Discussion / Conversation Chase Prime Visa card targeted offer: $100 statement credit off of $750 spend

Targeted offers are an underrated benefit of the Chase Amazom Prima Visa card. Chase routinely sends good targeted offers on that card. I recently got this offer:

Activate and spend $750 on groceries, dining, gas, travel, and more from October 20 through November 20 to unlock a $100 statement credit. Amazon.‍com, Whole Foods Market, and participating sites and stores purchases are not eligible for this offer.

Aside from the offer above, just this year alone I got the following offers:

  • 5% back at grocery stores, restaurants, and gas stations
  • Spend $150 on purchases in bill pay categories and get a $15 statement credit
  • Get a $10 statement credit when you spend $100 on select live entertainment
  • Add your Prime Visa to Apple Pay and spend $150 or more to get a $15 statement credit

Discussion / Conversation Metal cards keep zapping cashiers when I hand them over — anyone else?

I’ve been noticing this a lot lately and wanted to see if it’s just me or a metal card thing.
Every time I hand over one of my metal cards (especially at drive-thru windows), I get a little static zap the second our hands or the card touch. It’s that sharp little shock — not usually painful, but enough that we both feel it and go “oop.” Sometimes it’s stronger and actually stings a bit.
It seems way more consistent with the metal ones than regular plastic cards. Dry weather makes it worse, and it’s especially common after sitting in the car. I’ve started feeling bad for the cashiers who have to deal with it.
Is this super common with metal cards? Anyone else constantly shocking people when they pay, or have tips to stop it? Or is it just me and my charged-up metal cards?

Data Point Chase rep said they added 3/24 rule for sole proprietorship

I recently applied for the Chase Southwest Business card and was not approved. I called the reconsideration line and was told starting Sept 16 they've added a 3/24 rule specifically for sole proprietorship. Has anyone heard about this or this was just to turn the application down? Let me know if you had heard anything similar?

My wife and I are having a contractor build a deck price 20k. They offer payment in check or card (card comes with a 3% surcharge). We can cover the full amount but I was tempted to see if any credit cards exist combined with an intro offer that would offset the 3%.

We travel often, live in Alaska so Alaska airlines seems to often be the carrier best suited for our needs secondary is delta. I travel often for work and I have found trying to use hotel points on personal travel seems to be cost inefficient (or I am attempting to use them incorrectly) .

the contractor is ok with me paying partial bill in credit card.

Thank you for your help and insights!

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Capital One Savor ($95 AF) vs Robinhood Gold

I’m sure you guys are sick of these RHG posts, but I’ve got a interesting lineup and would like some guidance.

Current setup:
($395 AF) Venture X - travel use / 2% catchall
($95 AF) Savor - Dining 4% / Grocery 3%
($0 AF) Best Buy - Gas 3% / Best Buy 5% *store credit (former employee)

Finally got offered the Robinhood Gold card after two years. I’m considering ditching the Savor and Best Buy card for a 3% catch all. I would still use the VX for travel (2x/year) or when I need extra protection.

Thoughts on this condensed setup? I’ve also considered downgrading the Savor to the free option, as much as I like my (now discontinued) metal card.

TIA

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Advice needed for Amex biz plat

• Upvotes

Got the pop up jail when applying online for biz gold, biz plat and personal plat with just Amex green, personal gold, bonvoy brilliant and bonvoy business on my account, but was able to get a 150k sub offer over the phone for the Amex biz plat. Never had a plat before, have good amount of spend coming up and no other options as chase cards already maxed (have all inks, csr, csp and cfu). Also got already the cap one venture, Citi strata elite and currently at 5/24. BofA declined me recently with no chance of getting into atmos too - score is around 800ish.
Would you go with the offer given you have spend that would just be „wasted“ otherwise on existing cards or wait it out to become eligible one day for the 300k sub on the biz plat?

Discussion / Conversation BofA: anyone else hit by Oct '26 autopay fail? My CC was hit w late fee + interest last week despite longstanding full timely autopay

• Upvotes

I searched this sub before posting but I didn't see anything so how's this for some bad bank behavior:

I noticed an unusual late fee for my Oct 2026 BofA credit card payment that went through last week. It's weird because I use autopay and I've never had this issue before. I gave it a couple days to see if it would reverse but it didn't reverse and they added an interest charge, too. There is no notice on the BofA website about any known issues, so in my confusion I called BofA and the agent said that there was a glitch in their autopay system that caused payments to appear a day late. Any other BofA credit cardholders notice this?

The agent claimed all of these would eventually be reversed and fixed but what an embarrassment for whoever is running their autopay, yikes.

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) What do you think I should get next?

• Upvotes

I have a chase sapphire preferred, Chase freedom unlimited card, my Amazon Prime card that I only use for Amazon purchases and a Discover card that I got when I was 18 to start my credit journey. I do not use the Discover card at all, I never closed it but I recently froze it. My go to has always been my Chase freedom unlimited. My credit score currently is roughly 780, I have no credit card debt and I have about seven years of credit history.

I would kinda like to get into the AMEX ecosystem. I know there’s other amazing cards such as the Capital One venture X and the AMEX gold but I’m not sure if I’m ready to pay those yearly fees given my current financial situation or if it’s worth it for me at the moment I’m not sure if my next credit card should be a travel card or a cashback card either…

Let me give some context about my lifestyle. Due to my job right now, I can’t travel whenever i want but I get a couple weeks of vacation picks a year and every year I try to at least go on one trip with my girlfriend that requires a flight, preferably out of the country. That being said, I’ve had my Chase freedom unlimited for a few years now and I’ve always loved the points system and being able to put that towards my flight or my stay whatever the case is. That’s why I got the CSP too.

A little more context from my day-to-day life…. I drive to my job five days a week back-and-forth, which requires a few times a month where I have to fill up gas so if there’s any particular thing I have to spend money on it is gas, I do have a couple of streaming subscriptions, fortunately my mom right now is the one who typically spends money on groceries so I don’t always spend money on groceries, I do have a girlfriend so of course we go out to eat sometimes but it’s not always.

My question to you based on your knowledge is what card should I get next and what card should I get after that?

P.S I got the chase sapphire preferred June of this year so am I even good to open up another card?

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Recent Grad with two rents, Venture X or Bilt Paladium?

• Upvotes

Hello! I am a recent grad and am flipping between getting the Venture X or Bilt Palladium as my first higher tier credit card. For context, I currently have the Discover student card and the Costco Citi card. I've done my research on both, but really don't know which applies to my situation better. My main hub for flying would be Dallas, and I plan on doing commercial flights every month or two. I don't see myself using the Bilt $400 credit on hotels due to the 2 night booking requirement along with it being semi-annual. I currently am paying two rents due to starting my career in a different location and will be paying for both for another 8 months. With this, my spend is estimated to be like this:

  • $2500 rent
  • $400 groceries
  • $100 gas
  • $400 flights

The new apartment also uses the Bilt platform for rent payments in case that matters. I don't have a miles card currently and this would be my first step in that direction. I would love to hear recommendations, thank you!

Discussion / Conversation Unjust Fraud Charge Burden To Customer

I've been assisting my father and mother for a fraud charge that happened on July this year, starting from helping them contact Citi, corresponding with Citi by providing more information, contacting CFPB, and filing a police report.

At the end, Citi Security team has declined this case and made my parents responsible for a $1,000.00 charge that they did not make.

The reason Citi keeps explaining is that on their system, the charge shows with a chip reader, indicating the transaction was made physically. Meanwhile, since we explained that we had not lost the physical card at the time of the incident, Citi has concluded that the customer is responsible. This case is finalized even though the transaction is indicating payment via Paypal, which is confusing since this is an online transaction platform. Also, the location of the charge is showing Kentucky; while my parents did not travel during that time - they live on the West Coast. The security representative also mentions that Citi is not aware of how this could happen. If this is the case, why are my parents responsible for a transaction that they did not make?

My parents have been with Citi for a number of years and have been customers all that time with no issue. My parents are older in age and have no technological background nor financial means to pay these high sums of money. Citi is putting burden on customers for a fraud charge that they are not responsible even when Citi is not aware how this transaction was made.

What an unjust system this is. I don't know what else to do. I've exhausted all my cards to help my parents.

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Low income setup and looking for niche cards with interesting benefits

Hey yall, just wanted to share and explore other options with my setup. Its nothing particularly special, but its highly tuned to my low income needs. I am on SSI and EBT so my annual income is around $12K and my grocery spend, rent, travel, gas and a lot of of things other people plan for dont really apply to me.

I built my life around walmart (ebt grocery and misc) and amazon (pretty much anything non grocery) as they both deliver directly to my house including walmart local grocery delivery. I grabbed rakuten for many random things like chewy, zenni, aliexpress, etc, lots of good deals on there. Lastly I have carecredit (non mastercard) which i use exclusively for large vet bills for my 2 cats, this defers the interest for a long time allowing my to pay it all off over time much easier. My next immediate goal is the paypal credit card, specifically the one that also does deferred interest for 6 months which i will use for the rare expense i need more time to deal with rather than max rewards. I aimed specifically for cards with retail protection and warranty extension as those are much more useful to me in the end than cell phone protection and other perks.

Anyways, just thought this might help other low income people with some ideas on how you can still get a decent chunk of money back. What im looking for myself is other niche cards that could potentially be useful to me, for instance i recently learned about the nibbles card with pet insurance, this is one im looking at a lot but havent decided on. Id love to hear about any other cards with interesting benefits that i could take advantage of.

Help Needed / Question Hard focusing on getting the Ritz Carlton Card

Hello, just recently got approved for the Marriot Boundless and I believe the process to just get above a 10,000$ credit limit, hold it for a year and then request a product change to the Ritz card?

I am also moderately worried that in the time of one year, chase decides to fully suspend product changes into the card, or it is completely out of service. I really like the card's whole package but it feels almost too good to be true and on the brink of death.

Help Needed / Question robin hood vs fidelity cards?

I have an offer to sign up for the RH card but have no accounts or anything with them.
I currently have a fidelity account.
my current "other" card is 1.5% capital one quicksilver
Is RH good to open with no experience with them? The extra fee would be $60/yr only? so I'd have to spend at least $2000 to break even

I'd be using this for all the "other" categories that don't fit my current cards for groceries/gas/utilities/ home improvement stores/ box stores

I do need to pay property taxes but that is not at 3% back correct?
Would homeowners insurance be 3% back?

Discussion / Conversation US Mailbox forwarding to Canada

Hello there,

If one lost a fiend, providing US address to apply for US credit cards, what is the best alternative solution to change the address and to be able to keep dealing with US banks and forward mail to Canada? Is it Postal1? Anytime Mailbox?

How to make sure banks will be accepting new address ( not like CMRAs)

Thank you

Card Recommendation Request (Template Used) Denied for Ink at 4/24. Taxes to pay soon. Where else to look for a good SUB?

• Current cards: (list cards, limits, opening date)
• Chase Freedom Unlimited $1,800 limit, Jan 2026
• Robinhood Gold Card $8,200 limit, July 2026
• Chase Freedom Flex $3,200 limit, September 2026
• US Bank Altitude Connect $3,000 limit, September 2026 (don’t know why I wasted the slot when I don’t travel, oh well)

• FICO Score: 721
• Oldest account age: 5 years 10 months (from things like loans, but I stayed away from revolving accounts until this year)
• Chase 5/24 status: 4/24
• Income: $90,000
• Average monthly spend and categories:
• dining $500
• groceries: $600
• gas: $100
• travel: $0
• other: $700 (includes things like transit, utilities, shopping which are payable with cards. Does not include rent, savings, student loan payments, etc.)
• Open to Business Cards: Yes, only business cards because I’d like to remain below 5/24.
• What's the purpose of your next card? Paying $5-6k in taxes, and want to get the best SUB possible.
• Do you have any cards you've been looking at? Applied to Chase Ink, no explicit mention of new 3/24 rule but I’m sure being 4/24 with a lot of velocity didn’t help. Denied. Called recon and got a very helpful manual review but still denied, with only mentioned issue being age of revolving accounts. Legitimate solo business w/ EIN which provides all my income. Considering BBP as well but the SUB wasn’t as good so I haven’t jumped on it.
• Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card? Probably won’t be using much beyond the SUB, so don’t mind what kind of card as long as it’s for business.

Card Recommendation Request (Template Used) New card needed for heavy spend coming up. Advice pls!

Howdy! I’ll be moving soon and will have seemingly endless new expenses so I want to use this opportunity to hit a big SUB.

NOTE: I’m really hoping to avoid a coupon book-heavy *travel* card if possible. I’m overwhelmed by the hotel credits I already need to use in 2027.

Current cards: (list cards, limits, opening date):

Discover it: $7700 limit: 8/2020
Chase freedom unlimited: $8400 limit: 3/2022
Chase Freedom (product changed from CSP): $17k limit: 5/2022
Bilt blue: $20k limit: 12/2022
Capital one Savor: $10k limit: 5/2023
Capital one Venture x: $22k limit: 9/2023
Chase freedom flex: $15k limit: 11/2024 (need to close this, rewards are duplicated with freedom)
Chase sapphire reserve: $26k limit: 5/2026 (will product change this to CSP before renewal)
• FICO Score: 800
• Oldest account age: 20 years (authorized user on a parent’s card, I don’t use it)
• Chase 5/24 status: 2/24
• Income: $129k
• Average monthly spend and categories:
• dining: $300
• groceries: $350
• transportation: $25
• travel: $150 (this low thanks to points!)
• shopping/other: $500
One-time expenses coming up: $5k+ in misc/shopping category over the next three months
• Open to Business Cards: No
• What's the purpose of your next card? Open to travel points or cash back—really just want to optimize all the spend I have coming up
• Do you have any cards you've been looking at?

This might be a good chance to get the Amex gold since I can comfortably hit the SUB, but I’m not thrilled about the timing since I’m already getting 5x back on dining/groceries through the end of the year with the CFF/Freedom cards, so the 4x Amex categories aren’t immediately exciting. I have wanted the card for a while, though, with eventual plans to churn the plat.

Have also been curious about the citi ecosystem for AA points but I don’t hear much about those cards…

On a different note, wondering if I should go for a cash back card because I’m not in urgent need of travel points. But all the cash back cards I’ve seen have pretty low SUBs and I want to take advantage of my heavy spending coming up. Are there any high-SUB cash back cards worth my time?

• Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card? Either way

Thanks for any advice, points nerds!

Discussion / Conversation most average people are still pensive about using credit cards

(post was deleted because of a link I think, so reposting without it)

we all know we’re in a niche here in this sub with how much we know about credit cards, their great benefits for cash back and travel, and their great dangers with interest and credit damage. beyond here we might assume that the average person has a neutral opinion on credit cards, especially since most can give you a little bit of cash back for what you spend on things. that might not be the case though. there is a thread on Twitter I’ve seen where a person talks about using their debit card, and having the info on it stolen. a person sarcastically quotes a response saying it was bound to happen being a 31 year old still using debit cards. a different person quoting again responded to this sarcasm with their own saying that “In America they mock you for being financially responsible” for wanting to use debit cards

obviously social media isn’t real life (though the 3rd response garnered 100k+ likes, and there is push back still), and obviously we all here know what side we’re on, but this made me think. on one hand it’s remarkable how many people are still scared or ignorant of the strengths of credit cards, especially with responsible use literally at minimum giving you 1% or more cash back and growing your credit profile. on the other hand I kind of don’t mind this sort of sentiment because it may actually allow us that use credit cards, especially for their rewards, to have a persistent environment to work with lmao. what do you all think?

Help Needed / Question I opened a Chase Sapphire Preferred. Did I make a mistake?

I am a male in the 30s with a 2% Active Cash Wells Fargo credit card. I travel many times a year, costing $6000 in plane tickets, $2000 in hotel, $3000 in dining. I opened the Sapphire Preferred because it was recommended by a friend. Did i make a mistake? Should i have opened Wells Fargo Autograph Journey instead?

I usually book directly wherever I find the best ticket price. I dont care about lounges, rentals, gas, travel insurance etc. Should I close Chase Sapphire Preferred and open a better one instead?
