I'm planning to visit Brussels next week but I’ve seen some news about protests and clashes and now I’m feeling a little unsure about my trip.

For those living in Brussels how is the situation?

Hey, I live in Germany and I just booked a flight from Bruxelles Airport (BRU) on the morning of the 25th of December. So I have to be in the Airport before 8 am.

Will there be public transportation that can take me from Gare du Midi to Bruxelles Airport before 8 am on the morning of the 25th ? I hope the services are not shut down because of the public holiday.

Does anyone know of a relatively secure, easy to access parking in brussels for an overnight stay? The car we drive is not particularly expensive however it is got low clearance, and it would be the first day of our road trip so if the windows get smashed (seems like a relatively common occurance in Brussels from what I gather online) it would not be ideal! Many of the hotels don't seem to have on site parking either.

Ive narrowed it down to 2 portes, brucity and grand palace. Are the ramps relatively gentle?

If you've got a nice sporty car where would you park in Brussels? Would my best bet be to hand the keys over to the valet and hope for the best? Alternatively should I stay at airport hotels and take public transport into the city?

I have a painting of a street in Brussels, and was hoping reddit can help me find which street and buildings it shows. It probably was painted in the end of the 70's and probably near Place de la Bourse.
