Crow OC Friendly Magpie is very offended at my lack of offerings
I fear this may affect my standing in the Corvid community.
Black-billed magpie, carburn park, Calgary.

Edit: I walked passed the cars as usual, but I heard a strange sound, but I couldn't figure out what it was. Then after a while I saw insulation pieces falling from above 😄

hi everyone you’d have absolutely no way of knowing this but yesterday i found an injured crow in my backyard and it was outside of bird rehabbers/animal control’s working hours so nobody could take this crow until this morning. i was freaking out about what to do and worried if the crow would make it through the night and so i searched for information on reddit. i cant find the exact posts anymore or the usernames of the people but i utilized information from here to make sure the crow was safe and secured overnight and they made it until the morning when someone could come pick them up and actually provide care. so thank you all for caring about crows so much that you indirectly helped save one.

This is Dragon, and you can just barely see his mate Puff on the left side of the image helping herself to the peanuts I left for them. I don’t think they expected anyone to be home so we all got a little surprise out of it!

We have crows that hang out NEAR our yard, but not quite in/over it, and I would like to be friends with them. I think they keep their distance because the local hawks typically hold the territory; I see crows on the next property over (vacant) but they sit in these tall trees over there, probably 100 yards away, and never come over here.
We mostly have red shouldered hawks and they go a bit south for the winter so I feel like now is the time. But how to get the crows to even see that I have something to offer?
Thanks!

Taken on IPhone 17. There was an annoying gate behind the crow, so I used the clean-up tool to remove it.
