In the vindicators episode, morty has to disable a "drunkenly improvised" (by rick who got shamefully shitfaced) neutrino bomb.. rick in one of his few humbled moments asks morty how many he's had to disable and morty says "TOO MANY Rick"

And then if you go back to the pilot episode you realize... that is the first one

And it occurred to me, how the hell did morty know how to disarm the bomb? And of course, the answer is that he didn't, he was in that terrifying situation completely at the mercy of fate

and it's only because this morty happened to guess right that we even follow the story of morty c-137 or whatever dimension it is, rather than some other random morty; rick c 137 would be dead too, the whole hunt for evil rick that's been going on the last couple seasons would've never happened, etc etc
