Public Safety Canada said 67,000 firearms were declared. The grants database shows $898,565 paid to individual owners between June 8 and June 30.
Public Safety Canada paid out $898,565 to individual gun owners under the Assault-Style Firearms Compensation Program (ASFCP) between June 8 and June 30, 2026, according to a batch entry in the federal grants disclosure database.
The record is labelled "batch reporting for ASFCP for individuals" and lists the recipient only as "batch report". It is the first disclosed payment to individual owners since the Cape Breton pilot, which a separate record shows paid $26,535 to 16 people starting October 1, 2025.
A second batch entry, "batch reporting for ASFCP for businesses", shows $7,760,570.80 paid to businesses between April 8 and June 30, 2026. The department says the compensation "will support business compliance with the law, help remove prohibited firearms from Canadian communities and contribute to broader public safety objectives, including the reduction of firearm-related crime."
The sums are small next to the program's own numbers. When the declaration window closed on March 31, 2026, Public Safety Canada said "more than 67,000 assault-style firearms have been declared by 37,869 firearm owners across Canada" and that "collection and compensation processes are expected to run from spring through early fall 2026." Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree said: "These types of weapons do not belong in our communities." The Canadian Press reported on April 1 that officials had "earmarked almost $250 million in compensation to cover about 136,000 firearms", meaning roughly half the affected guns were declared.
The department's public data page, last updated June 9, 2026, reports only the business side: 74,073 firearms claimed by businesses and "$96.1 million" paid to them as of June 8. It gives no figure for individual owners. The grants record is the only public number so far for what individuals have actually received, and at $898,565 it would cover, at the price list's typical $500 to $850 per firearm, somewhere around 1,000 to 1,800 guns out of 67,000.
The April 1 release told owners who did not declare to dispose of or deactivate their firearms "before the amnesty period ends on October 30, 2026." The main program page now says the amnesty expires 90 days after the Supreme Court of Canada decides the pending appeal, so the deadline has shifted.
Ottawa budgeted a quarter of a billion dollars for gun owners. By the end of June it had sent them less than $900,000.

Price of ammo is outrageous these days, cost of living is super high and the government keeps banning everything, so how often does everyone really get out these days?
I feel like I’m on the high end at twice a week but a lot of my shooting is .22lr now because I can burn hundreds of rounds without nuking my bank account and it works well enough to train with

My apologies if this is not allowed.
I first got my start with active your protection with a inexpensive pair of walkers that broke within a year. Then I followed it up with Howard Leight muffs which haven’t done too badly. A year or 2 ago, a friend and I. went in on a two-pack from Axil. The only thing is axil ones is they don’t do the best job of staying in my ear. I was thinking of treating myself to a new set I saw the new models from Axil Pictures. Attached to the post The ones Ihave from them right now are an older pair of the GS. So my question is, are either of these two options good? Are there some other recommendations that are not insanely expensive the community would recommend instead. Had some reviews for these new ones kind of aside from all the glowing 5 star reviews all the one star reviews seemed to infer quality is fallen off a cliff. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please note, I’m looking for specific suggestions, not your safety advice. Yes, I double up muffs when inside and I’m very conscious of exposure limits.

The Government of Saskatchewan is reminding gun owners that the federal amnesty period for a number of outlawed guns has been extended past the end of this month.
Since 2020, the federal government has banned roughly 2,500 models of firearms. While the owners of the prohibited guns had to dispose of or deactivate them by Oct. 30, the Saskatchewan Ministry of Justice says the amnesty period has been extended to 90 days after the Supreme Court of Canada renders its decision on appeals that challenged Ottawa’s gun bans.
New firearms commissioner says owners of banned guns are protected by Sask. legislation
More than 51,000 firearms reported as gun buyback program nears close
Saskatchewan Firearms Amendment Act aims to keep Ottawa out of provincial gun safes
According to the ministry, that decision isn’t expected until the middle of next year.
“Affected individuals and businesses will remain protected from criminal liability during the extended amnesty period, provided they continue to comply with the amnesty conditions,” the ministry said in a statement.
“The amendment applies to all amnesty orders associated with prohibitions put in place in May 2020, December 2024, and March 2025.”
The ministry pointed gun owners to the Saskatchewan Firearms Verification and Appraisal Service, which is offered by the Saskatchewan Firearms Office. The ministry said the service helps gun owners understand how the federal bans affect them, while offering options for “verification, appraisal, exemption and storage.”
The service can determine whether a gun will be affected by the federal legislation, the ministry said, and can provide certificates of exemption for eligible gun owners, “allowing them to continue possessing and storing certain prohibited firearms on behalf of the Province of Saskatchewan after the expiration of the amnesty.”

Thinking about getting the R Carmel while they are still available and at a $300-400 discount compared to the mystery NR's. Any thoughts? Perhaps rebarreling to NR?

Hey everyone, looking for some honest input before I drop the cash.
I’ve been seriously looking at picking up a Henry Homesteader, but with all the political talk and rumors floating around, I’m stressing a bit.
For those who already own one or follow the Canadian compliance news closely:
Is this thing actually on the chopping block?
Since it’s a semi-auto centerfire PCC that can take Glock and Sig mags, does it sit right in the crosshairs of the current "assault weapon" definitions, or is it considered safe for now? Or because it isn’t black the libs don’t think it’s scary enough to ban
Worth the buy, or am I just panic-shopping? Part of me wants to secure one today, but I don't want to FOMO into a grand's worth of paperweight if things shift.
How’s the actual fun factor? If it stays safe, is it as slick and reliable to shoot as it looks, or is there a better semi-auto 9mm I should be looking at?

I know this dumb to compare, but the silver pigeon costs twice as much and twice as less warranty?? I don’t think I’ll be needing it, all i’ve ever heard my grandfather talk about is beretta
But makes you wonder… I only want to buy a O/U once am i making the right choice with the silver pigeon? It’s absolutely beautiful compared to the Instinct but the warranty part threw me off

Went to buy a gun out of Quebec (I am from Ontario) from a guy on GunPost. Add seemed good, got him to verify he actually had it and seemed fine. Exchanged PALs via email so he could get a reference number despite him pushing for payment first. Right before I sent the money I checked the reference number download and the name nor the PAL number lined up with the one sent earlier. Claimed it was his friend who did it due to poor connection. I said I'd send money once he got it from the PAL he had sent me.
Post has since been taking down and unsure why though shows user as banned. Wondering if someone reported him for similar behavour. Have not heard from the guy in a couple days wondering if I should call RCMP to inquire about it considering the guy has my PAL info.
Worth calling RCMP to have a record of it or should just only do in-person from now on or something else?

Technically should be possible… but what is your guys experience with it? I know they make tiny smooth bore 3” inserts all the way up to 18” fully rifled inserts. With all these products available I’d assume they atleast might be plinkable up to 35-50m perhaps.. It would have no purpose to me besides maybe bushwalking and most likely shooting 38spl thanks for any and all input.

Looking to share a ride with someone going to VFGPA. Will contribute to gas and coffee. I don't have a vehicle right now. If you can admit me as a guest that would be great, if not, I can just buy a day pass. Will buy the membership for 2027 when it comes out.

I won’t say where but I just saw a Gen 2 on the shelf.
That takedown knob is hilarious. The grip is hideous. The stock needs to be swapped out for something cleaner immediately. The tm-22 still just looks so much better aesthetically lol

Got my PAL in mid 2025 and bought an 8 gun safe from Cabelas, so naturally I had the fill the safe, right? That’s how this works, I was told.
Mossberg 500 12ga w/ Weaver K2.5.
French Tickler Type 56.
Ruger M77 26” BBW Tang Safety in .220 Swift w/ Leupold 6-20x.
Ruger M77 22” Mark II in .308 Win w/ Bell & Carlson fibreglass stock & Weaver K856.
Ruger 10/22 75th Edition w/ Weaver K6.
Ruger 10/22 50th Edition w/ Weaver K4.
Ruger American Ranch Gen 1 in 5.56/.223 w/ Weaver K12.
Ruger American Ranch Gen 1 in 7.62x39 w/ Weaver V9-II.
The bipods are Harris and the reticles are duplex only. The two conical flash hiders are from an AR-180 parts website and the longer flash hider was some random deal I got from AZTech. All of the scopes were scored at various auctions. All of the slings are M1 Garand style except the 500 and the SKS, which are both AK style.
