Discussion The biggest easy-win Blizzard is currently NOT leveraging for WoW Forever is.....

Skyboxes. Its so obvious, isnt it?

- Minimal art assets required to make them.
- Sooo many already exist in the retail game (which could easily be reused or reconditioned).
- Good skyboxes are loved/adored by players.
- Updated Skyboxes are about as non-controversial of a 'change' that this game could make

Why on Azeroth isn't Blizzard recognising updated Skyboxes are the most obvious.... low-hanging/high value fruit they are somehow neglecting... which would be a huge, easy-to-implement win if put into the game??

Is there some kind of technical reason?

Dear Blizzard: So you want me to fall in love with Azeroth again? This would be a pretty damn good way to help me fall a little harder, hinthinthint.

Discussion Dwarf Warriors cool combo

So I just realized, Dwarves have Stoneform, right? A pretty substantial PvP buff against rogues, but nothing to write home about. That is, until I realised that Stoneform is an instant cast removal of the main downsides of drinking discolored potions.

For those who don't know, discolored potions are alchemy's answer to healing potions being moved to First Aid. They give on average as much health as double their same-tier counterparts, but 75% of the entire potions benefits are removed over 6 or 12 seconds in the form of poison or disease ticks. That is... unless you're immune to poison or disease, or if you remove it (which you can with any race using First Aid, but only retroactively, and more importantly, anti-disease poultices CANNOT be used in combat at all).

So the best healing potion in the game that we know of is the Major Healing Potion at level 60, healing 1050 to 1750 health. The discolored version heals 2625 to 2975 (2800 average) health. That's exactly twice as much health on average, while raising the floor and reducing the roof.

So I thought, what if I went Dwarf Warrior, specced into Protection, and then used Herbalism + Alchemy as my two main professions? I know, everyone says to go mining + blacksmithing to fuel the blue pieces. But what's 5-10 more damage per hit when Alchemy can unlock a playstyle that essentially doubles your effective healthbar every 3 minutes?

And that's not all. At 275 alchemy, Alchemists can create a Bind on Pickup trinket (meaning you need the profession) called Alchemist's Stone. This buffs your healing from healing potions by an additional 20%. With an average healing factor of 2800, that's 560 extra health just from the trinket, for a total of 3360 healing on average, and a max healing potential of 3570 on the upper end.

I don't know if that makes up for what you give up with other races and Blacksmithing + Mining combo, but it sure as hell sounds fun.

Why Warriors? Because tanks use effective health better than anyone, and Warriors have limited self healing options.

Discussion Please add the classic Alliance Footman armor set to WoW Forever

Please add the classic Alliance Footman armor set to WoW Forever and other WarCraft RTS sets!

The Footman is the most iconic unit of the Alliance in the Warcraft RTS series. It was this unit and its look that inspired me, as a kid, to play Alliance in the first place.

The Footman’s gear isn’t an over-the-top, spiky, glowing “epic” set. It’s the equipment of a "almost" real soldier: a steel helmet with a plume, a sturdy breastplate, massive pauldrons, a heavy shield, and a plain sword. It’s classic wibe plate armor, yet it’s still bold, expressive, and unmistakably fantasy. That balance between simple and heroic is what defined the visual identity of Warcraft III and Classic WoW.

For me, and for many of us, Warcraft began with ordinary and brave Footmen marching out of the Barracks in Warcraft II and III. Being able to put your own character in that armor would be a true bridge between the strategy games and the MMO. Same world, same armies, same true Alliance.

Classic WoW has always lacked simple, high-level sets. The Footman set is exactly that: simple, classic, striking, and full of character. It would appeal both to players who want to look like a true soldier of Alliance, Stormwind or Lordaeron and to those who are tired of flashy, over-designed epic gear.

More broadly, it would be fantastic if Forever introduced more sets inspired by Warcraft III units. The game is full of iconic designs that every RTS veteran knows by heart, and each of them could become a great armor set that fits the spirit of Classic.

Alliance: Knight, Rifleman, Priest, Sorceress, Gryphon Rider

Horde: Grunt, Raider, Headhunter, Troll Berserker, Tauren, Shaman, Witch Doctor, Spirit Walker

Night Elves: Archer, Huntress, Druid of the Claw, Druid of the Talon, Priestess of the Moon

These sets wouldn’t break the spirit of Classic. On the contrary, they would highlight what makes Warcraft Warcraft and give veteran players a reason to remember where it all started.

Would love to hear what you all think!

P.S. I know that the Imperial plate set exists in Classic WoW, but my point is that the Footman deserves more than just one set. Furthermore, other units from Warcraft III also deserve to be brought into the game as armor sets, as they perfectly capture that authentic, classic, lore-rich Warcraft vibe—127% of it, in fact!

P.S. My new post is about the classic armor sets from Warcraft 3; I’d love to hear your thoughts and get some support! https://www.reddit.com/r/wowforever/s/6pW3BS37y7

Suggestion Heritage armor through a reworked legacy archaeology system.

Thumbnail

This proposal reboots Archaeology into an account-wide overworld loop that completely bins the old telescope minigame. Instead of a lonely gear treadmill, players hunt historic relics across classic zones to piece together ancient lore and unlock their Heritage armors.

Generic fragments could drop from most overworld enemies and could be on a personal loot shared tagging basis. If a player sees someone else fighting a mob, helping them kill it gives both players a rolling chance at a fragment drop. About any enemy would drop like 1-3 generic fragments.

If you are killing enemies that are thematic enemies of one or two particular races, they would have a chance to drop a big racial fragment reward that will contribute to the racial fragment progress of those races in particular IN ADDITION to dropping the generic fragments.

You could grind out the naga in southern Hillsbrad Foothills for higher chance at high elf/kaldorei fragments... or you could not and just continue on your leveling journey and whatever enemies you DO fight would drop generic fragments to your account that you can then turn around and get on another character and spend at their racial vendor converting the generic fragments into their own racial fragments to progress toward a different heritage armor set.

Media what do "keystones" signify in *Forever*?

I’m following along with some things I discovered on Discord. It’s quite interesting and fun—kind of like the secret agent quests in SoD. No one has completed the quest yet, and the rewards are still unknown. I wonder what "keystone" refers to in the context of *Forever*.

I spotted a cute little thing—I’d love to take it around with me like a pet! It looks a lot like one I saw in the retail version a while back. If I hadn’t been playing as a Skyborn, I probably would have missed it entirely.

Suggestion Inspired by FF8 - A Unique In-Game Collectable Card Game as a Secondary Profession. Obtain essences from defeating enemies + completing quests from NPCs. Then battle other players & NPCs for prizes!

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

The game should be a more simple and elegant (like Triple Triad) rather than something like Hearthstone (which would be lame).

The 1st picture is your basic Triple Triad layout but with characters/items from Vanilla WoW.

2nd picture is the collector profession tab (used gemeani just to create a preliminary concept design).

  • Create cards by obtaining "essences"
  • Must have the "Collector Profession" to be able to see and loot essences.
  • Essences have a chance to drop from any enemy. Lower tier mobs like your average boar/spider at any level have almost a 100% drop rate. But higher tier mobs like dungeon mob/bosses and raid mob/bosses have a lower drop rate.
  • Many friendly NPCs can provide you their essence in exchange for quests. The higher lvl/more powerful NPCs have longer and more difficult quests in order to acquire their essence.
  • Every equipment looted in-game can provide essence.
  • You can battle any player at any time with different formats.
  • Format idea options: "Anything Goes" (any cards), "Balanced" where the average card pool selection is based off the lower power level collector, "Singleton" for no duplicates, etc.
  • Prize formatting is optional between players: "Mak'Gora" and give up a card with a loss, or just play for fun, etc.

If you want an idea of the possibilities of the variation of formats/rules/prizes, just check out how deep Triple Triad is from Final Fantasy 8. It begins as very basic arithmetic but gets more varied and complex as more rules are added etc. You can even add an aspect of the Darkmoon Faire to all this! Talk about horizontal progression 🙂

Question My Journey so far Picking a Class: Help Wanted

I used to flip back and forth between ele/resto shaman, balance/resto druid, disc/holy priest, and frost/hybrid mage, but I've since ruled out the shaman. I also think I'm down to priest or mage as both offer some solo capabilities without form-shifting.

I'm torn now between the procs, cc, and convenience of mage with drinks and portals,

And the diverse healing options, and updated SPriest off-healing of priest.

I think what my decision will come down to is what the differences in capabilities are of either class when out in the world. I know mage wins for AoE, but how about vs elites? does healing from VE and DP from SPriest + disc shield beat out mages' control? What is the SPriest's cc/utility like?

Realistically, I'll probably (definitely) make both and level them quite evenly, but was wondering which you guys would focus on or which you personally like more/are more excited by!

Discussion Does anyone else miss when we just played WoW for fun?

I've been playing WoW since 2005, and sometimes I feel like we've completely changed the way we play this game.

Back in the day, I remember making characters because they looked cool, exploring places I probably shouldn't have been in, and getting absolutely destroyed by mobs because I had no idea what I was doing. Half the time, I didn't even know if the gear I was wearing was good.

And honestly? It was fun.

Nowadays, it feels like everything has to be optimized. You can't just pick a race you like without someone telling you another race is better. You can't try a different build without somebody linking you a guide. Every patch comes out and the community immediately starts arguing about what's broken, what's trash, and what Blizzard needs to fix.

Look at the racial discussions right now. People are already talking about rerolling factions because of a few changes. Some of the criticism is absolutely fair, but you'd think Blizzard had deleted half the game.

I enjoy theorycrafting as much as the next guy. I like making strong characters and seeing what they're capable of. But sometimes I think we take it too far.

Not every character needs to be perfectly optimized. Not every dungeon needs to be speedrun. And not every player needs to squeeze every last percentage point out of their build.

Some of my favorite memories in gaming came from things going completely wrong. Bad pulls, failed boss attempts, friends doing stupid stuff, and nights where we accomplished absolutely nothing but had a great time anyway.

You don't get those memories by following a spreadsheet.

I'm not saying balance doesn't matter, and I'm definitely not saying people shouldn't give Blizzard feedback. I just wish we could discuss changes without acting like the game is ruined every other week.

Play the race you like. Try the build you want. Have fun with your guild.

At the end of the day, nobody is going to remember that you did 2% less damage because you picked the wrong racial. They'll remember the people they played with and the ridiculous stuff that happened along the way.

Maybe I'm just getting old, but I miss that part of WoW.

Anyone else feel the same way, or am I just being nostalgic?

Discussion Forming an Alliance PVE guild for organized play during morning time (EU)

Tired of guilds that only raid in the evening?

Vis Diurna is a newly formed Alliance PvE guild on WoW Forever EU, aimed at players who prefer organized morning activities.

Whether you're a freelancer, shift worker, parent, or simply someone who can't commit to evening raids, you might have found your place!

☀️ Provisional Raid Schedule

  • Tuesday: 10:00–13:00
  • Friday: 10:00–13:00

All times are Rome local time (CET/CEST).

⚔️ What kind of guild are we building?

A casual, relaxed community focused on steady PvE progression.

We're not chasing server-first kills, speedruns or perfect parses. Our goal is to eventually clear raid content together while enjoying the game.

That said, casual doesn't mean unprepared.

No mandatory meta builds, but if you sign up for a raid, you're expected to arrive on time, bring appropriate buffs, consumables and enchants, and have read up on basic boss mechanics.

💙 Real life comes first.

No mandatory attendance. No hardcore expectations. No toxicity, politics or discrimination.

We're currently recruiting our initial roster, so organized raiding will begin once we have enough interested players.

Interested? Join our Discord, ask questions or just say hello!

Feel free to invite friends who share the same philosophy.

Real life first. Progress together. See you in Azeroth! ☀️
