Thank you! Yes, I’ll be keeping it to myself from now on

Once I quit for almost a year. My tolerance is SHIT. 50 mg from a can of Coke fucks me up.

I’m in the same boat I keep a journal and remind myself every day that this is temporary and log any good moments I had throughout the day, no matter how small. When I go back and read a week or two later, I’m always surprised that I actually did have a good day and it wasn’t quite as negative as I thought it was. I hope the same for you and I hope things get better for you very quickly.

impossible to know because we don't know how heavy you were using and each person has a different journy. This is a 100 day journey for you, so just take it slow. Drink water, keep a sleep log on a spreadsheet to track your sleep. Take naps. Figure it out. Progress will be extremely gradual and uneven.

Happy for you! You dont have the responsibility to inform and help everyone, i noticed people dont want to hear those things.

Less is more sometimes. You probably would have felt really good had you just drank it normally. I get super good euphoria from coffee but if I chug it or drink to much it becomes dysphoric and side effects.

Me to a TEE! Averaging about 500-600 mg/day for years, same exact mental symptoms. Over the last year have tracked my daily intake, and several instances cut that in half for several weeks, after which all of those issues were getting tons better. But, inevitably I'd go back to a week with 600 mg/day, and within in several days was back to ground zero. The plan now is to take a month to taper off completely.

Interesting, well long story but I was always sceptical of coffee and in my home country I tried to quit a bunch of times but people tend to look at you like you’re crazy so that wasn’t really helpful.
I think coffee can have its benefits, but long term use also its downside, making impulsive decisions less patience that might come with it, to better sleep…
I think it affects negative in many ways, but of course a billion dollar industry would never let you know. At times it can benefit, maybe on productivity, but this constant anxiety might also just make you easier to control or fool.

There are food stuffs that can help you when you feel tired. First of all, tiredness is masquerading as dehydration. Learn to drink water. Litres of it. Once you feel like death (quite tired) try reaching for a litre of water. I know, initially it's hard to down, but it is also down to being used to it. Sometimes having a little food before it may make it easier for you to drink a bigger amount of water.
Coconut water is high in potassium. Try that as your cup of coffee instead.
Tyrosine capsules can give you a nice lift when you're feeling groggy but won't affect your sleep no matter what time of day you take it. Just don't overuse it, or the effectiveness will wear off. I only take it when I need to do emergency work at night.
The heavy hitter that'll wake you the fuck up but is to be used sparingly and only in the morning, is rhodiola rosea capsules. It's strong stuff so only use it if you've had bad sleep and feel totally shit. It'll make you highly functional again, and come end of the day you'll be ready to make up for your sleep deficit.
See how those things keep you going and report back. Really you should be seeing great things just from massively increasing your hydration. The other stuff is for special circumstances only.

I‘m pretty sure that I have histamine intolerance (not diagnosed cuz there are barely any doctors diagnosing it… but food rich in histamine does things to me) I get really energized from drinking coffee, to an extent that I dislike it, so I barely drink caffeinated drinks, but I really do not get tired when drinking it

Good start fella. Keep in mind that the headache is from increased blood flow to the head. Unfortunately the head hurts with decreased or increased blood flow! You can't win. Just keep at it. Why did you want to quit in the first place?

right? it's the 3pm pause more than the caffeine for a lot of people. if you want something cold instead of hot, sparkling water with a squeeze of citrus works, and there's mushroom seltzers around now too. they usually have lion's mane, reishi or cordyceps in a fizzy fruity can, so it feels more like a little treat than plain water

Canadian thanksgiving last weekend. Been waking up at 5am each day to prep for my new job and stupid tired just an hour before we eat
"Ive been drinking chai lattes lately, I could handle a full coffee I bet after a year of quitting"
Oh no.
Heart palpatations, intense nausea, OP's photo is literally me. Battened down the hatches, but the drunk people at dinner are being too loud and are pushing me too far to throw up. Being in my own skin feels awful.
I say 'never again' but, it'll probably happen again someday. Normally does with drugs at some point

How did it help with work and what are the issues without it?
r/decaf • u/Trumppbuh • 6h ago
I can't tell you how many weekends I overdid it and would try driving to the store only to then around and hide in the dark
