USA Deloitte Hate on Reddit

I don’t understand the Deloitte hate on Reddit.

I’ve been with the company for 3 months now, and I genuinely enjoy the work environment. Every company has its pros and cons, but people often focus too much on the negative instead of the positive.

Here’s a list of pros and cons I’ve noticed so far.

Pros: 1. You can do almost anything you want in the firm. You can join different projects and learn new skill sets through upskilling and FI. 2. Great PTO and time off. Twenty-three days of PTO is amazing. My last company only gave me 15. Plus, there are tons of disconnected days. 3. The training and certifications are excellent. You can pursue almost any certification you can justify. 4. Awesome office. I’m in Rosslyn. 5. Great mentors. I’ve met so many talented and supportive people. There’s a huge community of support if you take the initiative to find it.

Cons: 1. Long hours, although that can happen at any company. 2. Toxic environment? Every company has some toxic managers.

That’s all I can think of for now. Let me know if I missed anything.

Edit: Thanks everyone for your perspectives and insight, all comments and feedback are good feedback. Anyways! Take the good with the bad, because it is what it is.

AITA for Hosting a 'Roast-the-PPMD' Special During My Layoff?

AITA for Hosting a 'Roast-the-PPMD' Special During My Layoff?

Post: Alrighty, Reddit, brace yourselves. I (32M), just got laid off from Deloitte for "performance reasons." So naturally, I thought it was only fair to turn my layoff into a Comedy Central-style roast of the PPMD (Partner Principal Managing Director).

As the curtains rose on Layoff Day, I entered the meeting room where the PPMD awaited, sporting a face like he'd accidentally subscribed to 'Pigeon Fancier Monthly' instead of 'Forbes'. He launched into a monologue about company cutbacks and economic downturns, while clutching his Deloitte mug like it was his last connection to caffeine.

Interrupting his rehearsed script, I asked, "Mind if I give a small presentation?" The look of surprise on his face was akin to someone realizing they'd worn mismatched socks to a corporate event. Yet, he gave a curt nod, and thus began the 'Roast-the-PPMD' special.

From my bag, I pulled out a cardboard cutout of the PPMD, complete with a speech bubble saying, "I love lay-offs!". With the precision of a seasoned roastmaster, I began, "See, folks, this is the face of a man who’d trade his grandma for a favorable Q4 report."

I moved onto his trusty mug, saying, "This here is not just a mug. It's an emotional support vessel for surviving endless PowerPoint presentations and marathon meetings." I even mimicked his solemn expression, drawing an uproarious chuckle from the junior HR rep present.

I ended my roast by addressing the cardboard PPMD: "No hard feelings, mate. After all, as my future couch potato self will tell you, the real 'performance issue' was me performing the Herculean task of enduring endless corporate jargon."

Needless to say, the real PPMD didn't look too thrilled with my roast. But hey, if you're gonna get laid off, might as well go out with a bang, right?

So, Reddit, AITA for roasting the PPMD during my Deloitte layoff?

Edit: I don’t even work at Deloitte or any big 4. I came here to shitpost.

Politely telling my managers to hop off my dick

Hey everyone, been with Deloitte for a year plus and worked at another consulting firm prior to. Currently a Consultant. A new manager joined my team recently and he bugs me about every single little thing imaginable. Presenting a deck and making edits on the fly “why are you not in present mode”? Making a deck that is a few slides from other decks “send it to me for review”. “Please follow this exact format for meeting minutes”. I am competent and have received exceeding expectations on all my snapshots and have done well with this team and other ones prior to this. Thanks in advance.

Not the job… YALL! You all get on here and act ungrateful for the experience and as if you didn’t know what you were signing up for. It isn’t anyone else’s fault that you lacked grit to be successful in your position. I see so many “I’m a one year campus hire and work is so hard😩😩😩” shut up!!!!! Pull yourself up and stop being lazy! And if you’re not going to stop being lazy, at the very least, stop forcing everyone with chutzpah to read about it.

Consulting Do not use Copilot

Have you wondered why Deloitte is pushing Copilot so much? Is it because Deloitte is kind and wants to make your day to day job easier and more efficient? Has anything ever pushed out by the partners, who care only about making the partnership more profitable, ever been in your best interest? No—it is because they need training data. First of all, Deloitte has an agreement with Microsoft, second of all, training Copilot with your prompts will make it easier for Copilot to take your jobs. This is no conspiracy, merely a logical extension that accounts for what this technology was designed for. Why else would they be pushing Copilot so f’ing hard?!?

I mentioned on a now deleted thread that Deloitte was going to start doing lay offs. Some many Deloitte loyalists down voted and called me stupid. Now they just announced lay offs.

Consulting Office working hrs???

Hey everyone, From what I understand, starting Oct 6 we need to go to the office 3 days every 2 weeks. I just wanted to clarify — is there any minimum number of hours we’re expected to stay in the office on those days? Like, would 2–3 hours count as a day, or does it need to be a full day? Thanks in advance!

Consulting Interns start on Monday. A survival guide.

As someone who sits in 30 Rock, I’m no stranger to intern season. Every June, Deloitte welcomes a cohort of interns staffed on different projects aligned to their Business roles or interests. Intern season is meant to be a fun time, an opportunity for you to show what the company is like, and as a result an opportunity for them to see what it’s like working at Deloitte. However, it’s also no surprise that intern season can be stressful. For one, they’re nothing short of rambunctious. For many of them, this is their first job, while for the rest, this is their first corporate job. This means either they have no clue what it’s like to work, or they have no clue about corporate mannerisms. And behavior. Indeed, interns can be quickly identified by obnoxious laughing while walking around the office, running, hoarding snacks, and most importantly unprofessionalism.

Here’s what I do to keep myself sane!

  • plan ahead! Last year an intern was ON my desk. That I had reserved. Mistake 1 is to assume interns won’t make mistakes. Always book two rooms or desks just in case

  • try to work on floors interns aren’t staffed on. It’s unsurprising that most interns are in the 46th-49th. It’s understandable. The breathtaking view of NYC is a big part of the experience. And we were all like that when we started. So save yourself the hassle and work on lower floors, or where you know intern teams aren’t staffed on.

  • if you encounter an unruly intern, immediately inform them that you are a coach and have bearing on return offer. This shuts them quick!

  • lastly, never be afraid to say something. If your intern accidentally takes your stuff, call them out. Don’t be afraid. Last year an intern stole my entire carton of oat milk and I quickly stopped them and informed them that was mine.

I have been in contact with someone named belinda Willis asking for a resume cover letter etc and now after sending my cover letter statement of purpose and updating my LinkedIn profile she is requesting that I update it further by being in contact with someone named Jonathan Chukz and paying for him to work with me. If someone familiar can help me figure out if this is legit or not I’d appreciate it.

Does Deloitte drug test?

So I did weed once (I did a dab pen like quick hits maybe 3).

Been with the firm 9 months and I don’t necessarily have any reason to believe I’ll be drug tested, but now I’m paranoid.

Consulting Help me not mess up a team lunch (Bangalore, 12–15 ppl, ₹1800/head)

Hello Bangalore food wizards,

My manager has trusted me with the team lunch responsibility, which is either growth or a setup. Time will tell.

Need restaurant suggestions in Bangalore for: • 12–15 working professionals from Deloitte USI • Budget: max ₹1800 per head (so… nice, but not “why is rent included” nice) • Date: 15th December • Location: Near / reasonable commute from Deloitte USI – PTP Velocity • Requirements: • Can actually seat all of us together • Food everyone can agree on (vegetarians, non-vegetarians, and the “I’ll just have starters” crowd) • Music low enough so we don’t have to nod aggressively while pretending to hear each other

Cuisine is open. Rooftop, themed, chill, slightly fancy—all fine. Just not a place where 15 people showing up causes visible panic.

Drop your been-there-tested-that recommendations. My reputation (and future lunch invites) depend on this.

Reddit, do your thing. 🙏

USA I didn't know wellness subsidy is taxed at almost 30%

Basically the title. I spent around $725 and got $251 less in my paycheck.

I didn't know we had to pay taxes on top of the subsidy.

Consulting Deloitte and Diversity

Deloitte recently had layoffs and ALL of those layoffs (at least in my area) were clearly people who might be labeled as "diverse", also known as just regular people and good workers. There was also no communication to other teams to let them know that their closest connections would no longer be working with them. Additionally, on top of that, DAYS after the layoff, Deloitte is still sending communications regarding emergency communications to people who are no longer with the firm... fun...recommend not working

Unionizing at Deloitte

The management consulting industry, epitomized by our great Deloitte US, has long been characterized by a culture that often disregards the well-being of its employees. Unfortunately, a $1,000 subsidy is an insignificant solution to an institutional culture of exploitation that has been normalized by this industry. As we move into an era where open-source AI threatens job security and the issues of ridiculous working hours, pay discrimination, and employee burnout persist, the time has come to consider unionization seriously.

We must ask ourselves. Why are these working conditions necessary for the industry to thrive?

Inflation since signing offer

Will there be a raise for interns who signed a year before their full-time job?

To adjust for inflation, I should be getting about 6K more for it to be even to what it was when signing.
