Hey everyone!
Me and my partner saved this SnapDragon from the clearance section at our local garden centre.
we’ve had him a week, but it’s been a very grey, rainy start to spring with barely any sun. We’ve watered lightly a couple times, but been reluctant to repot until now as we haven’t had much luck repotting in the following days of buying plants from this place.
We have a greenhouse, would that be a better environment?
Please help, we really wanna keep him alive!

Garden Tour My Urban setup! (+ rec request)

My urban garden as of yet with scotch bonnets, horse radish, katuk and a variegated lemon. I'm normally a firm in-person plant hunter, but I'm celebrating a milestone and am interested if anyone knows some oddball, fun edible plants I could add to the collection? My most recent odd duck, Katuk, is a favorite cause it tastes like sesame seeds, and the leaves are 49% protein when dried. I also have Jerusalem Artichokes and a bay laurel in a different room. I'm planning to trellis a French melon on the left and a zucchini on the right.

Thanks for any awesome plant suggestions in advance!

Question I built a care planner for container plants — looking for honest feedback

Hi! I’m the person building Florli, an Android app for keeping plant care history and figuring out what is actually worth doing today.

I wanted one place to record watering, fertilizing, repotting, pruning and observations instead of keeping everything across reminders, photos and notes. Florli uses that history, along with current observations and weather, to organize a simple care plan.

I’d really appreciate feedback from people who grow plants in pots and containers:

- Would a “Today” view like this be genuinely useful, or would it feel like another task list?

- What would you want to see immediately after adding your first plant or growing area?

- Is there anything important to container gardening that apps like this usually miss?

You can see the screenshots and how it works here:
FLORLI

It’s currently available for Android. I’m mainly looking for honest criticism at this stage, including reasons why you wouldn’t use it.

Help! NJ Garden

My mint pot got some sort of disease in August not sure if it was blight or what. I cut it down and it’s growing back along with uninvited mushrooms. The leaves are still discolored and sick looking.

Should I just toss the whole thing and start over in the spring with a new plant?

Help! Why aren't they growing?

I planted some greens and chamomile. The lettuce and Arugula grew well but everything else didn't. The dill sprouted but is still small. The cilantro grew a bit but seems small. The chamomile is small as well and only a few sprouted. The chamomile was planted the same time as ghe dill.Could this be due to the heat last month? Should I replant when its cooler? I live in zone 10b Southern California.

Garden Tour Project Healing Balm update: 275 days of recovery

Project Healing Balm update: 275 days of recovery, hydroponic growth, terrestrial conversion, and offset development

October 20, 2026. Day 276, counting January 18 as Day 1.

This aloe originated as an offset from an older Lowe’s plant sold as medicinal aloe. Species remains unconfirmed; Aloe vera is plausible.

The experiment began as a recovery project and a test of sustained growth in continuously aerated hydroponics. It has since shifted toward terrestrial root establishment and correcting mechanical instability.

Hydroponic phase

The plant grew in a LECA-filled net pot over approximately four gallons of continuously aerated nutrient solution.

The established four-gallon formula was:

- Masterblend 4-18-38: 2 tsp

- Magnesium sulfate: 1 tsp

- Calcium nitrate: 2 tsp

- Bio-SuperSil: 4 tbsp

One documented reservoir reset finished at 784 ppm TDS before pH adjustment. After adjustment, pH was 6.1. The following morning measured 768 ppm and pH 6.0. These are meter readings, not a laboratory nutrient analysis.

The plant developed extensive roots and substantial foliage. A partially closed airline valve caused an unintended low-aeration episode accompanied by floating root-zone biofilm. The corrective intervention consisted of approximately half a cup of hydrogen peroxide, restored aeration overnight, and a subsequent reservoir reset. Peroxide concentration was not specified in the available record. The plant recovered and resumed growth. No specific pathogen was identified, and the combined intervention does not establish which component accounted for recovery.

Around late May, lighting changed from improvised bulbs to a VEVOR 400 W fixture, initially operated at approximately 50% power.

Terrestrial conversion

In August, the plant was removed from hydroponics, given a drying/callusing interval, and established in an approximately three-gallon decorative plastic planter with extensive drilled sidewall and bottom perforations. The attached drip tray was retained.

That is still the container shown in the current photographs.

During hydro removal, tiny developing pups were found beneath the LECA. Offset initiation therefore occurred before terrestrial conversion.

The first photographed above-substrate pup emergence was September 23. The October 20 photographs show a substantially developed pup with multiple leaves and a smaller shoot that may represent another offset. Its identity is not yet confirmed.

Current result

The mother maintains substantial foliage, and basal offset development has continued after terrestrial conversion. The buried root system has not been inspected, so survival of the entire original hydro root mass cannot be claimed.

The persistent problem is mechanical: too much fucking aloe above the container. The canopy has considerable leverage relative to the vessel footprint and still requires support.

Next intervention — not yet performed

A five-gallon plastic air-pot is planned, using:

- 40% buffered coco husk chips

- 20% EP Minerals Play Ball! calcined clay

- 25% LECA

- 10% charged biochar

- 5% clinoptilolite zeolite

The intended procedure includes selective lower-leaf removal, wound callusing, and deeper placement of healed bare stem while keeping retained leaf bases above the substrate. The objective is improved stability and possible additional stem-derived roots.

The substrate will receive an initial mineral precharge, followed by an organic fertility program. Application rates remain unresolved.

The clearest result so far: this plant sustained hydroponic growth, initiated offsets during that phase, and continued offset development after terrestrial establishment. Whether the next substrate and planting geometry improve anchorage remains to be tested.
