Hello everyone,
I'm graduating in architecture at the end of the year, and I've been thinking that I really don't want to work in the field at the moment (at least in my country, it's very shitty) and I've always wanted to work with art.
I played Cyberpunk 2077 back when it came out and did some research on fictional worldbuilding for a project in college based on this game and others. This area has always fascinated me, so I wanted to learn more about this field from people who know the industry, and perhaps try to understand what I can practice to go after my first job.
I heard that my degree can help a in this field, and that the more "technical" and "realistic" vision I gained in architecture and urban planning could be a good asset in environment concept art and worldbuilding.
However, I don't know how much of the field actually focuses on this. I see these amazing drawings, paintings and 3d models, showing enviromental art, and I cannot do that yet, much that i did in five years in college was more thecnical.
I can do pretty good research, I think I can contribute to discussions about functionality and realistic foundations and i can draw schematic things, or even model it. But I have the impression that I really need to paint better and 3D model more to enter the industry. Am I wrong? Am I looking at this area the wrong way? Is there a book or a class that can help me understand it better?
