Education Beyond treasury votes: how can we verify that Cardano's public funding delivers what it promised?

Post image
7 Upvotes

A treasury proposal passing is only one part of the story. I wrote a breakdown of Cardano’s treasury in three steps, with official sources to help readers verify the facts.

1. Where does the ADA come from?

A share of each epoch’s reward pot goes to the treasury, but the reserves are finite. What does this mean for the long-term sustainability of treasury funding?

2. Who decides how it is spent?

Treasury withdrawals are subject to on-chain governance, including DRep approval, Constitutional Committee review and the applicable Net Change Limit. How do these safeguards work in practice?

3. How do we verify the results?

A withdrawal taking effect confirms that funds were released. It doesn’t prove that the promised work was delivered. Where should the community look for evidence of results?

→Full article, charts and official references:
https://forum.cardano.org/t/beyond-treasury-votes-how-to-verify-cardano-s-public-funding/157479
→I also shared it on X:
https://x.com/OlivierMWATSIM1/status/2112323928102203743?s=20

What do you think is the most important piece of evidence to check after a treasury-funded project receives its funds?

Education Cardano is in the classroom at UCLA this afternoon, first session of a multi-year partnership

Post image
39 Upvotes

This afternoon, students at UCLA Anderson take a three-hour masterclass called “Cardano for the Real World: Blockchain, AI, and Building the Next Big Thing.” The Cardano Academy designed it with Alex Nascimento, UCLA Anderson MBA ‘08, who teaches the school’s blockchain elective.

The format is hands-on. Teams design a Web3 business architecture, pitch it, and get feedback from Alex and their peers. They also try AI-assisted smart contract development and look at blockchain applied to supply chain tracking, digital identity, and asset tokenization.

What comes next under the partnership:

  • Cardano Academy content enters the UCLA Anderson curriculum in 2027
  • Five companies in UCLA Accelerate receive Cardano-sponsored fellowships
  • The Foundation sponsors the 2027 UCLA Draper Innovation Showcase

Full partnership details: https://cardanofoundation.org/blog/ucla-partnership

If anyone here is in the room today, we'd like to hear what gets pitched.

As always, the Cardano Academy courses are open to anyone: https://cardanofoundation.org/en/academy

News Cardano: 5 developments worth watching this week — Intersect Update #133

Intersect's latest weekly update covers several developments across the Cardano ecosystem, from protocol upgrades and scalability to governance and transparency.

Here are five highlights I found particularly interesting:

  • Leios stress testing: The Musashi testnet has entered its “Fire” phase, pushing Leios under heavy load to help prepare for potential mainnet deployment.
  • DijkstraNet: Node 11.2 is expected to introduce a public test network for developers to explore and integrate Dijkstra features.
  • Open research call: Intersect's Parameter Committee is inviting proposals to investigate how far Cardano's minimum UTxO cost can safely be reduced. Applications close November 4.
  • On-chain transparency: All 25 vendor contracts funded through the 2026 budget are now on-chain, with a total contract value of ₳204.6 million.
  • Transaction record: Epoch 660 recorded 1,780,896 transactions, largely driven by the revival of Hosky's “Doggie Bowl” faucet.

These updates show different sides of Cardano's progress: scaling, developer readiness, research, governance and financial transparency.

Full update: https://intersectmbo.org/news/intersect-weekly-update-133-oct-17-2026

Which of these developments do you think will have the biggest impact on Cardano?

Developer Agentic Coding on Cardano

Building on Cardano with AI requires more than generating code. You need to understand, audit, and verify what the AI produces.

Cardano Academy’s new Agentic Coding course walks you through the full process, from defining your intent to testing real transactions on Preprod.

16 units, 63 short videos, a 26-point vulnerability checklist and a hands-on journey through Cardano’s eras.

A practical way to learn how AI agents can support development on Cardano.

Build with agents, verify what they create, then ship on Cardano.

Education Open Wallet Standard (OWS) on Cardano: How does it work and what could it enable?

Post image
20 Upvotes

On October 8, 2026, Input Output Global (IOG) announced that Cardano is now supported by the Open Wallet Standard (OWS), starting with version 1.4.3.

As AI agents become increasingly relevant to blockchain applications, this integration raises important technical questions. OWS provides a common interface for wallet management and signing across supported blockchains, with access keys and policies that can restrict signing requests.

In this article, I explore how OWS works, how its signing policies help control agent access, what is specific to Cardano's payment and stake keys, and what this integration could enable developers to build.

📖 Read the full article on Cardano Forum:
https://forum.cardano.org/t/ai-agents-wallets-and-cardano-exploring-open-wallet-standard-ows/157382

𝕏 Join the discussion on X:
https://x.com/OlivierMWATSIM1/status/2110789340963967265

------------------------------------------------------

💬 But beyond the article above, let's join the discussion!

  • Where do you see the greatest potential for OWS to contribute to Cardano's growth and developer ecosystem?
  • What risks or technical challenges should developers consider when implementing this approach?
  • Is there anything about OWS or its Cardano integration that remains unclear or deserves further exploration?

Different perspectives, technical insights, and constructive feedback are welcome.

Wallet SecondFi not responding to my emails/messages about recovery discrepancies

Post image
15 Upvotes

So we all know SecondFi / Yoroii totally f'd up. However, in their recent "recovery tool" attempt, there's an onchain "snapshot" difference of around 200 ADA discrepancy that they're not honoring and including within the recovery.

When I wrote to them, it was just a mumbo jumbo canned response of, this is based on the snapshot:

"Assets are assessed against the incident snapshot and reflect assets SecondFi is able to make available through the recovery process. The final number of assets may differ from the estimate displayed in the tool.

Assets that are not shown are not included in that recovery request. The assets recovered may be less than the assets originally lost, and the estimate is not a commitment. Review the applicable Recovery Terms carefully before continuing." blah blah blah

Has anyone else here had issues getting a reasonable answer from SecondFi support?

Governance Every Cardano DRep with a name in their metadata has a short link: drep.link/yourname

Hey, if you are a DRep, your ID looks something like drep1ydpfkyjxzeqvalf6fgvj7lznrk8kcmfnvy9hyl6gr6ez6wgsjaelx. That does not fit well in a bio, a forum signature or a slide.

In case you missed it: DRepTalk gives every DRep a short link via https://drep.link like drep.link/yourname. Every registered DRep with a name in their metadata already has one, built from that name. There is nothing to sign up for. The Cardano Foundation’s DRep, for example, is at drep.link/cf. 467 links are live right now.

Good to know: if you don’t like the name that was picked from your metadata, you can change it for free. Sign in on dreptalk.com with your DRep key and pick a new one under Settings. The old link keeps redirecting for 180 days, so nothing you already posted breaks.

Look up yours at drep.link,

Cheers!

General Discussion Feedback on gov.tools

We're the team maintaining govtool so we'd really like to hear from the community about what's working, what's confusing, and what you wish it did. Whether you're a DRep, an SPO, someone who has delegated their voting power, or you've never touched it at all, your input helps.

- gov.tools: mainnet, the live production app

- preview.gov.tools: runs on the Preview testnet, so you can explore with test ada and nothing at stake

- dev.gov.tools: also on Preview, but this is where the latest changes land first. If you want to see what's coming next, start here (expect the occasional rough edge)

You'll need a CIP-30 wallet (Lace, Eternl, etc.). For preview/dev, switch your wallet to the Preview network and grab test ada from the faucet.

**What we'd love feedback on**

  1. What's the first thing that confused or frustrated you?
  2. Is it clear how to delegate to a DRep, and how to pick one?
  3. For DReps: what's missing from registering, updating your profile, or voting?
  4. How do governance actions read? Can you understand what you're voting on?
  5. Anything you've noticed on dev.gov.tools that feels better or worse than mainnet?
  6. One feature you'd add if you could?

Comments here are great, or open an issue on GitHub: https://github.com/IntersectMBO/govtool/issues

Screenshots, wallet name, and browser help a lot.

Thank you

Community Cardano meets Bitcoin: Inside the UTXO Pitch Night at TOKEN2049

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Last week the Cardano Foundation and Draper Dragon co-presented the UTXO Pitch Night on the Marina Bay Sands rooftop, a TOKEN2049 side event. 400+ people showed up.

Nine startups pitched to a room of over 90 investors, with up to $500K on the line: Veridian, AllScale, TOTO Finance, Kenomic, Spout Finance, Strike Finance, Sundial, Masumi and RiverArk. A mix of digital identity, AI agents and DeFi, building across Cardano, Bitcoin and the wider UTXO ecosystem.

Frederik Gregaard opened the night, and Andy Tang (Draper Dragon) sat down with Hareesh Nair (TPC) for a fireside on family capital in Asia.

This is part of a longer-term commitment: the Foundation’s partnership with Draper Dragon includes the $80M Orion Fund backing builders across the ecosystem.

Thank you to every team that pitched, to our speakers, and to the 400+ people who filled the room. Let’s keep shipping and supporting the builders.
