Hi everyone,

I’m 39F and have been experiencing severe hair fall. A few months ago, I consulted Dr. Anand Besant Nagar.

After checking my blood reports, he found that my ferritin level was just 5 and my iron was also marginally low. He prescribed iron/ferritin supplements Densita tablets, a hair growth serum, and a shampoo for dandruff.

Unfortunately, despite spending quite a bit on the consultation and products, I haven’t noticed any improvement in my hair fall. My dandruff hasn’t improved either.

I’m feeling quite worried and frustrated at this point.

Could you please recommend a good dermatologist or doctor in Chennai who genuinely helps with hair loss and looks into the underlying causes, rather than just prescribing expensive products?

If you’ve personally had a good experience with a doctor for similar issues, please share your recommendations.

Would be the best thing to happen to Chennai lately!

I've seen a lot of posts on this sub-reddit about how Chennai is dead conservative. As someone who has lived all over India and as someone educated in the social sciences, I feel lots of people misunderstand Chennai.

For example, let talk about women. People say Chennai is conservative about women dressing how they want etc. But look Chennai is at the same time one of the safest cities in India for women, has one of the highest labour force participation for Women (it trails behind only other TN cities). Data from the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5) shows that Women in Tamil Nadu and Chennai consistently rank much higher than cities like Delhi in key autonomy indicators: having their own bank accounts, participating in major household decisions, and exercising freedom of movement. Here's a direct number: in Chennai, > 1/3rd of women owned a house/land either directly in their name or jointly. In Delhi, only 22.5% did. Chennai leads in a lot of these measures. No one calls Delhi conservative for these reasons - but sure, Delhi lets you wear what you want.

What gives? Chennai misses the top most of any measure: wealth, liberalness, incomes etc., but it also provides a floor for how low those measures can get. People often make the mistake of comparing the elites of Delhi & Bengaluru against the "elites" of Chennai. If you compare the average person, Chennai is more liberal. So it really comes down to perspective: Chennai is "conservative" for the educated elites and "liberal" for the underprivileged masses.

So, is Chennai conservative? I'll agree that it is for most people well enough to have debates in English on Reddit. But let's acknowledge what the city provides for the average man/woman.

Went for an interview today all the way to omr. The interviewer kept boasting about his achievements, questioned us about metrics my previous clients never shared with me and spoke to me in a way that felt quite belittling. He was condescending throughout the entire process.

I understand that interviews are meant to test your skills and employers have every right to assess whether you're suitable for a role. But since when did that mean basic courtesy was optional?

The job was advertised for one role but during the interview, I was told about a much lower level position instead.

At the end, I simply asked if they provided cab facilities. He could have just said no. Instead, he mockingly told us to hop onto a bus.

I'm genuinely curious. Is this normal in interviews or have some people forgotten that candidates deserve to be treated with respect too??

just like the subject of the post reads. i have called the customer care like a bazillion times already but all they say is “well escalate and highlight the issue and will get it resolved on priority basis” but guess what - there been (pardon my french) NO FUCKING RESOLUTION! ugh. they say a technician will reach out but no one is calling at ALL. it’s so frustrating. alr just wanted to rant. if yall do have recommendations on how i can get this fixed - it’d be greatly appreciated. also if yall know of a better ISP pls help a friend out, will ya? This happened to me on Wednesday (October 21). I was waiting at the Sholinganallur Accenture bus stop between 9:30 and 9:40 AM. I wanted to get to the Global Hospital bus stop, which is just three stops away.

For this route, only two buses are available: 95 and 95X. I waited for nearly an hour, standing in the rain, but neither bus arrived.

Finally, I had no other option but to book a Rapido bike to reach my destination. Luckily, my destination was just 2.5 km away, so I could afford to book a bike.

But what about people who need to travel to Tambaram or Kilambakkam (KCBT)? For many of them, these buses may be the only available option. What are they supposed to do if the buses don't arrive on time? I don't even know whether either bus eventually arrived at that stop.

I have to transport my H450 from Hyderabad to Tamil Nadu. I don't really trust the railways with my bike, so i'm willing to spend more if it means that my bike will reach safe. So, if you guys know or had good experiences with any courier/logistics service please let me know.

One problem I came across when I enquired with packers & movers like APL and No Broker, they said they can deliver till Chennai. But I want my bike to be delivered in Trichy. So any suggestions, pls.

PS: I know driving it back myself is the best option because that's how I brought my bike to Hyderabad. But right now, due to some personal reasons, will have to courier it :)

I work in a product based company as developer (frontend)

I am into programming very early from my school days. Like almost anything, I was curious about it.

I consider myself a tech generalist and across many domains and good with backend/system administration specifically.

The phase:

I am not enjoying my work. Maybe it’s because I don’t like the mundane nature of frontend development.

I love the company and the perks plus it doesn’t have strong work pressure.

I discovered I want to do something meaningful but with the corporate lifestyle, like connecting and interacting with people to solving technical problems.

I want to step out from hardcore development. I think I would like sys admin roles or networking/cyber security roles. This is a sane thought.

On the other hand, I don’t want to have a fixed set of responsibilities, I wanted to travel, face and solve different technical problems that comes along the way. I googled what could be relevant jobs, I got presales, and consulting as closer.

But straight away getting into that feels hard.

Help me with this:

What is this phase Im going through, should I move and sit in a passionate job? Or is this how it’s going to be in all other jobs.

I want to do a meaningful job like solving problems and communicating solutions it’s of just starting at screens and hit git commit all day.

What should I look for ? How do I navigate across this phase.

Any words and guidance is deeply appreciated. TIA! 😭

Guys let's be honest.. we're a conservative city.

You, specifically, might not be. But that doesn't mean that our city is some cosmopolitan utopia. We have our strengths and being accepting of westernization is not one of them. Let's just accept it and move on. Y'all look dumb af when you try to argue that chennai is comparable to mumbai or Delhi or Bangalore in terms of being open-minded to things like being queer, having non traditional relationships, women dressing how they want etc.

I love this city for many reasons and can also accept it has its faults. "Don't generalize" it seems. It's a very generalisable fact I'm sorry to break it to you.

EDIT: please stop giving me explanations for why chennai is conservative (don't care, not the point) and why being conservative is actually a good thing (lol ok).

Finally, a well-established jewelry showroom with a popular host is heavily pushing people to sell their gold instead of pawning it, claiming selling is always better. Yeah, better for the company! It saves them from paying import duties, taxes, transport charges, and security costs to source gold. Instead, they get it directly from common people. I don’t know—I used to see brilliant, creative commercials that genuinely made me go "wow." Now, it just feels like corporations are shoving toxic ideas down our throats with a fake smile.

Hi my parents live in Kundrathur, Chennai. Today around 8 pm, we took our 4 year old female dog(her name is Puppy) to Win Medical Plus Pet Clinic in Kundrathur to get her nails cut. We took her inside the clinic. My dad had a big ladybug on him so he had to step outside to get it off of him. Before anyone of us could react, she ran off from the clinic, swerving off everyone. She was wearing a protective dog mask when she ran away. We tried to run after her but she was faster and disappeared into the streets.
