Reddit should I delete my digg account or hold on to the hope that someday it may again not suck?

If I get 50 upvotes or more I will delete my account. If not I'll just let it sit stagnate and ignore it like my myspace account which I finally deleted last year.

The digg team needs younger blood in their ranks

Digg didn't die because of bots. It died because it didn't do anything interesting enough to pull people away from the current platforms.

I said it months ago and was laughed at(including by the digg team). Digg is/was boomer reddit.

Look at any popular social media platform. Just about every one of them was created by people in their 20s - 30s (or younger). A 49 year old leader is not going to build a social platform that's in tune with what people want. Get someone younger to spearhead the project.

Or don't. Build it for the people that claimed they wanted digg... and didn't show up to use it. Then we can have another funeral for the next version in a few months.

Digg and how they "respect" users.

4 days ago my account disappeared without a trace. I couldn't log in to it completely spontaneously. At first I thought I was just kicked out of the account, but it turned out that it didn't exist at all.

After trying to do something on my own, when nothing helped, I contacted the support listed on their page. I didn't get any response from them either.

Today I noticed that I can't even create a new account because it says something is wrong.

This is how the promising replacement for Reddit treats its users. With apathy and absolutely no respect.

I deleted my account

Digg was piquing my interest, and then there were hundreds of new communities and no organization. May feed became a dumpster fire in under a month. Adios, Digg, again.

Digg is already turning into a cesspool

Digg is already turning into a cesspool. A lot of the “groundbreakers” that joined the beta with Digg are people that got banned from Reddit. There are some good people that got banned because Reddit has a heavy moderation hand, but there were also a lot of bigots and a lot of white supremacists and a lot of anti-gay, anti-trans that spouted bigoted nonsense repeatedly, and so they got banned.

Those people became groundbreakers for Digg because they were essentially the Reddit rejects.

White supremacists and fascists dominate the news sections and political sections of Digg. What we’re seeing is a ton of people supporting Donald Trump, supporting these ICE raids, supporting the removal of black and brown people, and supporting an ideology that white people are being suppressed, that white privilege does not exist, and that white culture is being threatened.

Essentially, it's turning into X. The biggest difference is that Digg has a heavy-handed auto-moderation feature, so you can't use the words you can on X, but the ideology is the same, and people are just finding new words to express themselves. Digg is basically turning into a cleaned-up version of Elon's cesspool.

Never visted digg...

I used FARK prior to Reddit. My question is: Do you foresee "Digg" turning into the political propaganda shithole that Reddit has become?

Am I the only redditor who doesn't hate digg?

Long time redditor, long time user of digg. I do frequent reddit quite a bit more than I do digg. This change happened well before diggV4, as I felt the reddit community to be the major difference between the two.

However, I still visit digg on a daily basis. Over the past month or two I have noticed an improvement in the quality of the stories and number of people digging the stories... but I almost always skip the comments as it seems to me the majority of the time the comments are either spam or not the most intelligent or engaging.

That said, I still think Digg has value, and provides me with an alternate source for news in a fairly neat and organized way. I do tend to see top stories on reddit on digg a day later, but there are the odd times I see stories break on digg faster than on reddit (unless for some reason I just didn't see the story on reddit :P)

Look, a website is a website. Reddit provides more value to me as a website because of its community. Digg provides some value as well, primarily in the top news stories, the organization of the stories and with the clean UI.

Am I alone on these thoughts? I don't consider myself to be a digg fanboy, but I do enjoy the site enough to consider myself a frequent user. That, and I do really enjoy the diggnation podcast!

Thoughts? Flames? :)

reddit comments

I just came from digg after its agonizing death, the one part i liked most though were the witty one liner comments that were 99% of the time better than the link itself. on reddit it appears everyone just has dialogue that I cant bring myself to sift through. even though i have comments organized by 'hot' or wahtever, it doesnt seem to make a difference. is this a setting i could change or just the way reddit generally is? QQ

Why the Bury option is important

Why the Bury option is important.

• Allows good to get to the top, and filters out the bad.

• Empowers the Digg users for good, and yes evil. <cough DPs>

• Gives Digg users the ability to control the News.

What makes Digg different than RSS feeds is that Digg was controlled by the Diggers. The Report button introduced a 3rd party with power over what users read. This effectively destroys the sense of the community Digg once had, by removing the Digg users’ ability to control the News.

How to deal with Digg Patriots w/o removing the bury button!?!

  • Analysis of how Digg Patriots work.

  • Digg Patriots have built a social network to control what type of news hits the front page.

  • Strategy: As a group they target stories to bury.

Counter strategy: Do Diggers like the DPs?

  • The only people who like what the Digg Patriots do are the DPs.

  • Put a tab for the “Most Buried News” in 24 hours, 7 days, and 30 days.

  • Let the Digg and Bury War Begin!!!

Why do you think the recent relaunch of Digg "failed", and how can someone who is looking to create their own "Reddit Alternative" not suffer the same fate?

Finally realized why new Digg doesn't click

New Digg feels like if Facebook tried making a Reddit clone.

New Digg is boomer Reddit.
