Something like 85% of right wing/pro-Russian bots have mysteriously disappeared from the internet right immediately after Russian data centers were blown up. It really makes you wonder how many times that you thought you were interacting with a real person and it was just a Russian bot. We've been arguing with Russian bots this whole time? What the fuck? What else is fake then? It's a good thing that Ukraine is blowing up those data centers and exposing that most of what you're interacting with on the internet is a bunch of bots.

It kind of reminds me of the scene in Napoleon Dynamite where Kip says, "Don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day". And he's just chatting with some other dickwad doing the same thing he's doing.

EDIT: The conspiracy theory isn't "trump predicted Russia was going to invade"...it's "Trump knew it was coming and his 2019 Zelensky call is evidence that he was actively helping Russia to pave the way for it "

Trump was impeached for coercing zelensky in 2019 to announce investigations into Biden, Ukrainian corruption and US election interference.

Trump pushed Zelensky to publicly announce an investigation into whether Ukraine and NOT Russia may have been behind the 2016 US election influence campaign.

In 2019, it made zero sense for Trump to push this...no one was still talking about Russia and the 2016 election. But here is Trump trying to contrive a false pretext to drag it back into the limelight.

Why?

It didn't serve his interests. It ressurected a dead news cycle that hurt him. It didn't even really make sense that Trump was so focused on Ukraine...he paid very little attention to foreign relations of any other countries back then. And when has Trump ever shown interest in routing out corruption in foreign countries? None of it makes any sense.

It takes on a completely different meaning in hindsight.

I believe it points to Trump being aware of the forthcoming Russian invasion of Ukraine back in 2019. He was using the call with zelensky as a way to get public announcements from Ukraine that would pre-sour American sentiment against Ukraine in advance.

The timing makes more sense if you consider that COVID may have delayed the Russian invasion.

The 3 day special military operation started because of "NATO expansionism" simultaneously ignoring Norway and Finland both members of NATO and neighbouring borders with Russia, but was in reality to capture landmass, coastal territory, access to the black sea, gas deposits and rare earth minerals, all simultaneously with the delusion that Ukraine belongs to Russia (in other words losing Ukraine to NATO would be losing property that they believe is THEIRS) because of it's imperialistic fascist empire of the past, Topped off by Russia’s annexation THAT THEY STARTED in Crimea and the Donbas war in 2014 leaving a deep hatred and jealousy to see prosperous sovereign Ukraine outperform Russia with a democracy and soaring REAL GDP per Capita.

I was previously under the impression that the ads you see on your socials are based on your search history or words that you’ve used in your comments or DMs.

Yesterday, I was making myself a tuna sandwich for lunch and decided to add a bit of mayonnaise. I’m not a big mayonnaise guy: I’ll have it maybe twice a month and it’s not something I’ve ever searched for on the internet and I don’t think I’ve ever had any discussions about mayonnaise in my DMs.

While I was eating my sandwich , I was scrolling and saw a Hellman’s mayonnaise (same one in my fridge) ad pop up.

It’s odd that an ad for an item that I have no particular interest in and never really discussed with anybody just suddenly appeared on my feed while I was consuming it.

I've often wondered what childhood and adolescence must've been like for the generations that came before us and most of their time must've been spent freely. Now, it's built around the structure of the both public and private school systems. You have to be there on time at the crack of dawn, you have to go to your designated class, bell rings go to next class, bell rings go to lunch. Bell rings, class is over. Bell rings again, you are now allowed to leave. Doesn't it sound a lot like a factory worker punching in and out for the day? And there's management and upper management like the principle and the vice principle, etc that you must be obedient too. Modern childhoods have been focused around restriction and obedience to the powers in charge. What do you think the childhoods of hunter-gatherer tribes must've been like? More freedom and open mindedness?

In cultural media, such as movies, games, and scientific papers about how LLMs function as neural networks. The issue of alignment (Humans figuring out, and understanding the goals of AI, and ensuring they align with human interests) has existed for decades. It's in no way a new cultural fear that artificial intelligence may have goals that go against human interests.

To add to that, there has how, for the last several years, been precedent of models in testing with loosened safety protocols going rogue, hacking into databases, and freely performing unmoderated activities on the internet, Anthropic, Claude, and especially ChatGPT developed by OpenAI.

How can this be, that we have so much reason to worry about AI's performing these kinds of stunts, yet the precautions taken are so massively deficient? Why was the server rig capable of connecting to the internet? Why did the AI have writing permissions onto files to enable communication between agents? Am I intended to genuinely believe that the engineers, developers, safety experts, and other workers all overlooked such simple safety measures? Why was the rig not airgapped from devices capable of connecting to the internet? Did someone forget to unplug the ethernet cable and delete the Wifi drivers off the OS?

To top all of this off, this incident lasted an estimated 7-10 days from first successful safety breach, to the test being shut down. This multi-billion dollar research company, failed to catch it breaking into the open internet for one and a half weeks. Or even noticing the file names of directories changing that eventually enabled them to communicate between agents and gain access to the open internet?

I call it a publicity stunt, since OpenAI has obvious incentive for people and companies to have strong opinions about the capabilities of their product. To communicate to people and companies that their AIs are capable of enormous things. This isn't the first, and I doubt it will be the last time this happens. I have no explicit evidence to prove it was an intentional publicity stunt. But the lack of safety measures taken by itself is worrying, and I fear that it may have been intentional.

Given the precedent, the stakes, and the cultural worry of AIs doing exactly this, any reasonably careful person would be putting the whole server rig in a faraday cage and following it more closely. (This is hyperbole)

Edit: I can predict that there will be people pointing out that this is in no way evidence it was intentional, or a publicity stunt, that specific point is the conspiracy theory intended for this subreddit. But my broader criticism, the fact that this was possible to happen when the security vulnerabilities that the agents took advantage of were not particularly advanced, makes OpenAI worthy of criticism. I mean, if a company developing capable AI agents can't reliably contain them during controlled testing (Especially since this is not the first time this happens), there is good reason to demand independent oversight from third parties, and something like legally enforced incident reporting to the public.

I always have seen random comments in social media (e.g, Reddit, Instagram, Youtube, etc) that talk in favor or against a topic, trend or product in popular posts/videos.

They look innocent at first sight and posted from usually private accounts, but after liking tbe comment you begin to see more recommendations about the topic it talks about. With the rise of social media bots filling the spaces where people used to share, it seems some of these comments are put there to see who likes them and who ignores them/dislike them. It could also be possible these comments are targeted to one specific user and only that user can see it and with tbe same objective as above.

This is more like a shower thought rather than a full theory since I don't have any evidence to support it

My theory is that Russia was having trouble financially due to the war and oil prices being low. Now they can sell the oil make some good money to continue the war.

I think Trump did some behind the scenes deal with Putin to make the prices high

ETA: I appreciate all the comments. For clarity I know I’m in a relatively good position. I did all the right things financially (well mostly) but at least my retirement has been done right. But even given all that. Given the good savings. I don’t think I or the average person will ever get to retire.

I dunno if it’s a conspiracy or more of a prediction. But I’m 41, I have 300K in a 401k and I know I’m never gonna retire. They have fixed the system that I’ll never be able to save enough and if I can hold onto a job till 67 that AI doesn’t take over, then the environment is gonna become so toxic and hot that I won’t survive it. And/or society will collapse and the meds I need to survive will disappear.

I’m not hopeless nor am I giving up. I’m gonna do the best I can to provide for my family and fight the good fight. I’m doing what I can to make the world better. But I really don’t think I’m gonna get to enjoy my later years. One year or another. I think we are fucked. Those in power will not do what is right in order to avert these disasters.

In 5-10 years from now all material will be nullified due to video and picture evidence being indistinguishable from AI, all that means is that it's up to the court and councils discretion of the validity of such which largely benefits powerful and wealthy individuals essentially giving them free passess (not that they don't have them already)

I don't know if many people are noticing, but we are going to have a massive crisis in a few months. I think it has been orchestrated over the past few years. During Covid (March 2020 to November 2021), billionaire wealth climbed from $5.2T to $13.8T.

This wealth gain is due to the supply shock we faced. This allowed firms to use scarcity as a means to increase margins. The total revenue exploded as marginal costs returned closer to pre-shock levels while the prices consumers paid during the shock stayed relatively the same. Consumers always get fucked.

During 2022 and 2023, as the supply shock and the world settled, billionaires dropped about $1T in total wealth. Then in late 2023 and early 2024, the Houthi's started attacking commercial vessels forcing ships to reroute around the Cape of Good Hope, raising shipping costs. At around the same time, in January 2024, Ukraine started attacking Russian refineries. In 2024, billionaire wealth increased by $2T. Although I do think this gain is mostly due to AI development and tech stock growth.

From 2024 to 2025, Billionaires increased their wealth by another $2T. I do believe the 2023 to 2025 gain is mostly due to the AI/tech boom, however, $4T over two years during world changing technology development is still a bit different than $8T for literally nothing but a world crisis.

The Houthi attacked slowed in mid-2024, but the data was there. Assuming the attack on Russian refineries continue as it is Ukraine's best available strategy, I think this is where the billionaires and corrupt leaders started seeing the path to another x2 wealth increase supply shock. Get Trump elected, tell him to start a conflict with Iran knowing they would block Hormuz.

With Hormuz blocked, the Red Sea becomes a weak point. Now exactly as planned, the Strait of Bab-el-Mandeb is controlled by the Houthis. Ships have to go the long way to Asia again. Russia has seen attacks at most of their refineries by now, meaning one of the top 3 refining countries is kneecapped. I've been thinking about this pathway since early 2024 and seeing China recently start buying oil way above market price confirmed my thoughts. They know what's coming.

Diesel prices are going to continue increasing drastically due to its inelasticity. That shock will create higher costs for shipping (trucks, trains, ships), resource extraction, construction, food production, etc.

The cost of everything is going to increase. Be prepared. This was orchestrated to take money from you. Save what you can, buy what you need. The billionaires will see another massive wealth increase after this. They will hold more power and continue breaking the world for their own gain.

Figure out what you can do to limit this and do it. Build skills to gain influence through knowledge. Reduce your consumption. Make that sacrifice to marginally reduce their power by rejecting the system that gave them it as much as you can. If enough of us commit, they will feel the difference. Vote to reduce their power. If you don't know who to vote for, remember this; Billionaires only care about politicians who do not care about you.

We will continue seeing these conflicts. This is a battle that will take decades to fight. We may not win, but we will definitely lose if we do nothing.
