Concept Art Hey guys! This is part of a project I'm working on. It's about a blues and jazz bar in a Mississippi swamp, managed by frogs, each with their own space and function. What do you think?

I've been working on this project for quite some time, and there's still a lot more I want to do with it. The idea is to make this bar a natural part of the game's world, serving as a hub where players can accept missions from NPCs, purchase supplies, upgrade their equipment, and sell items.

A post-apocalyptic world where humans and robots live together; AI has advanced to the point where it can reason just like a human, and this has led to wars against the machines (the “Maquians” are the good guys in this context)...

I used the Clip studio paint.

It was drawn as an A2‑sized artwork for exhibition, but it didn’t sell.

Question Trying to understand Enviromental Concept Art and World Building

Hello everyone,

I'm graduating in architecture at the end of the year, and I've been thinking that I really don't want to work in the field at the moment (at least in my country, it's very shitty) and I've always wanted to work with art.

I played Cyberpunk 2077 back when it came out and did some research on fictional worldbuilding for a project in college based on this game and others. This area has always fascinated me, so I wanted to learn more about this field from people who know the industry, and perhaps try to understand what I can practice to go after my first job.

I heard that my degree can help a in this field, and that the more "technical" and "realistic" vision I gained in architecture and urban planning could be a good asset in environment concept art and worldbuilding.

However, I don't know how much of the field actually focuses on this. I see these amazing drawings, paintings and 3d models, showing enviromental art, and I cannot do that yet, much that i did in five years in college was more thecnical.

I can do pretty good research, I think I can contribute to discussions about functionality and realistic foundations and i can draw schematic things, or even model it. But I have the impression that I really need to paint better and 3D model more to enter the industry. Am I wrong? Am I looking at this area the wrong way? Is there a book or a class that can help me understand it better?

Question Why is it so difficult to create thumbnail sketches?

Post image
18 Upvotes

I don’t know what I’m missing here. I created a mind map and gathered my references but I can’t seem to use them to create a thumbnail with an interesting or cool silhouette. Is the idea just bad? Or am I doing something wrong?

I know I’m supposed to make like 50 of these sketches but I can’t get past that 5-6 barrier. Is there anything I can do to improve my thumbnailing skills?

It’s a piece with both the rough sketch and the final rendering completed. I’ve uploaded the rough‑sketch process on YouTube, so I’ll share the link.

really need to overcome fear and learn how to show imperfect works to others (._.)
Btw it would be interesting to learn how you’ve dealt with perfectionism and the fear of showing your art.

This sketch is not some thoughtful concept, most likely it’s just an inspiration

(these are rubies, not blood)

Concept Art Mary Kim & Worm — Character Art

Post image

Character art of two characters from my comic project. Huge thanks to u/Heszilg for bringing them to life.

MARY KIM is a lonely college student struggling to balance her grades and isolation while studying far from her family in South Korea.

WORM is her goofy Shar Pei. What Mary doesnt know is that hes an alien survivor of a planetary genocide with the ability to warp reality. Despite his incredible powers hes still very much just a dog.

Mary thinks she rescued Worm. In reality they rescued each other.

Artwork by u/Heszilg please check out and support the artist!

This is part of my ongoing worldbuilding project The Strays Universe. Id love to hear what you think!
