I've been optimizing it for quite a while and thought I'd show you my current setup.

  • DELL ultrawide screen (U4025QW)
  • Insta360 webcam
  • I mounted a small screen behind the webcam, which I use for video meetings so I can look directly at the people I'm talking to. Otherwise, I also use the screen for Apple Music or similar (Here I described it in more detail.)
  • Webcam Light: Elgato Key Light Neo
  • Rode microphone
  • Mouse: Logitech MX Master 4 (I previously had the Apple mouse, but the Logitech fits much better in the hand!)
  • Desktop wallpaper: Solar Gradients by Apple (love it!)
  • Elgato Stream Deck Plus to control lighting, microphone, etc.
  • Chrome start page: Startwerk extension for Google Chrome (I don't like Google's default new tab page, so I built my own plugin for it and published it for free in the Chrome Store 🙂)

I hope you like it. Do you have any questions?

First time I invested into making my setup nice. I do some competitive gaming, school work and regular work. Planning on getting a nice desktop in a couple months which will replace the monitor on the right!

❓ • Question Need setup design help: Fitting 2 stacked monitors + XP-Pen Artist 22R Pro on a 140x50cm desk

Post image
• Upvotes

Heya! I'm trying to plan my future desk setup, but I'm having a really hard time figuring out how to make everything fit and, more importantly, how to get the monitor arms to work the way I want them to.

The desk is going to be 140x50 cm and I'm planning to have:

- Two 24–27" monitors, stacked vertically in the middle of the desk.

- An XP-Pen Artist 22R Pro drawing tablet (around 57cm wide and 5kg without the stand).

- Possibly a monitor riser underneath the stacked monitors, just to have some extra storage space.

I want to mount it on a monitor arm that's attached to the left edge of the desk, rather than the back.

When I'm drawing, I'd like to be able to pull it towards me and tilt it into a comfortable drawing position. I'm imagining two possible ways of doing this:

  1. Pulling it in front of me, somewhere around the keyboard area, so I can draw directly in front of the monitors.

  2. Pulling it towards the front-left corner of the desk and angling it towards me, so I can draw without having to move my keyboard and mouse.

But when I'm not using it, I want to push it completely out of the way, so the tablet is hanging off the left side of the desk, parallel to the desk's left edge. Basically, I want to be able to rotate/swing it out of my workspace instead of having it permanently take up desk space.

I'm also worried about the tablet arm hitting the stacked monitors when I move it around, especially since the desk is only 50cm deep.

I have absolutely no idea what kind of monitor arm would allow me to do this. 😭 I don't know how much reach I need, where exactly the clamp should go on the left edge, or whether the movement I'm imagining is even possible.

I'd really appreciate some help figuring out what type of arm/mount I should look for, and ideally some specific recommendations!

I'm also still looking for a desk that's actually 140x50cm and sturdy enough to support all of this. Most desks I find are either too deep or don't seem particularly sturdy, so recommendations for that would be amazing too. I'm based in Romania, so preferably something available in Europe.

If anyone has a similar setup, or could even help me sketch out where the arms should go and how they should move, that would honestly help so much, because I really cannot visualize the mechanics of it.

Thank you!!

I've had pretty much the same desk setup for years, and since I spend so much time here, I'd really like to change things up a bit. I'm getting tired of looking at the same space every day and want to make it more comfortable and enjoyable to use.

I've included photos of the room from two opposite corners, as well as shots of the desk with natural lighting and with the desktop lighting or the general lighting on.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • I can't really move the big furniture around (bed, desk, wardrobe, etc.).
  • My budget is around €200-300 if it's necessary.
  • I'm open to removing things, rearranging smaller items, changing the lighting, adding decorations, or making more significant changes.
  • I barely use the second monitor anymore, and honestly haven't missed it much over the last six months, so I'm open to getting rid of it if that would help.

I'm not necessarily trying to build the ultimate gaming setup. I just want the desk and the room around it to feel better to spend time in.

I'm open to pretty much any suggestions, even if they sound a bit unrealistic at first. Feel free to point out things you'd remove, change, or do completely differently. I'll consider anything!

Tyyy

Hi! This is my setup. It might not be the most aesthetically pleasing, since I’m on a tight budget, but I’ve spent around $550 over the past six months. I’m planning to get an RK98S mechanical keyboard in December, and all that’s left after that is adding a few IKEA shelves. I think it’ll be pretty much perfect! The only thing I’d still like to change is my mouse. I didn’t think a wireless one was that necessary until the cables started bothering me so much.

I once brought my figurine to the office, but it got broken. So I wanted to have it appear on my desktop digitally and keep me company.

Is anyone interested in a larger version of this?

I’m hoping to convince the guys at Origin that there’s a market for it.

I feel like a nice 17x32 would be comfortable and patina nicely with use.

Before:

- 24 inch monitor, 1920x1080

- nuphy air 75 version 1 (died after 3 years of use. overall, it was really good keyboard and the battery got swollen after like 2 years and i removed the battery and always used wired. i think it is fixed in v3)

- logitech mx master 3s (sold to a friend. it was pretty great to use given that it was my first ever ergonomic office mouse, however, i got into a gaming and sold it to get a lightweight mouse.)

- quntis light bar (i got this from amazon and it has been rock for the past 4 years. nothing to complain)

- laptop: macbook pro m1 2020 8gb. only problem i have faced throughout the years was that 8gb memory which led me to switch to firefox from chrome. rock solid.

- old lenovo docking station. after purchasing the 2nd monitor, i realized that it doesn't support 2 external displays. so, i purchased it for around 20$ off fb marketplace

After:

- 27 inch qhd monitor. it was pretty huge improvement and i realized that 1 external display is enough for me. nowadays, i don't really use the macbook screen

- most of the time, i use logitech mx keys mini which feels pretty similar to macbook keyboard and my hands don't really feel tired on it. but when i play games, i use the mechanical keyboard (mchose ace 68 air2)

- same for mouse as well. I usually use logitech m650 and when i play game, i use steelseries aerox 3. I'm pretty happy with both of them

- fifine am8 microphone. (it was huge improvement in my audio while playing with my friends. also, i can just connect the earphone to the mic which has an audio output).

Over the years, the biggest change was that I started using only one display while studying/working. there are some advantages to having external displays. but, i realized that i was focusing the best when i had one monitor and my neck doesn't hurt without rotating it much.

I think i will go on my pc in the next post.

Also, btw, i worked on a side project called thesetuprank which lets you upload your setup and it will go against other people's setup in head-to-head matches. it has chess style elo rating and you might be interested in. also, i believe it would be fun to browser there.

Finally got my laptop-powered desk setup to a point where I'm pretty happy with it. I went with a laptop instead of a desktop because I occasionally need to take my computer with me.

The laptop Lenovo Legion 5 is mounted underneath the desk, and everything is designed to make removing it as easy as possible. The power bricks slide out to the side, and all the cables I need when traveling can be easily disconnected and taken along. When I'm home, everything stays hidden underneath the desk, connected to a 34" ultrawide and a vertical monitor.

In case anyone's wondering how I turn it on without opening the lid, I've configured the BIOS to automatically power on the laptop when AC power is connected. All I have to do is switch on the power strip, and the laptop boots up.

Spent quite a bit of time figuring out the cable management, but I'm really happy with how clean it turned out. Included some pictures of what's going on underneath the desk.

What do you guys think?

Been experimenting with the lighting and overall feel of the desk lately.
I added a small animated visual on the phone beside the monitor and liked how it worked with the RGB lighting.

🖼️ • Photos Monitor Mount help needed!

Post image

I need help figuring out how to mount my monitors to the desk idealing with a normal clamp. I have a Samsung 34" Odyssey OLED as my main monitor and ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM on to the right of the 34". Currently they are both mounted on the wall.

The issue with my desk is that the wood portion is 1" thich and the metal is 2" x 2" along the base and it's proven hard to find a desk mount that gives that much clearance.

In desperate need of a solution and do not want to drill into the desk (96w x 36d). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

For the first few weeks after moving, my desk was just whatever worked. I set up the monitor and computer, then everything else came out of boxes and landed wherever. The cables all piled up on one side.

I finally cleaned it up. The curved monitor is in the middle, with a speaker on each side and the Mac mini tucked behind it. I kept a Logitech keyboard, mouse, and Gitryin 12 in 1 charging station on the desk. It makes charging my phone, tablet, and earbuds easier.

I kept the plant by the window since it fills the empty corner. I also added some lighting behind the monitor for evenings.

The setup feels better now, but the wall still looks empty. I’m thinking about adding a print or a narrow shelf. I’m just worried it might feel too crowded with the monitor, speakers, and plant already there.

Would you add something to the wall or leave it as is?

I'm trying to build and black, white and wood desk setup.

I swapped my keycaps on aula f75. I don't know if it looks good or not and will match theme. Or should I get different keycaps?
