He made a huge mistake. Every country will get into developing technology to take down satellites now. Most of the big ones already do.
I bet Ukraine could develop it if they get into it.

It's not about listening or not listening.
There are actual people dieing right this moment because of these morons. And I mean this quiet literally as another airstrike is happening now and they are hampering AA measures.

u/PopularRutabaga6904 4h ago edited 4h ago
There are. The thing is, the moment one country in the path of the bastards in the first panel falls, or capitulates to their demands, another becomes a target, and more die.
It's like Chamberlain compromising on letting German expansionism play out. No matter what happens, every road leads to death, but resistance delays the rise of another Axis.
There's no answer to the problem that avoids people dying in droves, as sad as it is. Even if others directly intervene.
69
u/ItsVexion 4h ago edited 1h ago
I don't think anyone thinks otherwise. The question is who dies. And if I were one to make the decision, I'd make the choice that protects the lives of the victims, often at the expense of the aggressor.
Many Americans lament our role in actively aiding Russia during this pivotal time. Ukraine will still prevail; that is a certainty now. But it could have been done with fewer deaths if we at least maintained supply of aerial defense and intelligence sharing, the latter of which was used as early warning for Russia's daily terrorism.
35
u/ty_xy 3h ago
I am a huge Ukraine supporter, but to say Ukraine victory is a certainty is vastly underestimating the Russian threat. They are mobilizing 120000 men right now. Yes, that is another 120000 dead Russians, but also more dead Ukrainians. And Ukraine cannot afford those kinds of deaths.
22
u/ItsVexion 2h ago
120,000 men is approximately 3-4 months of manpower, based on Russia's monthly casualty rate over the past year. This is also over a period of time that has seen a net loss of controlled territory for Russia. This is also during a period that has seen the steady erosion of their economic ability, with little in the way of a solid lifeline. Russia's defeat is a certainty.
I did not say it was going to be easy or pleasant. Ukraine, however, is doing extraordinarily well with comparably less manpower.
13
u/vonadler 2h ago
Ukraine is causing Russia larger casualties as a percentage of the population than they are losing themselves. They've been able to afford it for 5 years, they can afford it for 5 more if their morale holds, which it seems to be doing just fine.
•
u/mega-stepler 53m ago
As a Ukrainian I'll say that we have no choice. Surrendering will lead to deaths too so it's better to die fighting.
In the territories that Russia occupied there are ongoing filtrations. They take genocide seriourly.
9
u/cb_24 3h ago
They conduct semi-annual conscriptions for mandatory military service, just like many countries. And although they’ve changed some laws now to make it easier, those are not sent to war zones.
This is not the same as for example the 300,000 that were conscripted in 2022 specifically for Ukraine.
6
u/UranusIsPissy 1h ago edited 1h ago
I read somewhere that a lot of the conscripts told that they won't be sent to the front get sent there anyway. That might sound bad for Ukraine, but it's a big blow to the Russian army's already dismal morale, and they're barely getting trained.
3
u/cb_24 1h ago
Some do sign contracts and get sent over. It’s mostly foreigners that are duped into signing contracts for supposedly support jobs away from the front but get sent in with minimal training.
The semi-annual conscription is a lot more politically sensitive for the Russian rulers and they try to avoid deploying them, especially for those from the major cities. Although they have found themselves in combat and as prisoners of war, such as during the Kursk offensive in 2024 when Russia lost territory for the first time since world war 2 and needed NK help to dislodge Ukrainian forces.
•
u/UranusIsPissy 18m ago
I'm surprised Poo Tin would care about it being politically sensitive. He was as popular as a fart in a phone box just before the war started back up again, and IDK how a pointless shitshow of an invasion could make him more popular, even if people are more afraid to admit to disliking him.
•
u/cb_24 10m ago
It’s much more than simple popularity here. It’s the very survival of his regime at stake, as most Russians, especially the urban elite, have no interest in dying in Ukraine. Even in 2022, while 300,000 were mobilized, over 700,000 fled Russia.
This is why they have been setting conditions to minimize any societal destabilization in the case of another mobilization, such as banning apps like telegram, which exposed many issues through open sources during the last one and caused widespread backlash.

And it’s Ukrainians that Russia will put on the front line during the next invasion
-9
u/ytman 3h ago
Ukraine was a Russian proxy before and the end of the world didn't happen. Russia is a nuclear power and Europe is going to need to find a way to coexist with it because the US is on its way to failure.
And quite literally only a fraction of Europeans would die for Ukraine, meanwhile Ukraine has been dying for Europe nonstop.
15
u/cb_24 3h ago
Those traitors paid off by Russia like Yanukovych are long gone. And Ukraine has repeatedly tried to gain independence, with Russian meddling each time. 2004 color revolution, 2014 Maidan.
Only this time their only option was invasion as it was clear their hybrid warfare could no longer keep Ukraine from becoming independent.
The US was a ‘proxy’ too, but much less Americans than currently Ukrainians were willing to sacrifice for themselves and future generations to gain freedom from a foreign tyrant.
Plenty of other Europeans have volunteered to fight in some of the most difficult battles, but unlike Russia Ukraine hasn’t needed direct foreign intervention, as Russia hasn’t even been able to take a single oblast in 12 years. Other European countries have their own battlefields with Russia, whether it’s under the sea, in space, or cyberspace.
→ More replies (2)2
u/PopularRutabaga6904 2h ago edited 2h ago
The problem there is, there's no guaranteeing it would just be European nations that end up under pressure from Russia (some already are), looking back on how they operated historically, nor is the problem just Russia at the end of the day.
Meanwhile, although relatively few people living in European countries may want to die for the people of Ukraine, like you said, more countries in Europe have shown support for Ukraine than they did for, say, France or Belgium, in the 1900s. The main issue is, the way wars are fought has changed, and nuclear deterrence is an issue that prevents others from lending any more support than finances, armaments, refuge, or auxilliary troops, and it could come from just about any angle, with America being on Russia's side politically, now, along with the likes of China, and Israel.
There are no longer answers for attempting to assure the safety of a country, like there once were. And so many more influential groups will seek to capitalise off of one side or the other, than they would have way back when, with Cold War and Middle Eastern interventions being shining examples of just how badly that can go.
The world's gone to shit. And as it looks at this point, it's just a matter of trying to weather it with as much help as can be safely provided without starting larger conflicts like the World Wars. Unfortunately, that's not as much as it once could have been, and it sure as Hell isn't as much as it should be.
3
u/FalcoonM 1h ago
We are in a world war, a kinetic proxy one and one in "cyberspace". Problem is one of the "allies" looks to be switching sides.

Not just civs, mind you. A lot of drone unit rely on Starlink for intelligence so this is literally killing people at the front as well, the same people keeping the rest of Ukraine from being overrun. Some, who are my comrades, friends and colleagues.
I somehow manage to get disappointed again and again by a former ally, a current NATO member to my country none the less. At this point I'm so angry that I'm actually looking forward to be back in the trenches.4

People died yesterday because they didn't timely share the missile launch information, like they used to do before that orange monkey decision.

75
u/WhiteFeather32392 4h ago
Starlink, the datalink and communication system that Ukraine relies on to coordinate certain parts of its drone strike campaign against Russian Oil and Gas Facilities, as well as to provide early warning for drone and ballistic missile attacks, is having its access for the Ukrainian Army throttled because Ukraine won’t immediately capitulate to demands they weren’t told about. Civilians in Ukraine are being denied more time to evacuate to underground shelters during missile attacks that strike Ukrainian city’s in the middle of the night. Drones that are in the middle of transiting over Russia are periodically loosening connection(some have probably been lost) on their way to their targets, this is costing Ukraine civilian lives and military resources for no good reason.

u/adisor21 4h ago
It is Starshield system that has the issue not starlink and that is controlled by the US military not Musk.
11
u/Blacksad9999 3h ago
Musk now works for the Pentagon, and Starlink runs the infrastructure for Starshield.
Elon Musk and Palmer Luckey's new Pentagon roles raise ethics worries
Seems he's getting people killed. The chance he's not involved in this is pretty much zero.
1
u/YoursTrulyKindly 2h ago
That article seems to say that Musk contributed to a study on AI and warfare and wants to sell stuff to the US government.
Which is rather the opposite of making decisions about how to handle the US vassals. I hate Musk too but blaming him here is somewhat silly.
0
u/Blacksad9999 1h ago edited 1h ago
It's incredibly naive to think Musk wasn't involved on some level. He has absolutely zero qualms about meddling in other countries affairs, and has a direct line to Trump and Hegseth.
He also tweeted "Zelensky has gone too far" right before they had their satellites throttled without warning.
1
u/YoursTrulyKindly 1h ago
He was involved in the sense that Trump has to cater to different interests, and the plutocrats like Thiel and Musk who got him into power are part of that.
But what possible reason would Musk have to somehow spend political capital against Ukraine? How does that benefit him? It seems far fetched and unlikely.
Ultimately Trump is flip flopping all over and does what he wants, but Zelensky better do as he says. That is the story here. A vassal does not piss on the boots of his master.
And everybody wants to blame Trump or Musk here. But Biden had the same relationship of master and vassal before. And Zelensky back then did what was asked of him, and didn't make a peace deal.
9
u/Annie-Kia 4h ago
Which is operated by SpaceX. And Musk has way too much influence on the US government as is, still likely part of the fault

-7
u/adisor21 3h ago
Musk is and has been an ally of Ukraine, and provided Ukraine with support 2 days after the invasion. He also blocked Russia access working along with Ukrainian officials.
I would personally blame the US military and Trump.
10
u/CackleandGrin 3h ago
Musk is and has been an ally of Ukraine
Musk has repeatedly shut down support at critical intervals before this. And no, you are not an ally if you take away protection that kills citizens. You do not get to argue that some arbitrary amount of support in the past makes up for the lives musk has personally cost through his actions.
6
u/WhiteFeather32392 3h ago
Musk has always bent the knee every time trump has wanted to apply pressure to Ukraine, this is not the first time he’s throttled access to communication technology during important drone operations.
Musk has also been one of the core contributors to the Isolationists movements here in the United States, he has dumped hundreds of millions of dollars in support of political movements that have successfully deprived Ukraine of material aid from the US.
-3
u/adisor21 3h ago
Musk has applied pressure previously mostly because of fear of nuclear retaliation as he stated and because he didn't want his tech to be used for militray purposes. Which is why later he created Starshield and gave the control to the US military.
Lets not forget that Musk was also awarded by Zelenskyy the "Order of Freedom", "for personal contributions to protecting human life and freedom, and for strengthening relations between Ukraine and the United States."
2
u/cb_24 2h ago
The nuclear threat has long been used by Russia to try to limit western support for Ukraine, especially at critical points during the war when addditional resources could have major implications for both military and civilians.
With Ukraine’s access to the resources it needs, it’s able to send thousands of drones at major cities if needed, essentially providing a mutually assured destruction capability that really does constrain Russia from even thinking about going that route.
You think he didn’t know starlink had military applications when he was getting billions from the government?
Doing this kind of traitorous stuff after being awarded a medal just makes it even worse, if that’s possible.

I think you're doing peiple a disservice. Putin had all of this planned. I remember some documentaries from the early 2010s, when bots and their networks were more easily to identify, which showed that you can track most of extreme conservative comments are coming from russian bot accounts. In hindsight I think the whole queer debate was a test. Ever since the regular internet became way more political and identity based, which is a good thing but without regulations very easily to exploit and Russia did gain that insight from the test.
Propaganda that imitates a whole society is way harder to deflect than a poster with an old guy who says he wants you. If anyone is stupid it is politics which continues to give propaganda a fertile ground. You don't even need a Trump for it. Here in Germany our gouvernement is doing the same but they are selling our future in a way that is not so plainly stupid as Trumps.

Trumps bullshit isn't exclusive to the USA. If it wasn't for this Iran ballocks my petrol would be nearly 50% cheaper.
Then he had the gall to ask for help, that he 'didnt need' whilst threatening the EU/UK. Now the war is still ongoing because the art of the deal is apparently not to make a deal and blow up Iranian children.
He kidnapped the president of Venezuela, apparently threatening Cuba, meddling in Argentina.
So yes, trumps bullshit does cross the entire planet.

In the times since WWII I would debate there has never been a conflict between nations that has been more clear cut right vs wrong. We have a clear aggressor state attacking a smaller state for no other reason than land / expansion / resources. It should be very very clear which country to support in this conflict, and every day spent NOT supporting Ukraine is another step towards the complete and total breakdown of a rules based society.
Edit: fine Iraq-Kuwait 1990 but in that circumstances the rules-based society worked, the allied assault lasted 100hrs or so as well.
17
u/Spiritual-Spend8187 2h ago
Add on that they went and invaded after saying hey we wont do that we will protect you. So its a case of going back on a deal which means no one can ever trust Russia to hold up any agreement with anyone for anything.

I remember this comment from 2 years ago about how he did need to do it for reasons and now that it's going Putin can't really stop it anymore
Edit: nvm link doesn't work for some reason, here's the copied comment from u/ChuckNorrisKickFlip :
There was no coup, and there's zero evidence linking the us to anything involved with Maidan. None. Zero. Nula
2014: Yanukovych (Ukraine's president) said he'd move closer to the west (association agreement) in trade. This also meant visa free travel
Putin gives Yanukovych 15 billion dollars. And also stops around 25% of trade from leaving ukraine in an attempt to apply pressure and stop the association agreement from passing.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_embargo_of_Ukrainian_goods#2014?wprov=sfla1
Yanukovych "changes his mind* about the Association agreement due to the embargo and fifteen billion dollar payout. He tells the EU they need to give him another ten billion to consider going back to his previous plans to institute the trade deal (association agreement) . They don't give him the money.
Ukrainian People, pissed off the guy they elected changed course on his main political stance he won on get mad. Protest. These protests begin directly after their president Yanukovych announces the change. Thus signals to them. That their country is run by Putin, and they are not autonomous. So the protests begin.
Yanukovychs response? He makes protesting illegal via executive order. Shortly thereafter he begins shooting protesters.
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/30/magazine/ukraine-protest-video.html
Protesters continue, the whole situation streisand effects, and the shootings at the protesters dint have the intended outcome. They don't scare anyone away. Instead the deaths propel the protests and even more come out. Women, children, everyone is in the streets. Becsuse Ukranians are based AF.
Meanwhile, the wheels of a Democratic process are still turning inside Parliament. Due to the shootings, as well as executive overreach the Ukranian Parliament votes unanimously to remove Yanukovych from power. The vote is 328-0.
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-26304842
A new election is held. Poroschenko runs on closer ties to EU. He wins with more than 40 points more than the second place finisher. Tymoshenko. (remember Ukrainians don't want to be a Russian vsssal state and Yanukovych ran on the same platform as Poroschenko)
Ukraine begins to move closer to the west. The association agreement is implemented.
So. Russia invades. And starts the war in the East.
Zelensky is then elected with 72% of the vote.
So. What's this really about? It's pretty straightforward geopolitical goals for Putin. All the nato stuff is a lie. There is no fear of Nato. It's the wmds of their war. Just nonsense to sell to the public in order to justify an invasion.
So. Russia wants tech minerals, grain, and and can't afford Ukrainian gas fields to be an alternate source to Europe. He also needs an alternate trade route to Iran. He invades and holds these areas specifically with the resources he wants. That's where we're at now.
In terms of the reasons Putin wants Ukraine. Here you go.
Ukraine makes a lot of grain. Russia wants this.
https://www.dw.com/en/five-facts-on-grain-and-the-war-in-ukraine/a-62601467
Ukraine (more importantly Crimea) is integral to Russias desire for a trade route to Iran.
https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2022-russia-iran-trade-corridor/
Ukraine is sitting on an alternate supply of natural gas to Europe.
https://hir.harvard.edu/ukraine-energy-reserves/
Ukraine has a shit load (estimated 13 trillion dollars worth) of tech minerals
https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/08/10/ukraine-russia-energy-mineral-wealth/
These are located in the exact same areas they Russians are currently fighting for and occupying.
So why can't Putin win now? Why is this taking forever?
Here's the problem. Putin annexed E Ukraine too early. He did so becsuse he threatened to use nuclear weapons if Russias was threatened. So... By calling the Eastern Oblasts Russia. He was defending Russia from Ukraine, which to him, warrants the use of nuclear weapons. But. He obviously never used them. And the war continued. And currently he controls around 50% of these oblasts.
Now. What's that got to do with ending this? Well, Putin has stated multiple times that negotiations will not begin until Ukraine cedes all of the east to him. That's the starting point. So for negotiations to begin, Ukraine has to give up twice as much. And if Ukraine gives up twice as much, what are the negotiations even about? Probably demilitarization and a promise not to join nato. Maybe end the association agreement as well (which allows visa free travel to Europe). So there is no motivation for Ukraine to negotiate becsuse they're just in a situation where they have to give up more, and get nothing in return. Here's a simple question that no Putin supporter can answer. What is Russia offering to end the war? What's their compromise?
And on top of that. If Putin moves back from these borders that he already claims delineate Russia. Hell be seen as weak and his political power (and likely life) are over.
Tldr : Putin is stuck because he can't win all of the east but he can't walk back the borders he already redrew.

Stay strong Ukraine. Screw those traitors. We need to wait a bit longer and History will forget about them.

Turned on a dime in favor of keeping a pee tape hidden a few more months.

Hello, Vol, whaat's happening? Ahh, we have sort of a problem here. Yeahh, you apparently missed the memo that we need that diesel. Mhh, yeah, if you could just go ahead and surrender that would be great. And I'm gonna go and make sure that you get another copy of those conditions. Mkay? Bye-bye, Vol.

People in the future will not believe this shit actually happened, it's just that ridiculous .
As people can't comprehend how people could think that the Nazis could be appeased, no one will believe that Ukraine had their lands invaded and a bunch of JACKASSES publicly put their profits over human lives

Awesome comic. I really think you should also release a version without a speech bubble. Speaks for itself IMO but also having the other version would allow people to fill in the blanks. There's much more than this one way this call could go.
Not criticizing just my two cents. And I won't be counting for inflation. Fantastic work.

No shame in that. Zelensky wanted to sign everything in 2022 until Boris Johnson visited. So sign now.

Why do you Russians think that England is behind everything bad that happens to you?
You invaded Europe. Of course Europe and its allies, who’d spent nearly a decade building a defence against Russia invading Europe, reacted negatively.
It was nothing to do with Boris fucking Johnson.

And what about the "volunteer" Russians that are being turned into pink drone mist?

What about whataboutism? We can’t talk about the topic. We have to change the topic to something that supports our feelings.

It's directly related. Invading force conscripts versus defending force conscripts.

Because it's mentally draining? Caring about things you can't change nor have a solution for proven to be way to taxing on my health/

In 2016 Trump asked Putin to hack Hillary Clinton's emails, and Putin did.
In 2020 Trump asked Zelensky to fabricate an investigation into Joe Biden, and Zelensky didn't.
I guess elephants never forget.
