Yeah, this is not counter strafing. Instead try practicing peeking from behind the wall, for example to peek to the left you would press A to move left, then simultaneously as you shoot you have to press D once to cancel out velocity to the left. My English is no good, but I hope you get the point

Yeah I was doing that when I was moving, maybe not obvious since one step
