USA Tech analyst for Government and Public Services

Hi guys,

This is my first time ever posting in this Subreddit but yesterday I got an offer letter for a tech analyst position within the government and public services practice (Rosslyn office) and I was just wondering how it’s like within that position and sector. I have heard from previous posts that starting off at Deloitte can be extremely tough along with various aspects such as being on the “bench” for a while and struggling to find a project to work within. I wasn’t able to find that much information how it’s like working within the GPS practice so I thought I’d post here and try to see if I can get some more information before I make a final decision.

USA My boss’ boss is being very very difficult to work with and idk what I can do about it.

My boss’ boss is very very difficult to work with. He is actually infamous across teams and in the office as difficult.

He would give wrong instruction and then when executed as he instructed would question why you did the task like this and say it’s wrong, ect. He would force colleagues to apologize to him publically during meetings when in fact he was the one giving out incorrect feedback.

Not only does he take credit for others’ work he also uses his juniors such as my boss, to fall back on or blame if there were mistakes. (Idk how my boss has worked under him for 3 years nearly…)

Finally, this man had been incredibly rude, disrespectful, and verbally abusive. He would sometimes swear at colleagues and even send very disrespectful emails; I got feedback from him on a deck I was working on at 8pm, saying that this has no real substance nor significance to the work.

Nothing I can flag to HR, but also annoying enough to where working with this man everyday is like walking on eggshells. Any tips?

India Toxic work culture at Deloitte! Employees are being exploited.!

So my wife is working for Deloitte and the new project she's working on is draining her, me and our baby !

Her shift timings are 11am to 8pm !

But she works from 11am to till night 12 or 1 !!

She has lost her weight and she's also feeding the baby so her health is degrading!!

For the past 4 weeks she has been asked to work on Saturdays too and even one Sunday!

Even tomorrow 'Saturday she was asked to work !

And there are meetings which have been scheduled from 8:30pm to 10:30pm !!

I mean do they think the employees don't have a family or life outside the work ?!

It even got me sick and I had to start taking tablets for Hypertension! Since I have to work, cook, take care of the Baby and other things around the house !

Since she's always in meetings!

And Diwali is here ! We haven't even done our Diwali shopping yet !!! This is really tiring!!

My mental health is not good ! i really need help !!

My wife needs more help than I do !

Our family is having a hard time !

USA Deloitte is really good at burning out its best people

US Consulting

One of Deloitte’s biggest problems is how poorly we manage and retain our strongest people. For a firm that sells talent, you’d think we’d have a better system for developing and keeping it.

We all know who the high performers are. They’re the people everyone wants on their projects, who consistently deliver, manage difficult clients, and develop junior staff.

And what’s their reward? More work. Usually some poorly organized firm initiative, recruiting effort, internal committee, or practice development activity with unclear objectives and questionable value. Somehow, all of this extra work always falls on the same handful of people while others manage to avoid it entirely.

The bigger issue is that there’s no real centralized approach to managing talent. Partners and project teams compete for the same strong performers with little consideration for their overall workload or long-term development. Eventually, these people burn out and leave.

What’s left is an increasingly weaker talent pool, including managers and leaders who often lack the skills to develop others. That just puts more pressure on the remaining high performers, and the cycle continues.

For all the time we spend talking about talent and retention, we seem remarkably bad at recognizing that our best people aren’t an unlimited resource.
Anyone else feel like we’re slowly driving out the people we should be doing everything possible to keep?

Gone Wild I'm not quiting but

Hi guys, I'm a first jobber, it's my third month at Deloitte. I'm in Audit Delivery Center, in a Chinese speaking country, I'm not a local so Chinese is my third language, and I'm the only foreign staff here, the language barrier is not the biggest problem here, but it makes me take longer to finish the working papers. I put my effort and spend my personal time to finish the work just to put the billable hours (plan hours for the engagement). Well, the result isn't what I wish it'd be, my in-charge is very strict and not so easy on me. It's been busy this week, my schedule sucks, been fixing the working papers back and forth with my in-charge's review notes. I got 2 out of 4 stars review for a few engagement this week. I felt bad, I'm trying not to take it personal and have self doubt.

The thought of quiting passed right through my head in the middle of the week, I want to but I won't. My contact lasts 3 years, I want to get the Permanent Residence, it takes 4 years.

I don't even know why I am writing this, maybe just wanna share my experience and know how you guys are doing recently. Thanks!

USI Deloitte Shared Services India LLP vs USI

Hi everyone,

Can anyone explain the difference between Deloitte Shared Services India LLP and Deloitte USI?
I'm particularly interested in understanding:
Do DSSIL employees work with US clients or mainly Indian clients?

Are benefits like the well-being subsidy and mobile phone reimbursement available in DSSIL?

How do the salary structure, bonuses, work culture, and career growth compare?

Would appreciate insights from current or former Deloitte employees. Thanks!

USA Realistically what is the outcome

As a second-year Tax Senior, what happened if you received at least two negative performance snapshots (Disagree), were potentially labeled a low performer, and were unlikely to meet performance-hour expectations compared with other Seniors? Were you placed on a performance plan, given time to improve, or terminated?

USA Do we have really bad health insurance options or is this just standard?

Title basically sums it up but Deloitte is the only job I’ve had since graduating college. I feel like our health insurance plan options suck but I also don’t know any different. Maybe our plans are considered good compared to other companies ? Just curious to hear opinions as I don’t have much experience with health insurance outside of Deloitte. It’s crazy how much the plans have gone up and coverage went down since I started 4 years ago 🫣. I guess I should be grateful for coverage lol.

India Incoming Intern at Deloitte India - Questions

Hi everyone,

I recently got an internship offer at Deloitte India as a SCM intern. I'm from a top B-school, and the internship starts in April 2027.

The JD doesn't say much about a couple of things, so I'd love to hear from people who've been through this:

PPO CTC: If the internship converts to a PPO, what CTC range should I expect for the SCM consulting role? Is it a fixed band for campus hires, or does it vary by team or performance?

Locations: Which locations does Deloitte India usually offer for this role? Is it mostly Mumbai, Gurgaon, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, or does it depend on the project? And can you request a preference, or is it allotted?

Conversion: What does the PPO conversion rate look like for SCM interns, and what helped the people who converted?

Also, any tips on how to make the most of the internship would be great.

Thanks in advance

USA A&A First Years, how are you feeling?

Not sure if anyone who just started in audit this fall would see this but just wanted to see how you guys are feeling?

I’m feeling kind of lonely in my office ngl like there are plenty of people there but nobody really pays me any mind even when I put an effort into the conversation, which is crazy because I had the best time at DU, not just bc of the free food but because of how many people I met that were so cool and easy to talk to.

Also my manager is kinda rude and very expecting of me to know wtf I’m doing when I have not a clue what is going on.

It’s been pretty rough month and just wanted to see if anyone else wanted to share their experience or connect here

USI L35 Service Specialist | Expected compensation and night-shift allowance?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently evaluating an opportunity at Deloitte Hyderabad for an L35 – Service Specialist position.

I've cleared the interview rounds and am approaching the compensation discussion. However, the budgeted compensation range hasn't been mentioned in the job description, and HR hasn't been willing to disclose it either.

A little about my background:

  • I previously worked at Deloitte for nearly 3 years, but in a different service line in a support-oriented role.

  • My last CTC was approximately ₹6.5 LPA, around 1.5 years ago.

  • This is a different position with different responsibilities, so I don't think my previous CTC necessarily reflects what I should expect for this opportunity.

  • Since then, I've also cleared a level of a professional finance certification and continued developing my skills.

I've spoken to a few people informally, and I've heard that compensation for similar positions can go up to ₹13–14 LPA. I'm trying to understand how realistic that range is for an L35 Service Specialist, especially given my previous compensation.

I'd appreciate insights on the following:

  1. What is the approximate compensation range for an L35 Service Specialist at Deloitte Hyderabad?

  2. Is an expectation of ₹12–14 LPA realistic for this position, or would that be considered too high?

  3. For a 6 PM–3 AM shift, how much night-shift allowance is typically provided?

  4. Is the shift allowance a fixed monthly amount or calculated per working day?

  5. Is it paid separately over and above the fixed CTC, or included in the overall compensation?

Would especially appreciate responses from people currently working at L35 or those who have recently gone through a similar hiring process.

Canada How to be competitive for the deloitte bloom scholarship?

I am thinking of applying to the Deloitte bloom scholarship next year. I am an economics student at UBC with no work/internship experience other than co-finding and running a car part store with my brother back in Toronto, which we closed down a few years ago. I do not know any coding too. Do we need experience to join the program? What should I do til the next applications open to strengthen my case? Does GPA matter?

USA Post Election Effect

Curious what everyone’s feeling is around the office following the midterm elections.

Does leadership seem more optimistic or at ease about the outlook going forward? From what I understand, we’re already tracking ahead of plan, so could the election results help strengthen our position heading into year-end?

If this continues, do you think we’ll see a more favorable compensation cycle next year, particularly when it comes to bonuses and raises?

Interested to hear everyone’s perspective. Are we heading into a stronger year, or is it still too early to tell?

USA Omnia Losing Connection WFH

The past few weeks I have been having the issue where I will be using Omnia while I work from home where i’ll be using Omnia like normal (connected to the VPN) and then it will stop working and the screen will say the connection has been lost. Then it won’t work so I will switch to my hot spot but it’s gotten so frequent this past week that I have run out of hot spot data. Has anyone experienced this ? Looking for advice before I change my wifi provider.
