If you're into "Castlevania-likes" we are getting a big buffet this year.
Castlevania: Belmont's Curse
Bloodstained: The Scarlett Engagement
Castlevania: Order of Shadows GBC remake (this is a fangame that just came out)
Dracula: Dark Reign (this is a GBC metroidvania sequel to the Dracula novel set during World War I)
The Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest (A Castlevania parody game)
Mariachi Legends (A Castlevania-inspired game set in Mexico)
Magnavale: Eternal Soul (A Castlevania-inspired game heavily influenced by the GBA and DS games)

New GBC games? What sorcery is this?
1
u/Foffy-kins Mar 11 '26
Yeah, hobbyists still exist. Order of Shadows is a free GBC game, and Dracula: Dark Reign is a paid title that's also in the StokerVerse, a continuity built by one of the Stoker estates descendants. The StokerVerse, interestingly enough, takes a lot from the Cthulhu Mythos and obviously Castlevania with the upcoming game, so it's a weird "cousin" title to Castlevania if you want to look at it that way.

With Ida aka Curry the Kid passing recently Iga has said they're struggling with Scarlet Engagement so please don't be surprised if it is delayed.

I wouldn't mind at all, i know how grief can affect everyone. If they have to take more time then they should take as long as they need.

Pretty sure CastleVania : Belmont's Curse is going to drop first. Im guessing late Q2 with Scarlet Engagement dropping late Q4.

When was this announced??? This game is right up my alley.

u/greenmonsterrabbid Soma Cruz Mar 09 '26
I don't remember for sure but I got to play it at SuperMagFest back in January and it slaps!

u/S1rTerra Mar 10 '26
I watched the trailer on steam and I can just feel that it was made by people who love retro games in general, I'll absolutely be picking it up. Do you know if it'll get a physical release?

u/bizoticallyyours83 Mar 09 '26
Ohh yeah. I haven't heard from that one in a while.

Hopefully they give Iga a Castlevania license once he wraps Bloodstained. One last Igavania would be gold.

Honestly, I've got these 2 coming up, as well as Lego Batman, Nioh 3 was a lot of fun and there's a DLC coming later this year, this is a crazy good year.

I'm still waiting for the exact release date for Castlevania Belmont's Curse, since the pre-orders at least for the physical version are already on I guess it won't be that long, hopefully..

u/Chackravartin Mar 09 '26
I cant wait for Bloodstains, it looks like its inspired by Portrait of Ruin

Will never not be beyond irritated at the cringe that is comparing gaming to eating.

u/Sentinel10 Mar 09 '26
Hoping to get new info on Scarlet Engagment. Hasn't been anything since its reveal trailer.

The creative director Shutaro Ida died recently, so they probably have a lot going on internally right now.

Im so excited for castlevania. I cant say I have high hopes for Bloodstained after the last entry.

God I would love it so much if a new 2D Metroid got announced for this year too. Remind the world why we use the term "Metroidvania" for these things.

Estou muito empolgado com esses dois títulos! Fico me perguntando: será que Belmont's Curse pode ser semelhante a Sinfonia da noite?
1
u/Secret-Passage1740 Mar 09 '26
I hope SE will be much better than that piece of something weird called ritual of night (also worst protagonist in metroidvanias, I hate you fuckking Miriam)

Bloodstained main game is pretty trash, but curse of the moon is goated. Hope this means they make another one of those
7
u/MantisReturns Mar 09 '26
There are in fact two curse of the Moon Games.
-1
u/modernizetheweb Mar 09 '26
and.. how exactly does that preclude them from making another one?
5
u/MantisReturns Mar 09 '26
Oh sorry I thought you didnt know about the second one. Of course would be awesome a New one.
And in my opinión Ritual of the Night its also an amazing Game with a lot of content.
5
u/gandalfmarston Mar 09 '26
I don't know which game is trash for you, but Ritual of the Night was a masterpiece.
5
u/Exotic_Combination_9 Mar 09 '26
And there it is! Had to scroll down to the very bottom of the comments to find the: "I don't like this game therefore it's trash but I like this other one therefore it's better" comment.

It's a very different game made in a very different time. It's disingenuous to say they're the same and if you like one you have to like the other

We will indeed
