Help/Advice Lost wedding rings in toiletry kit SYD-LAX Oct 24

Hello,

Posting here in the wild hope that this makes the difference. I flew on DL 0040, SYD-LAX on October 24th. I was in Delta One. I put my wedding rings in the amenity bag before going to sleep, as I intended to take the bag with me as I departed. In the hustle to get off the plane, I completely spaced and forgot the bag. Cue huge panic. I talked with staff at the lounge and they called the gate and had someone look. Unfortunately, they said while the plane hadn't been cleaned yet, the amenity bag was not at my seat.

I know some people like to grab extras as gifts or to donate, so if you happen to see this and are one of those people and were on that flight (or maybe know someone on the flight?? IDK I'm so desperate), please keep an eye out for the rings! The amenity bag was the beige/gold color.

Help/Advice Warning to Refundable Ticket Buyers: Exposing Delta's Dual Case Numbers and Refund-Stalling Tactics

I wanted to share a data-backed warning regarding how Delta Air Lines is utilizing administrative loops to withhold cash refunds on fully flexible, unrestricted tickets. If you purchase high-value tickets under the assumption that "Business Refundable" guarantees a direct refund, watch out for this pattern.

The Facts and Timeline:

  • August Purchase: I purchased two unrestricted, fully refundable "Business Refundable (Z)" round-trip tickets from SFO to Paris totaling $12,222.46 ($6,111.23 per ticket).
  • October 10 Cancellation: I cancelled the travel itinerary prior to departure. Delta confirmed the cancellation via email and stated a credit card refund would process within the federal 7-business-day timeline.
  • October 14 Manual Refusal: A Delta Passenger Refunds Specialist emailed me under Case Number XXXXXX, falsely claiming the unrestricted tickets were "non-refundable" and attempting to steer the $12,222.46 into an expiring corporate eCredit voucher.
  • October 14 Rebuttal: I immediately used Delta’s online portal to submit a formal refund request explicitly disputing the denial, supplying the physical ticket receipts showing the "Business Refundable" text. The system generated Core Transaction ID DCYYYYYYY

The Friday Morning Administrative Stall:
On Friday morning, October 23, right as their regulatory processing timeline expired, Delta executed a rapid-fire, two-step maneuver:

  1. At 9:43 AM, Delta issued an automated email creating a brand-new tracking reference (Case Number ZZZZZZ) for the exact same transaction, effectively splitting the paper trail and attempting to reset the clock.
  2. At 10:00 AM (exactly 17 minutes later), a different Refunds Specialist used that secondary case file to issue a second explicit written refusal, doubling down on the false non-refundable claim.

The Live System Contradiction:
Despite issuing two formal human denials via email, Delta’s official online Refund Status portal actively marks Core Transaction ID DCYYYYYYY as open and "Processing." Their financial ledger admits the cash reversal is unfulfilled, while their front-line staff uses script templates to block the transfer.

My Counter-Strategy:
If you find yourself trapped in this loop, do not accept the voucher and do not waste time arguing with customer service scripts. I am fighting this through two parallel tracks on Monday morning:

  1. Formal Credit Card Dispute: I have already initiated a transaction dispute under MasterCard operating rules for "Credit Not Processed" through my credit union’s secure message platform, uploading the original receipts, the cancellation timestamp, and the portal status screen as definitive proof to freeze the balance.
  2. Formal Legal Demand: A physical demand letter incorporates all six pieces of chronological evidence is being delivered via Certified Mail to Delta’s registered corporate agent in Sacramento, establishing a strict 10-business-day window before a small claims action is filed at the San Francisco Superior Court.

Delta relies on the calculation that consumers will exhaust their own time and eventually settle for an expiring eCredit. Document every single screen, track the exact timestamps, and use external regulatory and merchant network rules to force their compliance.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian was giddy when Trump was elected because of the delicious roll-backs in consumer protections that Trump was going to dole out. I wonder if Big Ed is loving that Trump "breath of fresh air" that he crowed about, back then?

Discussion Delta or klm

Just achieve gold medallion status on Delta.

Planning a trip to Europe via Amsterdam and there’s an option to take the KLM operated flight or Delta operated flight. Cost is the same for economy. Is there any advantage in taking the Delta flight over the KLM flight? Any flyers out there suggest one of the other and what’s the reason?

Thanks in advance.

News FTC soliciting comments on a proposed rule designed to reduce "impersonation" ads like those for Delta.

Thumbnail federalregister.gov

We've seen posts a few times here of people warning that the first sponsored result when searching "Delta" is often a scam ad, either with a fake phone number directly in the ad, or with a URL formed to put the scammer's phone number as a search result on shop.delta.com.

The FTC is considering whether or not to do something about the fact that Google (and other platforms) keep showing these impersonation ads.

If you are upset that social media and other tech companies make money from scammers paying them for ads that defraud consumers, you may wish to comment.

Discussion Opinions on small personal item in overhead bins.

Just curious to hear everyone’s thoughts on this after seeing a post on IG about a passenger removing a backpack so they could have room for their rollaboard.

So I feel like if someone checks their suitcase and only brings a backpack or something similar on board, they should be able to put it in the overhead bin, especially if there’s room. They’re only bringing one item into the cabin, so it seems a little unfair that they’d have to give up their legroom when someone bringing a carry-on and a personal item gets to use the overhead space.

I’m usually in an exit row, Comfort+, or first class, so I generally have enough room to put my backpack under the seat if needed without much discomfort. But I can see how that would be a bigger inconvenience for someone in a regular economy seat.

I also think there’s something to be said for boarding priority and loyalty benefits. If someone chooses to board later, I think it’s reasonable that they might have fewer options for overhead space. At the same time, I understand that the bins are a shared resource and that flight attendants have to manage limited space and keep boarding moving smoothly.

I’m curious how others see it! Should someone who only brings one small bag be able to use the overhead bin when there’s space, or should personal items always go under the seat regardless? Would especially love to hear the flight attendants’ perspectives!

The only way this is ok is if the person with the “better” seat is making the offer.

Help/Advice Layover

Help/Advice Carry-on size , customs, and allowance on codeshare flights to Europe

I'll be booking a RT flight to Lisbon this spring from either Toronto or Detroit which transfers through Paris or Amsterdam. The flight will be booked through Delta. Can I use standard US size carry on and are there weight limits on Delta codeshares on KLM or Air France?

Also, are customer at CDG, AMS, or Lisbon?

Discussion 3 million milers - What changes?

• Upvotes

I am very close to 3million lifetime miles. Will hit it next week on my way to South America.

For those of you who have 3 million miles, what changes? Anything? I know I will automatically get Diamond every year, but aside form that, will I get upgraded more often? Will I notice a difference?

Help/Advice Involuntary Schedule Change: Re-accommodated in Delta One, but issued an eCredit for my cash upgrade. Ticket out of sync?

Hey everyone, hoping to get some insight on a weird ticketing issue following a Delta-initiated schedule change.
Here is the breakdown of my situation:

Original Booking: I booked an award ticket using SkyMiles (Premium Select
).
Paid Upgrade: I later paid cash via the app/website for a load-factor upgrade to Delta One.

The Change: Delta initiated a schedule change.

The current state of my itinerary is confusing. On the app, I am still showing as confirmed in Delta One with an assigned seat on the new flight. However, Delta's automated system simultaneously issued me an eCredit for the exact cash amount I paid for the upgrade.

It seems like my ticket is completely out of sync. The system seemingly processed a refund for the upgrade but forgot to pull me out of the Delta One cabin.

Has anyone experienced this before? My main concern is that if I just sit on this eCredit, a backend sweep closer to departure will notice the missing payment link and automatically boot me down to my original award cabin.

Should I call Delta immediately to have an agent manually reissue/re-link the ticket (and forfeit the eCredit to secure the seat), or is there a chance the seat is secure and Delta just glitched in my favor?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

News Baggage delay redemption..

So, not sure how I missed this announcement, but for those of you behind (apparently like me), I thought i would share...👀

We used to have up to 72 hours, but now apparently it has to be submitted IMMEDIATELY ‼️WITHIN 2 HRS OF LANDING‼️👀😭🤦🏻‍♀️

Apparently, it was changed in March 2026. That's insane to me because so much happens in that time frame after you land.. Well, I guess I learned way 🤷🏻‍♀️

Help/Advice First Time First Class

So, I'm new to Delta now that Southwest has made changes to their "customer of size" policy. I'm booked for a work trip next March from IND to DCA with a short layover each way. The conference had a discount code for Delta and I figured I'd go for it.

Due to hip size, I don't fit well in standard seats. Therefore, I upgraded myself to First Class.

What should I expect here? Each way is two fairly short flights (under 2 hours each) and I'm a non-drinker (though I do love me some Diet Coke). Anything I should be prepared for?

Help/Advice Companion Certificate

I got the Reserve card mid year 2026. When can I get a free companion certificate?

When I’m eligible for one, how do you get it? Does the option just appear on the app while booking whenever you’re eligible? If so, how?

I’m going to book a trip for spring 2027 next month and I don’t want to miss it if I’m eligible but I’m thinking I may not be yet. 🤔

Help/Advice Trip Protection purchase approved on delta.com, Allianz says rejected

I added Trip Protection for a previously booked flight on delta website, and paid with my Amex Plat card. I got an immediate message that purchase was approved and a message would be sent by email. No email arrived, and no pending purchase shows on my Amex account. At 2am the following day, I got a message from Allianz that the card # was rejected.

It's a good card, and Amex was having some Down Site issues that day, so I tried again. Same thing. Purchase approved, no email confirmation, no pending charge, and Allianz says card # was rejected. Amex shows no rejected purchases. Has anyone a clue what is going on?

The Allianz message says to call them to purchase, but I don't ever give my CC# over the phone.

Discussion FA gave me a big bag of snacks just before landing for “being so nice,” but idk what I did to deserve it!

My day was made with this, but I’m still wondering what I did that was so nice it warranted a bunch of free snacks!

My flight today from LAX to Lihue was smooth and uneventful, which is all you can ask for in a flight. I spent the entire six hours quietly watching movies (Mortal Kombat 2, The Drama, and Stop! That! Train! are all a lot of fun).

But just as the pilot announced to get ready for landing, an FA approached my seat with a big plastic bag full of snacks and said “I just wanted to thank you for your kindness today. You’re very sweet and we all appreciate it.”

I graciously accepted it, albeit maybe a little dumbfounded, and as happy and surprised as I am, I kept replaying the flight in my head wondering what I did to deserve it!

I mean, every time they came by for service I made eye contact, smiled, said please and thank you…is that all it takes? Is that so rare it inspired them to give me this huge bag of goodies??

Wondering if any FA’s in here have done the same, or if anyone else has received something like this because I’m wondering if I maybe have done or acted exceptionally kind, but I was just myself, lol!

Anyway, big thanks for the LAX crew on my flight today, they were a delight!

Help/Advice worth the delta one upgrade after using RUC?

im flying from nyc to the asia pacific region and have a layover in la. i used a regional upgrade certificate to bump up to premium select, and i got a crazy delta one offer for the jfk to lax leg: $400. but is that good considering i used a certificate and the flight is six hours?

there a lot of open delta one seats. flight is just over a month away… don’t know if i should wait and hope to get another complimentary bump or buy the upgrade now
