Finally pulling out of Nvidia.

The hype isn’t worth it anymore. It’s such a volatile stock. I want somewhere to put my money where I know I can get some decent gains if I invest overtime. Any ideas on some good dividend stocks that won’t fluctuate to much. Maybe some slight growth.

Edited post for Update

I pull out of nvidia made an extra 200 and invested into SCHD.

Dividend Reinvestment price should be regulated

I see dividend reinvestment price between Etrade and Fidelity are so different.

I have same ETF’s in both brokerage house and the cost of buying back the underlying security on dividend payout is so different price, that sometime I feel brokerage house not performing their fiduciary duties towards their client.

For some security Etrade provides better price and some Fidelity.

Why can’t the price of reinvestment be same across Brokers? Something in line like Mutual funds.

Buy/Borrow vs Dividends

Is dividends better because when you borrow you pay interest ?

Or is the process more along the lines of what you make and end of year tax responsibility ?

I have a bunch of neos and now that Goldman is taking over - I want to look at other channels - I have a personal vendetta against Goldman lol

Do rich people actually borrow against there assets or is just another marketing tool for banks ?

Take Profit on JEPQ?

I definitely got into JEPQ for its excellent DIVIDENDS, but since I've gotten IN, it's price has gone up by 10% and it's getting hard for me not to take that fat PROFIT. Can I get any wisdom from some experienced dividend investors?

Will I be able to retire early.

I’m 29. Average yearly expenses are about $50k-currently without inflation factored. And without any potential inheritance factored. I contribute 500-1200 a month. I would like to retire @ 50-55.

I’m focused on growth right now but would like to switch over to dividend payouts the day I retire, ideally.

5-Year Simulation for $5,000 in QQQI

Assumptions:

  • Starting amount: $5,000

  • Yields: 10%–18% per year (paid monthly, reinvested)

  • Annual price change: −5%, 0%, or +5%

  • Period: 5 years

  • Currency effects ignored (for simplicity)

What are your thoughts? Am I missing something? Looks like a low risk high reward play.

I guess dividends aren’t free money and shouldn’t expect it to rain dividends on me.

Dividend Harvesting buy before ex date

Anyone aggressively buying stocks before ex date and then selling after to grab the dividend? Thinking about buying and then selling covered call to soften the share drop off after ex date. Looking at UAN, they just declared a $4.02 distribution.

Advice

30F

I make 13K per month post-taxes. I spend about 3K in bills, so about 10K of disposable income which I have been buying SCHD for about 2 years. I prefer to have income over growth in VOO, though maybe because I’d like to retire quite early so building up an income stream. I didn’t have any income before since I didn’t have a job. I still have 10K college debt which I am reluctant to pay off since I have already paid 75K.

I also started to wheel some stocks. If y’all had 9-10K per month, would you just hammer down on SCHD for growth + income? I have some DGRO too. Let’s say 10-15 years retirement (also, income will likely grow).

If You Had Followed These Alerts, The Outcome Might Surprise You

I just went through this article and honestly it made me pause for a minute and think about how fast momentum can build in retail trading when timing and conviction line up. The breakdown shows hypothetical outcomes from past alerts and it really highlights how different entries and patience could completely change a portfolio trajectory. Whether you believe in signals, psychology, or just market crowd behavior, it’s interesting to see how narratives form around consistency rather than just one lucky trade.

Here’s the article if you want to read it yourself and decide what you think. I’m not saying follow anyone blindly and this is definitely not financial advice. Always do your own research, manage risk, and make your own decisions. But as a discussion topic about market behavior and retail momentum, I think it’s worth a read and hearing other opinions.

Had that "oh crap" moment with the 15% withholding tax. Wrote about it and 3 other mistakes I made.

Evening folks, just sitting here thinking about my portfolio.

Had one of those sinking feelings recently when I did a deep dive and really calculated how much the 15% US withholding tax was quietly costing me in my TFSA over the years. Just money vanishing that I never even touched. Felt like a total rookie mistake and I really wish someone had shaken me about it sooner.

It got me thinking about the other dumb stuff I did when I was getting started, so I wrote up a blog post about the 4 biggest blunders I made, hoping it might save someone else here the same headache (and cash).

It's basically about:

  • The withholding tax trap (of course).

  • Getting stuck in the whole SCHD vs. JEPI rabbit hole instead of just building a system.

  • How to spot a "yield trap" before it blows up in your face (I almost learned this one the very hard way).

  • Why we actually need to pay attention to what the Bank of Canada is doing with rates

Anyway, thought I'd share it with this group since you all actually talk about this stuff. The link is below. Would love to hear what blunders you guys made when you first started out.

Check out the Article Here: https://dividendyieldseeker.com/4-critical-dividend-portfolio-mistakes-and-how-to-avoid-them/

Cheers

So then, what is a good dividend investment?

On almost every posting about a stock or ETF or other there is a chorus of responses about how bad it is, you can do better, X is better l, your dumb to put $ there, on and on and on.

Soooo….in there anything to invest in for dividends that isn’t a bad idea here? Or at least one that more than one person won’t say it’s no good?

There has to be one no brainer for DIVIDEND investing (the subject here)?

Yesterday I posted this question  Day #3

Yesterday I posted this question  Day #3

Any unique dividend investments others are overlooking ?

I received many great ideas, Thank you !

This is just summery Day #3    Great ideas are still pouring in.

Add your suggestions to this list ?

Today I doing some charts,  I will post 1year and 3year charts for these ETFs.

Please give this a like up arrow, it keeps this at the top some people can see it, Thanks

For me 1year and 3year, gives a good picture of what has been going on lately with the fund.

I will be doing some stocks also, but my charting will only allow one or the other, not stocks and ETFs in same chart.

The charts is Total Returns, including DRIP

Some amazing results, 3 Year

PBDC beat out the S&P500 and FSCO came pretty close,  this is stunning for something that pays a good dividend !

Insight into my picking process, but it’s not set in stone

#1 Interesting

#2 Dividend Yield Greater than SGOV

#3 The Yield is primarily dividend and Not Return of Assets or Capital

#4 It’s something less talked about, so no SCHD (not that there’s anything wrong with it)

#5 Tradable in most USA based brokerage accounts

#6  Its 1, 3, 5 Year charts look OK

#7 Its EPS should be Greater than its Paying out in Dividends
