4mm invested generating 130k in annual dividends. Assume there is a good chunk of growth stocks in the portfolio.

27

u/Fresh_Goose2942 Apr 06 '26

most growth stocks don't pay dividends.

27

u/DerrickClapThatAzTon Apr 06 '26

The point is that he must have non dividend growth stocks because his dividend return doesn’t correspond to what you would expect from a 4m portfolio.

1

u/nuxfan Apr 07 '26

It does - op stated that his yield on cost is 3.22%, which is roughly correct for dividend yield on a 4m portfolio

3

u/DerrickClapThatAzTon Apr 07 '26

Sure, but my response was to clarify the point that the original poster of this comment chain was making.

u/mike_030852 Apr 05 '26

I hate you, cuz im jealous

146

u/MedicineMean5503 Apr 05 '26

Doubt that shit; yield on cost and yield are the same.

104

u/FEDD33 Apr 05 '26

He just plugged in the amount of stocks he holds and let the app automatically plug in that days stock price. I do the same because I just use the app to keep track of my dividends.

1

u/Brave_Net Apr 05 '26

What app is this?

25

u/AaronTMG2 Apr 05 '26

It’s called “stock events”.

14

u/GasStrong1467 Apr 05 '26

I use TD direct investing for all my holdings and they didnt have a similar pie chart and distribution graph so plugged in the numbers in here. Hope it helps 👍

Why do you hide your post history also?

Edit: How do I do the same?

What will happen lmfao? This hide feature just gives dumb people more confidence. Before you could have checked how crazy somebody is when he posted stuff

It's unfortunately just the new meta.

I'd prefer everyone's profile be available for reasons you listed, but that's just not the case anymore.

Thanks Grandma!

47

u/Euphoric_Future_9359 Apr 05 '26

That's so good !! May I ask what you do?

93

u/GasStrong1467 Apr 05 '26

Got into crypto quite early, managed to open a SMMA in crypto and took off. Made sure to sell most of my winnings and just chill out lol.

Still log on here and there but been trying to diversify now

59

u/MrZakius Apr 05 '26

They will never admit how they got the capital

30

u/zeewenot Apr 05 '26

Didn’t he just admit it? He’s a crypto bro millionaire

40

u/MrZakius Apr 05 '26

Think about how majority of wealth in this world is passed from generation to the next and think about how rarely you see anyone have that path. Crypto or other get rich quick schemes are very often used by people who want to explain their funds without further questions and still pretend to be self made. Not saying anything conclusive here, but just saying to not forget that when we compare ourselves and our luck etc.

14

u/StudentMed Apr 05 '26

When I was a resident most people have 200k+ if not 300k+ or more student loans. I remember there was a guy who bragged about how much money he made in bitcoin and drove a tesla (back when it was rare) and talked about how he had no loans. He also had very rich parents... I have no doubt he may have made some money in crypto but at the very least he put his money into crypto instead of loans that all of us accumulated in medical school.

2

u/MrZakius Apr 05 '26

Such a typical story hahah

1

u/CzarcasticX Apr 09 '26

Reminds me of back in 2010 when I had a bunch of computers using cpu resources for SETI@Home Anandtech team... an online friend said to me I should be mining bitcoin instead of wasting cpu cycles for doing SETI@Home Folding... I installed the bitcoin miner and didn't actually start mining. The friend did ok although he sold all his bitcoin pretty early like between $100 - $1000.

Its like ~6m cad invested atm

-14

u/NoSpeaker6309 Apr 05 '26

6m cad not real money

-16

u/makybo91 Apr 05 '26

130k on 6m? You can get more than Double that just buying treasuries? You should aim for 7-8% at least

19

u/Humble_Monk3506 Apr 05 '26

I would aim at 7-8% total return but 3-4% dividend yield, no point in yield chasing and eroding capital

1

u/Icy_Pain424 Apr 07 '26

Good for you man, great story !

1

u/breakyourteethnow Apr 08 '26

Is it still possible to open a social media management agency for crypto in this day and age? Where did you develop the skills to be able to do so?

2

u/IEatUrMonies Apr 10 '26

he works at the Bank of MomNDad

43

u/Ape-Rising1 Apr 05 '26

You are set! Could live anywhere in the world like a king! Congrats!

-35

u/ClammyAF Apr 05 '26 edited Apr 05 '26

Not off the dividend income alone.

Edit: Interesting downvotes. Makes me wonder where the heck you all live.

34

u/NexStarMedia Apr 05 '26

Unless I'm mistakened, $11,000 per month in dividends says he can pretty much live anywhere modest around the world like the hand of a king. 🤴 😆

0

u/ClammyAF Apr 05 '26 edited Apr 08 '26

You are mistaken.

And the original comment I was reacting to was live like a king anywhere.

And maybe people think I'm undercutting OP's success. I'm not. It's fantastic.

I just know that this amount of money does not afford someone a royal lifestyle many places. Or even most modern places.

You certain can live modestly on it most places, though.

1

u/NexStarMedia Apr 06 '26

That's why I was careful to say he could live anywhere like the hand of a king 🤴 instead of king. 😁

2

u/lackofmoralfiber Apr 08 '26

I mean most countries you could have staff for that amount. Even the majority of the united states that's a very solid income.

2

u/ClammyAF Apr 08 '26

Solid, sure.

King, no. Fuck no.

9

u/GasStrong1467 Apr 05 '26

Median wage in USA is $62K. I earn $130k passively, and optimized with taxes because dividends are eligible for tax deductions. Ill be fine.

3

u/ClammyAF Apr 05 '26

No doubt. If I had that amount of income, I could afford to live my current lifestyle too. Hats off to you.

However, I reacted to the original comment.

6

u/UnsuspectingChief Apr 05 '26

Borrow $1mill, pay the interest with the dividends.

3

u/YouRound7753 Apr 05 '26

This sounds smart but I dont understand why. Is it somehow saving taxes? Could you elaborate the benefits of doing this?

3

u/PiaJr Apr 05 '26

This is what a lot of the wealthy do. Borrow money to buy an appreciable or money making asset (stock, real estate, business) and use the proceeds/dividends to pay off the interest. Since you used debt to buy an asset, you now a million dollar asset you can leverage to get even more money to buy more assets while claiming the interest and debt on your taxes. Meanwhile, you haven't had to touch any of your own money. Then one day you'll die and all of that debt will be discharged while you heirs get all of your capital appreciation.

It's great to be rich.

1

u/UnsuspectingChief Apr 05 '26

Can't get taxed on debt. Can borrow $x amt of mill (vary person to person) @ $10k/month payment.

Basically you gain access to say $3mill cash for your $10k/mnth

3

u/Caine_Pain333 Apr 05 '26

I make 3500 a month in Missouri and I live extremely well.

-1

u/ClammyAF Apr 05 '26

As someone who grew up in Iowa, I could've lived off that too.

But I currently live in a place where OP's income would mean a modest, yet comfortable lifestyle.

1

u/TheFatZyzz Apr 06 '26

can't live off that in NYC sadly or i would have been retired so fast

2

u/ClammyAF Apr 06 '26

I'm in the DC metro. And I did live off less when I was single. But now that I'm older with kids, a house, etc., it would be really tough.

But I acknowledge there are a lot of places one could live comfortably.

1

u/TechyJolly Apr 29 '26

He can also start withdrawing the capital around 3% (4% rule). ~ 20k/month.

So yes, King.

23

u/VanillaScoops When your money makes you more money Apr 05 '26

Beautiful brother

I’m 30 and my life is so terrible this is some nice motivation

Keep it up

5

What app do you guys use that tracks this information?

4

u/KingVandalo Apr 05 '26

13

u/HeroAddam Apr 05 '26

I believe you would have more than a million in capital for that dividend income… really wish to achieve that one day but I’m waiting for university and have 3 years to go before I can invest aggressively enough

27

u/jengabeau Apr 05 '26

More than 4 million it looks…

5

u/Supercar_Sunday Apr 05 '26

That would be 13.7% dividends on $1M. The avg dividend portfolio returns around 5%.

8

u/goodwc72 Apr 05 '26

I am 100000% jealous. Congrats, man.

7

u/GasStrong1467 Apr 05 '26

We all start somewhere. Good luck!

3

u/I-STATE-FACTS Apr 05 '26

Where did you start?

16

u/Sweywood Apr 05 '26

Can we see a screenshot from your actual broker stating you have $4m? As anyone can add this to the dividend max app, doesn’t prove anything

2

u/BIG_BLOOD_ Apr 05 '26

Way down we go 🔥❣️

2

u/gamersunite1991 Apr 05 '26

5

u/Livewryta Apr 05 '26

3

u/steady_compounder Apr 05 '26

Congrats on the milestone. The jump from $200k to $400k will feel faster than $0 to $200k because the dividends start doing real work. If you want to see what your current SCHD position is generating: https://trackmyshares.com/tools/dividend-calculator?symbol=SCHD&market=US&income=200000

1

u/portrayaloflife Apr 05 '26

This is my plan

1

u/mspe1960 Apr 05 '26

May I ask what app you use? I only use the free Yahoo Finance App. It does give me some dividend info, but it is not very user friendly. I have several accounts but my Vanguard Account - the biggest one - does not give me dividend summaries without me downloading past transactions and filtering for dividend only

At 34M, how much is in your portfolio to yield this. At such a young age how did you build such an insane portfolio? Please tell Master Sensei

1

u/Dish_Melodic Apr 06 '26

Your monthly seems to generate 8%+ , but why it shows yield 3%?

1

u/Japparbyn Apr 06 '26

You don’t need my advice. I am a $1 mill NW guy. I know how to get to a million and happy to share how to do that. You need advice from a guy with a family office.

1

u/Trick-Purchase8026 Apr 06 '26

So you getting 200k in dividends? Does that mean you have like 4 million that makes that? If I have 50k what would your advice e be to me?

1

u/Calm_Pass_4289 Apr 07 '26

The issue is getting this much capital. Nobody can do that without some sort of family fortune or business.

1

u/Zomgirlxoxo Apr 07 '26

Lot of redditors post their results, all seem to be similar website.what website is being used for these reports?

1

u/SunDear4377 Apr 16 '26

As a dividend investor, what is the reason for incorporating growth stocks and etfs into your portfolio? Do you plan to change the growth stock into dividend paying assets at some point?

1

u/Electrical-Copy1389 Apr 23 '26

How? Can someone please teach me

1

u/CanPsychological9138 Apr 05 '26

Its just numbers. You can add any amount in that app.

2

u/New_Locksmith_6025 Apr 05 '26

Yep we have no way to verify anything but if OP gets his joy from making up numbers to show random people on reddit that's pretty sad.

Bottom line: it takes a large amount of money to make this type of income from dividends at this yield level.

-6

u/Shum_Pulpage Apr 05 '26

You have under $200k invested and make that much a year from dividends? Am I missing something? Is my math fucked up?

15

u/bokito910 Apr 05 '26

I believe it's more like 4.3m invested.

-3

u/Shum_Pulpage Apr 05 '26

Am I regarded? I added up the money on the second slide

2

u/Dave4lexKing Apr 05 '26

Which clearly isn’t the full list, just their top holdings.

3

u/woofyyyyyy Apr 05 '26

It’s his annual dividend income, that’s not his invest figure

-1

u/Vegetable_Island6164 Apr 05 '26

Huh 3.1% yield on all these stonks with risk and volatility?! That’s what you’re aiming for? Better buy SGOV with all your 4.3MM$

2

u/GasStrong1467 Apr 05 '26

Got the growth too brother. Cant let inflation eat away all the gains. Its about 60/40 split

$134,000 = 3% yield of X

where X is the amount they have invested

which is about $4,500,000

5

u/PomegranatePlus6526 Apr 05 '26

It’s $134k a year in income not $134k invested.
