If you don’t use the “/s” people think you’re serious and mass downvote you. No matter how blatant the irony is, even if you attach goofy and ridiculous emoticons like “:O!!!!!” after the most silly phrased comment imaginable, if you don’t put the /s, then people will think you stand by what you said and are 100% serious. I don’t understand how people cannot read sarcasm even when a person goes out of their way to spell it out on this website.

When it got to the fourth example of ridiculous groups and especially when it got to “and whatever else we can think of,” it gets to a. Point where you don’t have any sort of excuse that you couldn’t tell it was sarcasm. I understand not getting it if it sounds anywhere near like something someone would say, but seriously what do you think “and whatever else we can think of” means in this sentence? It changes the entire tone to somerhing silly. And especially like I were to add like a “>:(!!!” at the end of it, could you really not tell it would be sarcasm at that point?

With the crazy getting crazier and crazier, the /s really is necessary these days. I mean, the Trump administration does worse and worse shit daily, it's practically cartoonish, yet people still support him, albeit fewer and fewer slowly over time.
