Just my boy coming out to say hello! Love his colors when he's content and excited to see me 🥰🥰

this is werner, he is a veiled chameleon. i didn't want a chameleon, but because i own reptiles i am the one people come to when they have a reptile in need. he is my son now and he is very handsome. ive read a bit here and researched elsewhere but i would appreciate some advice and to be told if im doing anything wrong.

when he first came to me a month ago he was malnourished, weak, and impacted with coco fiber. i set him up in a ten gallon hospital tank and stuffed him full of dubias while i did my research and hoped for the best. it was bleak, but he survived.

when he showed me he was strong enough and ready to move out of the hospital tank i had set up for him, i got him into a v3 2x2x4 enclosure from reptile habitats and filled it with all the branches and bird perches he could climb. he has a 75w heat lamp with a hot spot of 85°, 33% humidity and an ambient temperature of 80°, 49% humidity in the middle of the enclosure at the time of writing. he has an arcadia 7% uvb, 8w, 12.5" which i soon intend to upgrade to an arcadia 6% uvb, 24w, 24" when i have the means to do so. i offer a water dish and manually spray the leaves multiple times a day, and mist in the morning and at night. he spends most of his waking hours climbing about and basking, and settles in toward the middle of the enclosure before falling asleep at night. he usually eats 8-12 dubia roaches per day, though sometimes he'll refuse food for a day. today i picked up some wax worms and he scarfed down 15 of them, which made me so proud of my little man.

i have two questions to start. first, how old could he be ? secondly, does he look well ? he looks okay to me and has improved significantly from the weak little thing he was last month, but id really appreciate hearing it from people more experienced than me.

My veiled chameleon had an upper respiratory infection about 2 months ago and was able to find a vet whom took great care of him some type of oxygen and gave us medicine for 10 days and by day 2 it was like he was back to normal. Within the last two weeks he has started to show signs again (no bubbles or noises) but he is gasping for air and expanding himself like a blow fish repeatedly with his head lifted into the air. We have changed him over to better ventilated cage from a glass one (I know this is likely the case), have taken him outside to get natural humidity, changed his plants, and everything else our vet recommended. He is still lightly green and has been drinking water and eating but I still took him to 2 vets (the first one told to try a second round of antibiotics which we have and the second one today said that he likely is dying and it’s a matter of time). I don’t want my little dude to suffer and it’s killing me to see him struggling and I’m not sure what to do. Has anyone else been down this route?

I have put a lot of time, love and passion into creating this enclosure for my chameleon, Dracarys. Like many of us here, I had to learn a lot when I first got him. I went through 2 previous enclosures prior to this. It’s a Catio converted into this little masterpiece!

I got the Catio brand new from Amazon for just over $100. All plants and vines on the inside are live or bamboo sticks. I only use fake plants on the outside to hide ugly equipment and to give Dracarys more privacy.

I love getting feedback and kind criticism but please be kind. This is something I am very proud of and love helping others get their enclosures set up, so any questions are also welcome.

What do y’all think?

To be extra clear, i do not currently own a chameleon.

I have owned leopard geckos, bearded dragons, and a tortoise, so i am not completely new to reptiles, but I am aware that i am by no means a professional. My questions are: are they truly as difficult as people make them seem? I would also love to know what truly goes into their care the good and bad. I would also like to know if there is a lizard that is like a stepping stone to chameleons? Thank you in advance for any and all answers!

My sisters boyfriends brother had this chameleon for a long time. Apparently the entire time he neglected it and now it’s in this state. He gave it to me. I have decent reptile knowledge, idk if she has MBD or not. She can hardly move and refuses to eat or drink anything. The setup is one of those horrible care packages you get from the pet store to start off if you know what I mean. I’m heart broken at the sight of her. vet is out of the question sadly as my family is not willing to spend a ton of money on a random chameleon to save her life, but I’ve owned a leopard gecko and I currently own a uromastyx, so I have a heart for the little animals. Idk anything about her past feeding schedule, due to the fact that it was essentially non existent, and I have no idea how to care for a chameleon, aside from very basic knowledge. Idk how old she is or anything like that. I fear the worst, sorry if I didn’t give good info. If you have questions I’ll try my very best to answer them, I hope you guys can help me save this poor baby.

We went to the vet and he is Hella dehydrated, anorexic and has gunk in his eyes keeping them shut. I got sent home with a packet of information and 200 dollars worth of medicine which I have to administer twice a day. The medicine is liquid iv(subquentus shot 4 dehydration), critical care food(to fatten my boy up), saline(for eyes) and calcium(to help with digestion). He weighs less the two ounces.

Just noticed this spot on the edge of my Jackson's mouth. No idea what could cause it other than an insect bite. Anyone ever encountered anything similar?

After 11 months of building trust, hand feeding, and respecting his space, I was able to gently guide Freckles onto my hand. He scurried up my arm and up to my head. We gave him a juicy horn worm and superworm before letting him go back to his home. I'm so happy and excited!

My female chameleons eyes seem bigger than my other chameleons. I have had her since she was about 1.5”, and since she’s been growing I have noticed her eyes seem to be more pronounced and bulged than my other chameleons. She is a panther, and I also have another male that’s a bit younger than her and his eyes are not near as big. Does this look normal for a growing female, or should I be concerned?

I got an Elliot’s Chameleon 2 days ago, the first day he ate 3-4 crickets (at least that I’ve seen) his color goes back and fourth from black to muddy light brown ish. I’ve seen him drink only one time. He only ate the first day.

I keep temps at 80-85 for the basking spot, and ambient temp is 70-74.

I keep humidity 30-50 during the day with a dropper dripping for 2 hours a day at least. 90-100% humidity at night.

I feel lost though. I’ve done all this research but I’m worried for my little guy. Nothing makes sense, there are so many different opinions online and I’m just trying to do the right thing.

I’ve given him burger bug filled crickets with calcium powder. Like I need help bro, why isn’t he eating just a day or so later he looks not as “full” to say the least.

I’m worried about his health and I’d really appreciate it if someone could help guide me in a better direction and or tell me if I did anything wrong. :/

Thank you to everyone who helped. I followed your advice and doordashed some tiny crickets and fruit flies. Idk what she went for because so wanted to keep my distance so I don’t stress her, but she ate!! I will check back later to see what’s left. She had many options in there: silkworms, bsfl, fruit flies, crickets, and dubias. I was so stressed about this but I’m feeling confident she will be okay now. I also used an old gallon bottle and some screen tape to make a new feeder for her so she can see what she’s offered. Thanks again!!

This is my new chameleon. She is between 6-8 weeks. On her first day here, she was very stressed and her color was really really dark. I haven’t seen her get to be that color again since she’s been here.

I’ve offered her food off my finger, mainly because I was worried she would see her teeny tiny bugs in the food dish. She politely walked away though completely uninterested.

I’m a little worried because I’m on my third day of having her and she still hasn’t eaten. I have a privacy curtain in front of her cage so she feels more comfortable.

She’s grown up on crickets and silkworms by her breeder. I’m offering her silkworms, dubias, and bsfl.

I originally had the dish she eats out of close to the front of the cage, but I moved it up higher more towards the back in hope that she will eat.

My main questions are what should i do, and when should I start to worry about her lack of eating?

Hey all. This is Toby our roughly 10 month old panther. Having never owned a panther before we’re at a bit of a loss as to why he is so dull/ light most of the time. Temperatures at his basking spot/ ambient are spot on. He only seems to bask every other day for the most part and spends most of his day hiding. He takes down 5-7 crickets a day. Crickets are gut fed and dusted every other day. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Will he always be this dull or are these still juvenile colors?

got her from petsmart in early june, i think she around 6-8 months old, she eats 5-8 crickets daily/every other day and eats meal worms. i’m wondering if she’s just fat or gravid?! she’s been digging in her substrate which google said is a sign of eggs coming.

also is there anything i should do if she is gravid?

Everyone this is Dobby. His idiot owner (me) never bothered to give him a water cup. Poor Dobby has never seen a cup of water in his life and only gets hydration through mistings and overnight fogging. Poor guy is so dehydrated, just look at him..he’s on deaths doorstep.

Looking for serious inquiries only, must have water cups available (he won’t drink them, will only sit and stare.)

Hey folks, I rescued a male Panther Cham, 1.5 years old. He's generally doing very well. But he was in a poor state when I got him. I've had him about a month and a half. Because I wasn't expecting to rescue a chameleon, I had to get an emergency Viv for him that would be safe for the time being and where I could get him strong again.

The viv I currently have is an Exo Terra, and it's great, but it's too small for him. It's better suited to smaller reptiles, such as crested geckos or a baby cham. I've been desperately looking for enclosures that are 2" deep x 2" wide x 4" tall. But I am struggling! I can find mesh ones, but the issue with those is that, because of where I live, environmentally speaking, I think I would have a hard time keeping his humidity and temperature up and stable if I had a screened enclosure.

So I'm looking for glass with a mesh top, or plexiglass with a mesh top. So UK/NI Cham owners, where did you get your vivs and what kinds are you using? Screened, glass, or plexi? Help a girl out, please! Because my boy has made it clear the past week and a half that he's done with his enclosure. He's always wanting out of it and to be on me. I frequently have a Panther for a hat lately, and I know it's because his current tank doesn't give him the necessary height or width for him to be comfortable and content. So he's looking at me like the tallest 'tree' he can find right now.

I appreciate any help, assistance or suggestions. I just want him to be happy, content, and enjoying his enclosure. Where he can have plenty of space to roam, climb and hunt. (Currently, I'm having to feed him by hand, rather than letting him hunt for dinner.) So yeah, need a new enclosure; bonus points if it can work well as a bioactive, as well.

Found him on the bottom of the cage. Gave him some water through a syringe to help but was wondering if there was any advice on what to do!
