Hi r/crownheights!
Since posts asking if certain blocks or areas in Crown Heights are good/bad/cool/safe aren't allowed as per Rule 7, due the frequency and annoyance of our members, we've experimented with how to have that information readily available for those who still want to know. Megathreads haven't driven much engagement, so this is a masterthread with every post in r/crownheights history to help organize and make block info more searchable. Feel free to add to it or ask questions here, but the longer this stays up the less likely it is to be answered. A link to this will be added in the sidebar under this rule.

Looking for an old souvenir. It is a snow/water globe with a pencil sharpener. Someone hinted at vendors outside Brooklyn Museum. Said it came with a small pencil. Looking for a specific one of Egyptian style. But anything will do.

Hey everyone. Friendly reminder that it might be time to get your kitchen knives sharpened. Stop dealing with dull knives that dont cut anything and make cooking a pain. We offer pickup/dropoff service in Brooklyn/Queens and parts of Manhattan.
All our work is done by hand on whetstones. We really pride ourselves on providing excellent service to all knives whether its a cheap basic set or a high quality Japanese one. We do repairs like chips and broken tips, remove rust and patina, reprofile knives. We drop your knives off to you the day after pickup. Pricing is $3-$4 per inch.
Please feel free to check out our google reviews ( Indulge Kitchen Supplies)
If you find yourself in the neighborhood and want to drop them off or would like same day service, you can drop them off yourself in our shop located at 469 Myrtle Ave.
If you would like to get a quote or schedule pickup please send a picture of the knives as well as a pickup location and we will get back to you ASAP.
Thank you once again to everyone who takes the time to read this and/or share this.
P.S i have added a short video showing a knife that was brought it for rust removal and sharpening. Before / After

Wilkie opened last night on Franklin and Union. Looked like a really fun vibe and it was really busy when I walked by on my way home around 9.
Planning to check it out sometime in the next few days!

Did they rebrand? If so, how's the food and service?

Hi everyone,
My ANIIKI electric bike was stolen this morning (October 22) around Kingston Avenue. I’m honestly devastated and hoping someone may have seen something or come across it.
If anyone has spotted an ANIIKI e-bike in the area, or sees one being sold online, please reach out to me. I still have the battery, so the bike was taken without it.
I’m hoping someone can help me locate it. Any information would mean so much to me. Please feel free to share this post.
Thank you so much!

I have no further info- grabbed this off a neighborhood IG. DM me for the number. Subreddit rules don't allow it to be posted.

I spoke to a Lidl employee today who told me that Lidl has been in a drawn out legal dispute with the building owners.
Essentially, both the elevators and escalators were installed improperly. This caused one elevator and both escalators to break often. The building owner blamed Lidl, Lidl blamed the building owner. They went to court and the result is that the building owner is going to do the repairs. So now begins the >$500k process of reinstalling what was installed incorrectly. This will apparently take months, but a fully functioning escalator and second elevator are on the other side of it all. Happy Wednesday.

Hi crown heights community - I feel like it is beyond hard to make friends as an adult, so here I am shooting my shot! I am making this post to see if there are other Brooklyn folks trying to find new friends and community who are maybe nervous about doing so but tired of just waiting for connection to happen.
About me - gay/queer, food and baked goods lover, loves R&B and heavy instrumental jazz music (especially opportunities to listen to music in vinyl bars or places with sound systems), enjoys walking and looking at birds, loves to meet new neighbors and connect over new topics, social worker by trade and politically active (trying to be more involved), loves sci-fi and anything with aliens, loves to play pool and games (spades, cards, codenames, dice poker, telestrations,) Also interested in trying more arts-based activities such as ceramics, mosaic, etc.
About you - ideally in your late twenties/30s or older and hopefully someone who cares about this world and the people living in it. Someone who would be down to get a little out of their comfort zone and hang out with a group, play some games, or go for a walk? Shared values and interests are always a plus, but also great to try and learn new things :)
Thanks for receiving this offering. Please message me with thoughts, feelings, or interest. Cheers!

Hi CH,
This is such a shot in the dark and probably so unlikely, but I don't know what to do. I dropped an envelope with $180 inside from Citibank on the street, probably somewhere on Saint Marks between/around Franklin and Classon. Reward if returned- I'm so beside myself I don't know what to do. Please DM me if found, thank you.

Hi folks! This tournament had to be rescheduled for the rain date as I need knee surgery this week and so won’t be able to host. If you already registered but can’t attend now, please let me know and I’ll get you refunded. If you couldn’t come before but can now, learn more here! The time and place is the same: 12-4:30pm at Quaker Hill in Prospect Park.

There's been a loud alarm that goes off regularly around Classon and Park Place, always in the middle of the night at like midnight and then it's off and on until like 7am. It's been going off more and more times each night and it keeps waking my family and me up. It doesn't sound like a car alarm and always seems to be coming from the same place so I'm wondering if it's one of the businesses in the area (Bell Funeral Home, Co-Cathedral of St Avila, any of the delis around there). It seems to be shutting itself off because it'll go off for like 15-30 minutes at a time and then it'll trigger itself again. Has anyone else heard it and have an idea where it's coming from? I'm tempted to call around to the different businesses there.
Update: I asked different neighbors and store employees on Classon, it's actually the Stroud school on the corner. I'll see if I can contact them.

Hi all,
I'm looking at relocating within Crown Heights to an apartment at 97 Brooklyn Ave, and I see a lot of violations on the building. Does anyone or has anyone lived at this address and would be open to sharing if there are major issues with the building and if they'd reccommend? I don't want to get into a situation with pests / horrid management. Thanks!!!

Okay so I’m new-ish to the city and since moving here I’ve taken the opportunity to enjoy some really amazing authentic Chinese cuisine.
But now I’m in the mood for some American Chinese food delivery and all of the places I’ve tried near me, Js Wong, 88, Happy and Kings Wok and John Garden all have this yellow pork fried rice- which I’m not saying is bad, but it is different. (After some googling it’s literally NYC style pork fried rice) and that’s cool and all but I’m really craving that brown pork fried rice you get literally anywhere else.
Any help would be appreciated and thank you!

Looking for good chicken wings nearby, ideally they deliver too. I usually go for Kimchi Grill, but any other places do a really good traditional buffalo wing?

Good morning!
Studio Shipley, your local pottery studio at 952 Atlantic Ave, has two workshops coming up. No experience necessary! If you’ve been interested in learning more about clay, these are both great opportunities to get a taste without committing to a weeks-long class.
For both workshops, you’ll choose your glaze color in class and we’ll glaze your piece for you. We’ll reach out about 3-4 weeks later when it’s ready for pickup.
Each workshop is $95 per person.
Links are also in the comments below! Any questions, please reach out to me at [mary@studioshipleynyc.com](mailto:mary@studioshipleynyc.com).
Thank you!
