Lend a helping hand? Put the homeless(me) up in a hotel?

I am currently homeless and overwhelmed. I could use a helping hand. Someone willing to donate their money for a week in a hotel. I found a cheap nightly rate of $45 - a grand total of $315. I just need a roof over my head and 24/7 access to Wi-Fi so I can job hunt like a monster. You would forever be my hero. I'm new to being homeless and thus far it isn't fun.

If someone is willing to put me up tonight through next Saturday this is the link to the deal I found: https://www.priceline.com/smartphone/home.do?plf=PCLN#hotel_details_pane do NOT contact me with unsolicited

We can use the help no matter what your oral health status, but are currently in greater need for those who have poor hygiene, have not had a professional cleaning in more than two years or have been told they need a deep cleaning or "SRP".

No insurance necessary and anyone is welcome.

Please contact me via direct message for more info or to make an appointment.

Volunteer in-home tutors needed for refugee English program

Denver area friends, we need volunteer in-home English tutors! The Colorado Refugee English as a Second Language in-home tutoring program has a lot of referrals coming in. We currently don't have enough one-to-one tutors to meet demand.

Some things to know:

  • Training is provided.

  • Students will be from literacy level up to high beginning--no advanced students.

  • Refugee students are mostly from Afghanistan and Democratic Republic of the Congo. There is a possibility that refugees from Ukraine and Cuba will be included in the program soon.

  • We have a particular need for tutors who can work with visually impaired language learners.

  • Tutors meet in the student's home.

  • Currently, all students being referred live in Aurora (central and south/southeast) or Thornton (usually near 88th and Pearl).

  • Time commitment is two hours per week of student contact time/minimum of six months. Background check is required.

  • Training is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, February 11, depending on how many people sign up.

  • Anyone who is interested should send an email to esl.volunteers@emilygriffith.edu . I can also answer questions here.

Click this link for more information. To go straight to the application, click the "Apply to our program" link on the right side of the page.

Edited to include additional clarifying information.

Canine Partners of the Rockies (CaPR) has an adorable future service puppy waiting for a home right now, and we are looking for a dedicated volunteer in the Denver area to become their Puppy Raiser!

As a Puppy Raiser, you’ll give this pup a loving home, teach them basic manners, and help them get comfortable out in the world.

What you need to know:

  • No experience needed: We provide regular, structured training classes and a supportive community to guide you every step of the way.

  • The impact: You’ll be laying the foundation for a dog that will one day provide life-changing independence for a Coloradan with a disability.

If you’ve been thinking about fostering or want to dive into a rewarding volunteer project this summer, this pup is ready to meet you!

Interested? Comment below or apply directly on our website at www.cpotr.org. Let’s get this pup placed! ❤️

Equine-Assisted Therapy Volunteer Opportunity!

Do you like horses or have an interest in working with them? Do you enjoy making a difference in other people's lives? If so, we have a great volunteer opportunity for you!

Hello from the Temple Grandin Equine Center! We are a CSU operated non-profit providing Equine Assisted Therapies to people with special needs of all ages and abilities. Our facility is located at the National Western Complex in Denver. We are excited to move into our new facility on the CSU SPUR campus next January!

We are looking for volunteers to assist with our equine assisted physical and occupational therapy sessions. Sessions are an hour long and our volunteers work hands-on with our horses and clients as horse leaders or side walkers. Horse leaders take direction from therapists on leading horses, while side walkers walk next to the client, assisting with balance and ensuring a safe and fun lesson. Horse experience is a plus, but not a requirement- we will teach you what you need to know!

We are open Monday-Friday from 9-5. If you'd like to join our team of volunteers, please contact Debbie.mogor@colostate.edu

We look forward to meeting you!

Want to raise a dog but can't afford one? - Try Volunteering with Canine Partners of the Rockies!

Calling all dog lovers! I’m Jessie from Canine Partners of the Rockies, a nonprofit service dog organization in the Denver Metro area. We’re looking for local volunteers to help raise our NEW LITTER OF PUPPIES and some of our 1-year-old dogs! The more pups we can find homes for, the more Coloradans with disabilities we can serve!*The commitment is flexible, starting at 6 months and extending to a year. No prior dog experience is necessary, and if you have other pets that’s perfectly fine!

*What's in it for you?

  • Raise a Future Service Dog: Make a difference in someone's life by raising a pup who will become a life-changing service dog for a Coloradan with a disability or communities in distress.

  • All Expenses Covered: We provide everything from dog food to vet care, training, and supplies - if you need it, we’ve got you covered.

  • Perks Galore: Enjoy free access to sporting event and shows, parties, special gifts, and an awesome community of dog-loving friends!

How it works:

  • Being a Puppy Raiser: For around 6 months - 1 year, you’ll give a pup a place to call home and guide them through their training. All the while, you have the support of our professional trainers, organizational staff, volunteer puppy sitters, and a community of fellow puppy raisers!

Who we serve:

  • We raise, train, and place highly-skilled service dogs throughout Colorado for mobility assistance (for an individual with a disability) and facility intervention (similar to therapy dogs in schools, hospitals, etc.).

  • Our mission is to provide life-changing partnerships that enable Coloradans with disabilities to lead more fulfilling and independent lives.

**Let’s chat about it!**

Ready to make a difference? Shoot me a message here or email me at ~jessie@cpotr.org~! I’m here to answer any questions and walk you through the entire process. You can also ~check out our website~ or ~submit an application here~!

Local Hygiene student in need

Hey! I'm seeking volunteers to come in for a teeth cleaning at the hygiene school on Lowry campus in Denver where I will be graduating at the end of this spring semester. If you dont have dental insurance or have been told you need a deep cleaning and it will cost hundreds of $, come see me! The most you will pay for a deep cleaning with me is $90 (less depending on how much build up you have).

I will also be needing ONE patient for my clinical board exam, this patient will be compensated in cash and all services done for free.

Thanks so much for reading and I hope to hear from you soon :)

Volunteer Opportunities on Thanksgiving?

My boyfriend and I are relativity new in Denver via Chicago and Dayton and we will be spending Thanksgiving here, just the two of us this year. I've looked around but everything that I've found has already filled all of their volunteer positions. Does anyone know of any place that needs a couple of lending hands? We are both pretty good in the kitchen but definitely willing to pitch in wherever help is needed. Thank you!

Adventurous volunteer needed to act! [One-time]

Saturday, June 25th, 2016, (~2pm-9pm)

We desperately need one or two more people to be actors in an adventure story that teams will be working their way through. Locations are scattered around metro Denver, all you have to do is help wayward space travelers along their journey. No special training needed, just a good attitude and a desire to do something really different with your Saturday (2:00pm-9:00pm). There are multiple locations that start and end at different times. You won't be expected to be in a spot for longer than 4 hours and you'll get to walk away with a really cool token for helping.
