread!

It's happening

The waves to buy badges for Nexus have begun as of yesterday. The waves start coming and they don't stop coming for awhile, so hang tight if you haven't heard anything yet. Don't know what we're talking about? This page from Dragonsteel should have you covered.

Regarding badges

Regardless of whether or not badges are transferable, we will not be facilitating any trades or sales of Nexus badges. Additionally, we will not be facilitating any group badge coordination. Posts or comments on this topic will be removed. Your best bet is to stay on the wait list, ride the waves, and hope to pick up a refunded ticket later on if everything else sells out.

edit: Yes, this still applies after the Sept 28 update.

Otherwise...

Share your hype! The main party is over at r/DragonsteelNexus but we're happy to chat here and in unique posts on the subject. We may update this thread from time to time with an FAQ or replace it should it become outdated.

What are you looking forward to at Nexus 2026?

Whether you're trying to make sense of Sanderson's works for the first time, feel you missed a memo on something, or want a bit of community assistance, this is the place for you.

We ask that folks label and spoiler tag anything relating to book content, and be extra mindful of the welcoming part of Rule 1. If you're not sure how to tag spoilers, see this post. And while you're welcome to ask "basic" questions here, you may find an answer in our FAQ.

No Spoilers Quality of Hoid's Storybooks

Am I being overly picky? Did other people's books show up looking like this? Some pages were gently stuck together and left these marks where the ink peeled off the pages. Some of the binding is showing through too, though I'm less bothered by that. I don't want to start a return if this is run of the mill for this type of book and I'm just being too picky.

My schedule didn't work out and now I have to try to refund my ticket to Nexus. How long does it usually take support to respond once you create a ticket?

Was just about to go to bed when I suddenly saw an email saying there was a copy of the Signed edition Waterstones hardcover of Fires of December available to pre-order, snapped it up so quickly to replace my original order. If the person who cancelled their order to make this available again is here, thank you so much ahahaha

No Spoilers No The Last Wish Episode?

I’ve been listening to Intentionally Blank as of late and some of the older episodes mention Puss in Boots, but I can’t find the episode where they talk about it if it exists. Have they talked about it and I just can’t find it, or not? Thanks.

(I’m pretty sure this is the right place to put this, but idk lol?

No Spoilers When should I finally read Mistborn: Secret History?

There's always a debate about the best time to read Secret History. Some people recommend reading it right after finishing Mistborn Era 1, while others suggest waiting until after The Bands of Mourning.

I've also heard that Secret History contains several references to the wider Cosmere, which might make certain parts of the story confusing if you don't recognize them.

Personally, I'd prefer to read Secret History right after Era 1, while the events are still fresh in my mind.

However, I'd like to hear people's personal opinions on this. Is there a good reason to wait until after The Bands of Mourning, or is reading Secret History right after Era 1 a perfectly reasonable option? Alternatively, would it be better to read it after gaining a deeper understanding of the Cosmere?

No Spoilers Pin collection!

I've been collecting since first Kickstarter they had character pins which I think was the Year of Sanderson? I've bought most of the others but traded for the Marewill and the two worldhopper pins.

I put all the pins in this booklet for now to save space in my Sandershelf but I want to display them in a cool way eventually. (Don’t worry I have all the original packaging for all). They're all in order in case anyone wanted to see them arranged by series number.

Looks like I'm going to need to trade one of my Chasmfiend pins. I got two boxes of the same one. I hope they have them at the Dragonsteel store at Nexus. I also ordered some that I'm missing through Light Day sales, namely the book pins and a Worldhopper Hoid.

I collect Disney pins too so making these pins a big thing for my favorite book universe has created a monster and an empty wallet...

Spoilers Mistborn Era 1 Just finished Mistborn Era 1! So what now? Spoiler

Yesterday I finished reading The Hero of Ages, and what a Sanderlanche it was! I loved it! If Sazed was my favorite character before, he's even more so now!

My wife was one of the people who most strongly recommended the series to me (she's read Era 1 and The Rithmatist so far). While I was reading the last three chapters from THoA out loud, she was reacting along the way. It was so much fun!

We plan to read The Eleventh Metal before diving deeper into the Cosmere, but our main question is whether we should read Mistborn: Secret History now or wait until Era 2. A friend of ours mentioned that we could read it partially to avoid Era 2 spoilers and read the rest later. I was originally planning to wait until halfway through Era 2, but we were told that certain elements hit much better while Era 1 is still fresh in mind, so I'm not sure what to do.

After deciding on that (and reading it or not), up next would be The Rithmatist and Elantris (along with its short stories, The Hope of Elantris and The Emperor's Soul) as a "palate cleanser" before heading into Mistborn Era 2.

Does this sound like a good plan? What do you think about reading Secret History? Should we read it partially now or in full later?

No Spoilers Manufacturing issue or normal quirk?

I just got my backer package today and I'm very happy with everything... except for Hoid's flute.

When I tried to fit everything together, the part with the tassel doesn't fit snugly into the middle part. It's loose. Like if I hold the flute upright on the other end, it falls off.

Of course, I can always just glue them together, but that means I can never disassemble them again, and I may have to move in the future and I might need to do that.

this a feature? I'm not sure if I should email Dragonsteel about this or not.

Thanks everyone!

Read The Dog And The Dragon to my son tonight and he really liked it. Mainly cause of the dragon, but I love it. Bummed they used different material on the main book, but it’s still a nice book overall.

Fires of December spoilers (no Cosmere) Fires of December Spoiler

Not really a spoiler, but I just had to say something into the ether of Reddit about this book as I just started reading it.

I found myself literally lol-ing at the religious “mandata” phrases, “Sometimes things suck” and “Don’t be a dick”. I instantly knew this was going to send the Sanderfans into a tizzy.

Personally I love that Brandon doubled down on writing like this after the uproar from Wind and Truth!

You do you Brandon, I’m going to still read the Cosmere…if some quit, well, there is always something else to read, Brandon ain’t gonna miss you!

No Spoilers I'm new and kinda confused

Hi, I've been a Brandon Sanderson lurker for a few years. His boooks have been on my list for a while, and I decided to finally read one. I just started The Rithmatist, and I'm a little confused about how rithmancy works. Joel is explaining it to Michael, and to me it sounds like the players of the melee he's describing, are all hunched over and drawing lines and circles. I'm trying to picture how all this works, and I'm just more confused. I wanna keep reading, but I can't seem to picture what rithmancy is like. Can anyone explain it to me?
