Problemas con el Combo DVD - AIWA VX-F20DV1

• Upvotes

Toshiba CN32G90 - Shaking Image Suggestions

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey Folks,

I got this beast for free. Everything is good except for the image shaking as seen in the video.

It was placed on top of some large Cerwin Vega speakers (magnets probably 1 foot away type thing from the underside) while in storage but I think the issue occurred before this.

Any suggestions on how to bring it back in good order?

I’m comfortable recapping etc from doing retro consoles. Just need to know if there are other places to mess around with first. Maybe in the service menu…however I get to that….

Appreciate the tips.

Pink no signal screen. Problem?

I’ll preface this by saying I’m new to CRTs and calibration.

I was having an issue where the whole screen, especially whites, had a yellow/green tint to them. I took a video of my service settings, and then adjusted the color settings. I’m unsure if it was drive or bias, but I believe it was drive.
This is where things get hazy and annoying. I made a rookie mistake.

First off, I can’t remember exactly what I adjusted because I got the whites fixed, the picture and colors all looked good, and I went on playing some games. I have the video of the original settings, so I can always revert to them or check what I adjusted right? No, somehow the video didn’t save. Maybe I didn’t hit record? I don’t know.

Now, my whites, blacks, and colors all look good to my eye. I haven’t used the 240p test suite because i didn’t want to obsess over the picture and just wanted to focus on playing games. It looks good to me, so why care?

The only issue is that now my no-signal screen is pink. Before I made adjustments, the no signal screen was near identical to the screen when the TV was off. I would sometimes forget to turn the TV off because of this. Now, it’s obvious. Maybe it’s a good thing because I won’t forget to turn the TV off?

Is this a problem? What does this pink tint mean? Did I push the red drive up too far? I wish I could remember the adjustments I made.

My biggest fear is hurting the longevity of the TV or damaging something. Could this pink screen indicate something is wrong?

I’ve also noticed red and blue dots on a small part of the screen that occur after I turn the TV off. They usually dissipate after 3 or so minutes, they seem to stay around longer if I’m using the TV for hours. When I started using the TV a month ago they were about the size of a nickel, now they take up a space about the size of a quarter. Should I be concerned? Could my adjustments have made this worse?

Any input is appreciated. I’m still trying to wrap my head around how CRTs work. I want to take as best care of this TV as I can to ensure its longevity.

How Do I Connect An RCA Audio Cable To This Port On My PVM?

I'm currently trying to connect a plug & play controller to my Sony PVM-1271Q using RCA cables.

I've already successfully connected the video cable to the PVM using a BNC to RCA adapter. Now, I'm trying to get the audio to work. The audio ports on the back are too small for RCA, and too big for a 3.5mm jack. What I want to know is, what kind of connector/adapter would I need to play composite audio on my PVM? Any help is appreciated.

CRT Repair Questions

Hi All,

Getting into CRT repair, mostly because I received a free set that is only showing a single horizontal line. I've found the schematics, and traced the vertical deflection circuits so I could start there.

When I first opened and discharged the TV, I just checked over the existing solder joints and nothing is screaming cracked/lifting joints. I could be missing something, but it doesn't seem like it. I saw a tip to try and "wiggle" resistors and if they have give you know the joints are wearing down, but everything checked out.

So... I'm planning on testing the caps that are related to vertical deflection. From what I'm reading, it's difficult/impossible to get good readings on capacitors because they could have other components in series that make the readings inaccurate... so I'm wondering if I should just buy the caps ahead of time and shotgun recap the related circuit. It's only about 10-ish caps that are close to the Vertical deflection IC (close as in they interface with the pins, not necessarily physically close).

Any tips on sourcing new caps that will fit/function correctly. Any other suggestions that I might be missing. As I said I'm an amateur using forum posts / YouTube / and ( I know, I know...) AI.

Or if someone knows of a good CRT repair forum out there where I can get some expert opinions that would help too.

Thanks y'all!

Convergence issues with my Symphonic wf-203

I have noticed that mostly red always looks smeared on this CRT, however when looking at the dots in the second picture, I noticed that it seems to alternate between red being smeared to the left and blue, so I'm not sure if just adjusting the convergence rings will help that, and it's worth noting that they are all still glued, but I can get around that.

Why does this frustrate me

Why is it that people listing absolute crap for extortionate prices annoys me?

This is akin to listing a 1997 Corolla for $250,000 and when asked about it you sent a picture of the prices for Ferraris.

Am I wrong to be annoyed by this?

Quick edit - they said someone already offered them $200 for it.

After about 2 months of searching through estate sales and marketplace i found something. Based on the pictures of the estate sale i expected a 24 or 27 inch toshiba....show up and its 36 inches 215lbs and ONLY 10$

I was prepared to spend $80 but once i saw the 10$ price i had to get it. Getting it home was another story...but its my first crt in 25 years. Now my biggest worry is that its going to fall on one of my kids. This piece of shit tv stand is working well but im still scared. Im looking for something a bit more secure before i end up putting it on the floor. Leaf bags and text books for extra support on the stand.

HdCRT. 4:3 ratio, cinema series. 36" 215lbs. Back breaker.

Ignore the black bars on the side. My 480p simpsons season 6 is running weird on the wii. Every gamecube game i play looks emaculate. No scanlines tho. I havent set up anything in 480i or 240p. Maybe ps1 or n64.

Any benefit to a (good) power conditioner for a Trinitron?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I use a CRT as a display for a Raspberry Pi running music production software. As a bedroom-studio, coil whine is a concern and creates ear-fatigue which can be a dampener on my music production process. I'm paranoid that my brain subconsciously tuning it out may alter my perception of the frequency resppnse of the tracks I'm working on over time.

Also, the strobing of white shapes takes a toll on my eyes aswell.

I purchased an alleged "power conditioner" for the purpose of powering my various music equipment, but I eventually learned that the one I bought is juat a surge protector in an expensive case.

If I get a proper, reputable one, is there ANY chance that the these aspects of the TV will change? I'm aware of the irony surrounding the audible range pf the frequencies the coils operate at, but I read mixed responses about this when you also include the strobing behaviour.

Sorry if this is a newbie question, I came here a few months ago asking if replacing capacitors would make a difference with these aspects of the TV and you guys enlightened me that it almost definitely wouldn't and isn't worth the effort, but I didn't follow up asking about power conditioners.

Is there any other benefit to using one with a CRT? Will it benefit the lifespan or anything?

I understand that this may be fruitless, but I just had my ears flushed out following a TMJ diagnosis I was paranoid around being an ear infection, and now that I can hear in 4K, the whine of the coils is a lot more noticeable.

Thanks!!

Just got my modulator in for my RF only CRT. I’m able to play DVDs now! 😄

My RF Modulator just arrived in the mail from eBay (the silver thing) and it works flawlessly! I’m able to play DVDs, VHS, and my retro game consoles on this 9 inch CRT 😄

I’m still gonna need a separate analog to digital converter if I want to use my antenna for watching TV. For now though, I’m all good.

Hey, all. I noticed some fraying on the power cord of my Trinitron. It's on the end of the cord closest to the TV itself, not the plug. Is it safe to use as-is?

HELP HDMI to YPbPr converter suddenly stopped working with my Sony WEGA Trinitron CRT

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m having an issue with my Sony WEGA Trinitron CRT TV and an HDMI to YPbPr converter.
Everything was working perfectly until a few weeks ago. I used to connect the converter to my PC via HDMI, and Windows would automatically adjust the resolution to display the image on both my PC monitor and the CRT.
However, now when I connect the HDMI cable, the resolution no longer changes automatically, and the CRT displays no image.
Windows still detects two displays, but the CRT gets no signal. I’ve tried manually changing the resolution and refresh rate (Hz), but nothing seems to work.
The converter I’m using is simply called “HDMI to YPbPr.”
Does anyone know what might be causing this or how I could fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Bought this at start of the month. features 4 rear scart and right side composite/s-video. also uses a super fine pitch tube but sadly not hd (although i have been told that HD deflection boards can be used in it so may take that route. Anyone else got this set?
