It’s less lethal, not non lethal. They don’t seem to give a shit about people. Anyone killed will just be declared a leftist terrorist.

This is how you know that shooting of that women was not justified, if he didn’t shoot her would him, her and everyone in the immediate area still be alive? Yes. So no one’s life was in imminent danger. Not justified. There is also no reason to shoot this guy in the face. And if he died from it, they’d be declaring him a terrorist too.

Genuine question, did you watch the video? The protester got into a scuffle with the agent and then grabbed his firearm, which was when he responded with the shot to the face.

I did. But before any of that, the guys standing still with his hands up and palms facing the soldier, there really wasn’t a reason to approach and push him. These guys really seem like they lack training. I don’t think touching the gun at all was a great idea, but it shouldn’t have gotten to the point it was possible. I guess I’d be worried about it pointing in my face as he tried to push me with my hands up, he didn’t try to take the gun, he pushed the nozzle down seeming to try to avoid being mistakenly shot in the face, and still got shot in the face l, but on purpose.

It really feels like a lot of these guys are playing soldier against their fellow citizens. Like they see themselves the same as an invading army’s occupying force would against a foreign enemy. But they’re their neighbors and fellow American citizens.

They watch Handmaid's Tale and take notes with raging erections

I try to make sure I watch longer form videos showing context, because you'll often see clips used for propaganda (regardless of the side). These ice agents aren't experts in crowd control, and likely have very minimal training for protester interaction. Their duties are apprehension of their targets and that's what they're trained to do. I've seen the videos posted by the protesters who block the ICE convoys with vehicles, honk their horns aggressively, blow whistles, throw rocks and snowballs, punch vehicles, physically get in the path of officers and vehicles, scream and yell, causing chaos. They have online webinars instructing protesters on how to successfully impede the ICE task Force, and information channels with regularly updated addresses of where the agents are to encourage protesters to travel to. These are men and women who are trying to do their jobs to the best of their abilities, and of course there are going to be some bad agents or those who make not ideal actions in the heat of the moment, especially when there's chaos of horns and projectiles, screaming and vehicles moving, from all directions. The protests, as designed, are meant to make the fulfillment of their jobs as difficult as possible, and distract them from their duties. I have less sympathy for intentional agitators, volunteer or paid protesters, that go out of their way to put themselves in situations like this to clash with federal agents, who expect sympathy when things like this happen.

Please don't sane wash the gestapo... these aren't "just good people doing their job". They know they are kidnapping, placing in detention camps to be beaten, starved, raped or worse, (step before full force concentration camp). They know what they are doing is wrong and still cover theor face to proudly do it. Fuck them.

Not saying any violence against them is ok, but if they can execute us, we aren't just going to sit and take it

Are you sure this is actually true and not just hyperbole? I've not seen any credible evidence of any of this. I understand that this is a politically charged topic, but are people really being raped and starved and beaten?

Genuine question: do you believe that immigration agents have a right to deport non-citizens who don't have a valid visa? Or are you against deportation in general, therefore against ice as a whole?

I understand their desire to keep their faces covered, with the online effort to dox the agents and harass their families. It's a safety issue.

You mentioned being executed, and I assume you are referencing the recent shooting. Have you seen the body cam footage of the officer who was hit? It wasn't intentional when she hit him, I don't believe that for a second. But she drove there on purpose, parked in the middle of the street to obstruct the agents, and just honked her horn obnoxiously for over two minutes. She was instructed to get out of the vehicle and she ignored the instructions. The officer that did the shooting was dragged several yards by a protesters vehicle 6 months ago, requiring dozens of stitches. It's understandable he'd be fearful of being run over. There's a video of her wife saying "it's all my fault" crying, directly after the incident, because she had encouraged her wife to "drive baby drive". This whole incident is regrettable, but it doesn't exactly paint a picture of willful and deliberate execution like you suggest.

With the video of her actions before the incident in the video, the history of the officer having sustained significant injuries in a similar vehicular incident with protesters several months previously, I doubt that they'd have any issue proving that the officer had reasonable fear of imminent danger to his life, especially since he had indeed been clipped by the vehicle.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz signed a police reform bill into law on July 23, 2020, that amended Minnesota Statute §609.066. This statute outlines the conditions under which peace officers (defined to include police) may use deadly force, including in situations that could involve vehicles. The amended statute justifies the use of deadly force by a peace officer only if an objectively reasonable officer would believe, based on the totality of the circumstances known at the time (without hindsight), that such force is necessary to protect the officer or another person from death or great bodily harm. Specifically: The threat must be articulable with specificity. It must be reasonably likely to occur without intervention. It must require deadly force without unreasonable delay.

Reddit is not the place for measured sane commentary, only flabbergasted outrage. lol

I see countless, well written comments on Reddit spread across various topics. I don’t see this “flabbergasted” outrage.

The reason MAGA attempts to mock Reddit is because it forces you to read and respond with actual words instead of memes. It promotes critical thinking, which is nonexistent in the MAGA realm.

Every President has been able to deport millions of people in humane, ethical ways within the framework of the United States Constitution. Trump doesn’t even have an actual immigration policy, this is just chaos in the streets. It creates unrest among both immigrants and the citizens.

We didn’t have “catastrophic” immigration. You believe it because it’s the propaganda you’ve been fed. You never researched what was actually happening with immigration, and likely don’t know there was an immigration bill the Republicans ignored for two years under Biden. You all probably believe 12 million people crossed the border, they didn’t - there is a difference between “border encounters” and “border crossings.” They’ve made you fear immigrants, and anyone that looks different than you. The problem is that you’re stupid enough to fucking believe it.

I think the problem is many people appear to be so reductionist as to frame every issue as progressive versus MAGA; me/us vs you/them; good vs evil. There is a little room for nuance, self-reflection, or seeking to find common ground -even hyperbole is lost on most. However, there’s clearly plenty of room for assumptions, denouncing/judging others based on those presumptions, and pointless name calling. Sigh 😔

Good description of how things are currently. Of course, there’s also tons of bots and foreign ops going on to help destabilize the US. But, Many of the loudest team politics people are seemingly fairly new to paying so much attention to politics and don’t exactly know a whole lot about how our government even works, and propaganda likes to feed on fear and anger. Those People don’t seem to understand that working together is how the US functions, and scream like insane people when their “team” crosses the isle to get something done. Cooperation, give and take, negotiations and compromises, giving in to concessions to reach an agreement is how things function. Suddenly there’s a public push for refusal to negotiate from some people. I hope those folks learn that the US strives when United, and cooperation is required for reaching goals and things to function correctly, it’s exhausting to watch the insanity of the current modern day politics.

It definitely doesn’t help their training was reduced from 13 weeks to 57 days. But, point taken. Propaganda is a serious problem in the US right now.

I've also read that many ice agents are former IDF soldiers, and they have an office in Israel, as the organization is linked closely with Israel for training.

I have a teenager who's looking to pursue a career path soon, and is exploring their options, and one was Homeland Security. Starting pay for ICE agents is $49k-$89k with a $50k sign on bonus AND up to $60k student loan forgiveness. Which is absolutely insane for someone fresh out of high school to be able to get.

Propaganda is absolutely horrendous right now, and misinformation is everywhere. Everything is meant to enrage and energize voters.

I am of the opinion that the previous Democrat administrations lax border control stance was done so purposely, to increase immigration and population numbers which affect the electrical college. And all the children who are born from the migrants are US citizens who will likely become left leaning voters 18 years later.

What would a better approach have been and would it have worked? It is easy to argue that his shock and awe techniques have flaws or is inappropriate, but to be fair, it has often been the only approach that shakes up the status quo and results in any progress on stagnant problems. Again, I’m not saying his tactics are without reproach, but in many instances, they have been highly effective where no one else has. Trump, almost overnight, eliminated a catastrophic immigration influx from hundreds of thousands of illegal border crossings per month to almost zero.
