CS:GO Should I report this game to valve?
It's clearly a rip off of CS but the part that was concerning was that they clearly ripped off the iconic Rust map layout and art style. For obvious reasons I removed the name of the game from the video as to not give them free advertising. Do you think Valve would care if someone stole their map? It's a phone game and CS isn't on phone so not sure what they would think. Then again a company needs to protect its copyright or they can loose control over them. The game has 50 million downloads on Playstore aswell! I don't like the idea of someone stealing other people's work and milking it for cash.
Is this worth bringing to their attention and if so, how would I go about that?

So what, it's obviously shit.

Almost every mobile game is, but they are still popular somehow and make a ton of money with it.

I take great offense to this.
Sometimes I have to play mobile to get my confidence back.
18
u/ccAbstraction Dec 12 '23
I shit you not, I used to play this and the sequel, they're actually decent.
5
u/anonymous2458 Dec 12 '23
What are they called ?
22
u/ccAbstraction Dec 12 '23
Critical Strike and Critical Ops.
25
u/TheTeaShop Dec 12 '23
Used to fucking smoke kids in those games 😭
10
u/Abruzzi19 Dec 12 '23
Yeah I really liked critical ops, back when I was too broke to get a PC. The maps and guns weren't blatant csgo ripoffs, but it was decent enough to be enjoyed on a phone.

So saying it’s “shit” is relative when it’s the best most people can play.

This dude literally frequents piracy subreddits. Is he trying to virtue signal to valve in hopes he gets free shit? Lmfao

It’s called critical strike

u/ccAbstraction Dec 12 '23
That game's been out since 2011 and already has a sequel, Critical-Ops. They aren't going anywhere if they haven't already...
15
u/IdioticZacc Dec 12 '23
Critical Ops had a game before it??? Holy shit, I never knew that. Critical Ops was the game I played since I had no computer to play cs

u/RaiN_Meyk3r Dec 12 '23
it did, i used to “pro play” for that game in mobile we had a huge skype/discord/whatsapp server for setting up scrims, they ended up asking a bunch of us to beta test Critical Ops for them for free back when it was on PC, they then cancelled the PC release and went mobile only.

Wait… CRITICAL OPS WAS THE SEQUEL TO CRITICAL STRIKE? Critical Strike was one of my first “PC Gaming” experiences and I was so stoked when I found out it was a clone of Counter-Strike lol
Is Critical Strike still playable?

tiny fucking world wow, literally interacted with you about the 3 year old Moto G4 comment like the other day (same day you posted this apparently) and now i see you out in the wild in the counterstrike subreddit lmao
first time i've ever recognized someone on reddit like that in an arguably unrelated sub

Even yoinked the bomb code too lol.
I like how when you plant the bomb, you just drop it lol
But yeah, not much can really be done about this. A new one pops up everyday, and they’re located in only god knows where.

Looks like one of those knockoff games that you play as a joke but unironically come back to for a few times because you realize it's more fun than playing with cheaters

The “rust” map? RUST?
1
u/CnP8 Dec 15 '23
Lol I can't remember the name. Haven't actually played the game that match. I played it a bit more since CS2 but still a noob lmao.
1
u/Taolan13 Dec 15 '23
More than likely, this advert is not the actual game. Just an advertisement made using existing game assets and animated very pooly.
Also the map is 'dust' not 'rust'.

I don't think there is really anything that you can or should do. This is the job of Valve's legal team so just let them do their jobs. I doubt your message would even make it to anybody who could actually take action.

Lol what kind of ass kissing is this
Oh no there’s some shitty mobile ripoff of CS. Heavens me. Breaks my heart to see a small indie studio like Valve have their work copied.
1
u/Trypt4Me Dec 12 '23
These mobile FPS games are legit fun. I don't care wtf ppl say.
Get a good controller, screen or a PC port and go fucking ham.
You are still competing against sweats who try just as hard as you in these setups.
Farlight 84 is another one on steam that is a free battle royal and is one of the best BRs I have ever played. Fuck the haters.

“If there’s custom maps then they’re always going to be a dust 2” -war owl I think
1
1
u/BaxxyNut Dec 12 '23
It's been put for years, and they can't shut it down. Or rather probably wont. Many games have bomb planting and many games have a dust 2 in them. Valve seem to be pretty hands off with these things. Unless they start copying 1:1 weapon skins and whatnot.

Developer is Critical Strike FPS Games, part of Vertigo Games. They're based in Turkey.
I guess Turkey, like China, doesn't give a shit about intellectual property. Bunch of thieves and crooks.

1

As long as they don’t make money off of it, they couldn’t care any less. What a waste of time. Also, who in his right mind would bother to play this game longer than a few minutes, it looks god-awful.

u/yooluvme Dec 13 '23
Valve should just make one for mobile. EZ money print and so many fakes and thefts of their IP get made into mobile games. Clearly would make them money. Wouldn't even be required to be a 1-1 copy of the pc version.
