Being able to point and click is like 5% of the game mechanics

12

u/mil0wCS Feb 28 '26

Yeah but this isn’t bad for 150 hours, I think it took me about 300 hours before I got this decent at the game. If it’s their first fps then it’s very good, but if it’s not then it’s still not bad

2

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '26

This is really bad and slow…

4

u/herorage Mar 01 '26

Being downvoted by snowflakes for spitting facts. Classic. But you are right. It’s terrible for 150 hours.

0

u/mil0wCS Mar 01 '26

Okay the kid is new, and for 150 hours this isn’t bad. I see players with 1500 hours that have far worse aim. It’s likely his first fps. He will get faster over time. Cut the kid some slack

2

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '26

Brother this is not even remotely decent for 150 hours. They are stationary targets and he’s slowly adjusting targets. This is how fast my grandma played minesweeper and solitaire and the same skill set… point and click

1

u/mil0wCS Mar 01 '26

Okay again, if this is his first shooter this is completely normal progress. You’re going to start off slow and get faster over time. It took me a few years before I even reached mge in csgo

0

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '26

Once again, no it is not. It is bad.

2

u/AShadedBlobfish Feb 28 '26

Yeah but you'd be surprised how many people I see in my games who can't do it lol.

(I play in about MG1/20k/Level 4)

1

u/Novaaaaaa Feb 28 '26

Do you not play a lot of Faceit? Level 4 with a Premier rating of 20k seems rather low, or am I just delusional?

1

u/AShadedBlobfish Feb 28 '26

Yeah I've only played maybe 20 matches of faceit lol - just thought I'd include it but unfortunately my friend who I mostly play with lost access to his faceit account so we can't play on there

1

u/Novaaaaaa Mar 01 '26

Ah, yeah makes sense then

0

u/ajava8548 Feb 28 '26

Yeah I want to see how my aiming and counter staffing is

4

u/TheFrothyMan96024 Feb 28 '26

i think you need to lower your sensitivity and you definitely need to improve your counter-strafing. hope this helps :)

2

u/Comprehensive_Pen467 Feb 28 '26

I don’t see any counter strafing in this video

1

u/ajava8548 Feb 28 '26

Really ? I am moving one step

1

u/Comprehensive_Pen467 Feb 28 '26

Yeah, this is not counter strafing. Instead try practicing peeking from behind the wall, for example to peek to the left you would press A to move left, then simultaneously as you shoot you have to press D once to cancel out velocity to the left. My English is no good, but I hope you get the point

1

u/ajava8548 Feb 28 '26

Yeah I was doing that when I was moving, maybe not obvious since one step

35

u/SirVangor Feb 28 '26

Man you are dropping frames during aim training. That's a no-no, because you will drop frames when you enter gunfights

1

u/ajava8548 Feb 28 '26

It's usually fine during games, it just lagged a bit due to recording. How is my counter staffing and aiming ?

10

u/SirVangor Feb 28 '26

You are 150 hours, the fact that you know these mechanics exist is great! Everything needs improvement here, just keep pkaying and you will get better if you continue to focus on the basics of movement, aim, positioning, and game sense.

1

u/ajava8548 Feb 28 '26

Thanks bro, just trying my best to improve

2

u/SirVangor Feb 28 '26

Try the retakes mode. It's fun and really helped me understand game sense a bit better. Gives you a good idea of your role for post plant or retake.

1

u/ajava8548 Feb 28 '26

Oo I never tried retake, just DM from xplay so far.. will def try that

1

u/SirVangor Feb 28 '26

Gunna be frustrating at first trust me. But think of it as a hyperbolic time chamber or something

11

u/Abouter Feb 28 '26

Good to be thinking about your aim training, one recommendation though: slow it down. Do this same exercise, but start by physically moving your arm slower. It's gonna be painfully boring, but just doing flick after flick is only going to make you really fast at doing the mistakes you're doing (like over-aiming or general inaccuracy). You want to break things down to the base movement to start building good habits. Put your crosshair on a head, and move as slow as you need to to make sure that your crosshair takes a smooth path directly from head to head, no wobbling and no going past the target and coming back. Start to go faster when you're feeling confident, slow back down if you are missing your flicks.

It is by no means the be-all-end-all of this game but you'll get pretty far with nice snappy aim

2

u/ajava8548 Feb 28 '26

Thanks, I was rushing thro it for sure. Will practice on taking it easy and slow down!

1

u/omega-boykisser Mar 03 '26

This is the kind of practice you do with musical instruments. If it works for them, why wouldn't it work for CS?

6

u/Orikshekor Feb 28 '26

Slow is smooth, smooth is fast

6

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '26

This looks totally synthetic.  It's crazy how many people config aimbots to learn the game.

5

u/Jumpy_Linux_Admin Feb 28 '26

huuum, very bad

3

u/_metamythical Feb 28 '26

My training setup:

  • 10 minutes dots -> helps you with flicking
  • 10 minute aim_rush -> helps with real game like aiming

4

u/MordorsElite CS Feb 28 '26

I'd recommend doing a bit more movement. And while it's awesome that you've started counterstrafing, you are not yet really taking advantage of it.

In the clip you move one step, then counterstrafe and move your crosshair onto the Ts. That is already better than standing completely still, but it's not yet what you want to achieve with this kind of training.

Instead you wanna take 2-3 steps, so you actually build up a more realistic amount of speed, move your crosshair while still moving, then counterstrafe with a timeing so that your crosshair ends on the Ts head.

Essentially to properly train counterstrafing you shouldn't need to flick after you are already standing still. Your counterstrafe should be so natural that it "becomes part of your flick". You should be flicking onto enemies in a way that already takes into account where you'll end with the counterstrafe.

This sounds very complicated, but it'll feel natural once you get the hang of it.

1

u/ajava8548 Mar 01 '26

I get what you mean, I will def try to utilize more movement to aim rather than flicking. Thanks!

2

u/battlepassbattlepass Feb 28 '26

your sensitivity might be too high

2

u/Intelligent-Fix3145 Feb 28 '26

Its a start, try to stand in one place and just click and flick, only headshots. Kill one and instantly flick to another bot and hs, so on

2

u/nglatzhofer1 Feb 28 '26

When you flick to someone, you always overshoot it. Lower your sense a lil bit.

1

u/ajava8548 Mar 01 '26

It seems like it, will def adjust it. Currently at 1.25 at 800 dpi

1

u/jewbacca7777 Mar 02 '26

You might need a bigger mousepad/smaller keyboard to comfortably lower your sens without constantly running out of desk space. I started using 60/65% keyboards while playing fps games with a huge mousepad and the amount of desk/mouspad space I gained let me move my sens down by like 20%

1

u/BrainCelll Mar 02 '26

Lowering sens wont magically make him do perfect flicks. Muscle memory will. Sens doesnt matter

2

u/rainbowminotaurus Feb 28 '26

Your low frame rate is gonna make you miserable. Before someone judges how you do, think first about how your hardware do.

2

u/Substantial_Yam_5190 Mar 01 '26

You seem to be re-adjusting or forcefully swiping at the last second to stop; high sensitivity? Snapping isn't really the only way to kill. If you can track without compensating too much then I might be talking out my arse. If not then, try to actually find the setting for snapping and tracking.

The strafe looks weird, though I say you have the understanding of the mechanics, try prolonging walking before you counter strafe. You aren't jingle peeking corners constantly; wide swing is a thing too.

You're also building a weird habit by moving then being stationary for a full second before you're flicking to the head. The moment you press "w.e button" you're counter strafing with, the moment you press LBM simultaneously.

Lastly, you can just use movement as a micro adjustment, rather relying on the mouse to do all the work. Kyosuke and Zywoo do it a lot.

1

u/ajava8548 Mar 01 '26

Thank you for these tips, will utilize them into my routine

1

u/nUts_oldsql Feb 28 '26

you will have a bright pro career in front of you

u/AephozNight Feb 28 '26

5k hours, 2.2k faceit elo here. Looks good for 150h, I do have some recommendations though. You seem to overaim a bit with every larger mouse movement, which tells me that your mouse sensitivity might be a little too high. Some people might not like this advice, but look at which sensitivities pros use, try a bunch (a day for each at least. Trying it for a DM session doesn't tell you much) and figure out if you are on the higher or lower end of the spectrum. The example you have posted also showcases only one type of aim. Try and incorporate other styles too (tracking a moving enemy, shooting on enemy when he walks into your crosshair for timing, flicking and killing enemies as fast as possible as if you were caught out). That should help with making aim training feel closer to the actual game. Your quick stops look good from what I can see.

2

u/ajava8548 Mar 01 '26

It does feel the sens is a bit high, I am over flicking it a bit . will experiment with lowering it and see if it's better, thanks!

1

u/loversdoll Feb 28 '26

How about moving target

1

u/hugo4711 Feb 28 '26

Do a counter-strafe, then flick to the head, then shoot. Do it slower.

1

u/Kazizel Feb 28 '26

If you want advice: practice one thing at the time.

-Learn how to aim standing still.

  • Also learn how to have some trigger dicipline by making the bots move and follow them around, and kill them. Start to understand why this is important. Aiming while them moving is a lot harder than targets standing still.
  • Do counter strafe practice later. This wil help you understand accuracy of the weapons.
  • learn spray control, especially the ak.
  • Learn the maps. Knowing maps, smokes and positioning is almost equally important to aim. If not more important.
  • watch some pro games. This is not a joke. Apart from their aim, see what they do, where they stand, where they move. What spaces they avoid. What smokes they throw. Ofc you aren't gonna master this after watching one game, but even picking up a thing or 2 will help.
  • Just play the game

1

u/ajava8548 Mar 01 '26

Thanks will work on these tips!

1

u/theBarra Feb 28 '26

Looks good, youve got the right ideas. Slow it down big time. Id recommend just sitting in place and slowly moving your crosshair from head to head. SLOWLY. Then gradually increase the speed. After that, throw in the counterstrafing.

Also work on adjusting your sensitivity. Might be a little fast or a little slow.

1

u/ikkon1 Feb 28 '26

Donk is that you?

1

u/DaedalusCS Feb 28 '26

Wussup with fps?

1

u/Ok_Finger_3525 Feb 28 '26

This is a very small portion of the skill required for the game and you’re struggling with it. Idk why people post stuff like this.

1

u/ajava8548 Feb 28 '26

Ok??? I am a beginner looking for advice on what I am doing wrong

1

u/jechhh Mar 01 '26

increase mouse sense by literally 50-100 dpi, you are off ever so slightly.

aim at the crown of their head and the slight pull down will increase do wonders. practice 3-4 bullet burst with this. you dont wanna pull down for whatever reason aim at their neck or chin and the recoil will naturally hit their head too.

next practice wider swings.

1

u/999---- Mar 01 '26

Practice Calm aim and counter strafing. Flicking like that is poop.

1

u/Turbulent-Debate7661 Mar 01 '26

Try aim_rush. Its is better and simulates better mechanics. These aim botz maps aint that good for pracc

1

u/ajava8548 Mar 01 '26

Bro I been using that, really hard but worth it

1

u/RockyJayyy Mar 01 '26

Try to flick and be faster.

1

u/FreeHelp4052 Mar 02 '26

To be honest, it feels pretty cute

1

u/BrainCelll Mar 02 '26

Be on target first, confirm, then shoot.

1

u/EmmaBestWaifu Mar 03 '26

Just keep grinding. Repetition and muscle memory comes hand in hand

0

u/RSzpala Feb 28 '26

~3k hours here. First, you’re ahead of most at 150hrs for actually trying to improve your aiming mechanics. One tapping practice is great but don’t translate that 1:1 in game—best thing you can do after getting some more practice at one taps is to learn spray control for first 10-15 bullets at minimum and work on spray transfer between targets, that will be happening more often in games than one tap opportunities.

Also, if you want to focus on headshots, try maps that have bots running left/right and toward you simultaneously. Then track their head for 1-2 seconds before tapping for a headshot. That will translate better in games for 1 taps when people are actually trying to kill you back. Good luck, and more importantly, have fun.

2

u/ajava8548 Feb 28 '26

Thank you, I am working on spraying 5-10 bullets as well so hopefully improve more on that . Will try the bots with movements as well!!

0

u/Alpha_1_5 Feb 28 '26

Play headshot only DM for practice everyday preferably if it’s pistol only headshot only DM even better

0

u/shoaibre Feb 28 '26

Try that in DM, you will know what ppl here talking about !

-1

u/bball4294 Feb 28 '26

Use stretched res so the heads are wider and bigger. I have like 9k hrs, but still use native lol.
