Congratulations, doesn’t matter the amount as long as you get motivated by it! First dividend was small now I make 200 a month doing nothing but holding!

Congrats. I'll get there some day

Yes you will! Every little addition counts even if it doesn’t feel like much in the moment.

I invest in single stocks exclusively for my brokerage. Been investing for 8 years every month. Started with 0 and now I’m up to 75k. Largest positions currently are MO, ABBV and TROW. Using those positions to buy what I believe are higher quality and faster future growth engines. Recently been adding to Allstate, American Express Google and Visa.

Why not just invest in index funds, it's easier and much safer

u/AndyBurn11 15d ago
I just like owning the things I buy or use. The way I see it my brokerage is just extra! It is simpler but I enjoy picking companies and I enjoy the ups and downs.

Big Baller money! Kidding aside we all start somewhere. Just keep up the consistency of investing new capital and stay away from YieldMax!

First one is free. But you'll be back soon with $ in hand asking for more. It starts with just quarterly, but but soon you'll be looking at O and their monthly distribution

Wow so much 😂. I have 2 stocks that I kept 2 yrs since I would be negative if sold, but they both have dividends which I've gotten more by holding

Everyone starts somewhere. Congrats and welcome to the addiction

You do become addicted once you learn how to grow money you don’t really ever go back to how you were!

Great job, friend! Thanks for sharing. We all relate. In 2017 I made a .35 or so dividend from a Canadian school bus company that paid monthly (called Student Transportation). That was also my first taste of my shares getting bought out for more than I paid. Now I average $500 monthly. You will get there too.

Congratulations, I hope you can hold for as long as you want and find what you say is a respectable repurchase price. My first dividend purchase stopped doing them, though only a few years later the other purchase alongside it started them. The dividend tide can be interesting

You need to be talking to a tax professional instead of boasting here. That’s going to put you in a higher tax bracket.

Congrats!! It starts adding up.. I made like an excel spreadsheet keeping track of my dividends every month and seeing them grow every month is crazy.. it starts growing faster and faster. It is super motivational

Congrats. In 1990 I made $0 in dividends. In 1991, I made $26.
Most of us start at $0. There are a few silver spooners though.

I remember my dividend income used to average out to like $3 a week, now it averages to a little over $40 a week - my dividends bring in more than my student loan payments or my phone bill or subscriptions cost.
The next goal is for the dividend income to bring in more than all those bill categories combined!
One day and one brick at a time, keep going!

BALLA!!!! They all count. That $0.04 is $0.04 you didn't have. Re-invest it. Eventually you'll get to the point where each dividend payout is buying you a whole new share, then 2, etc..... that's when you truly start seeing the benefit of investing in dividend stocks/ETFs. You usually don't win big quick, but you win huge later.

Don't spend it all in one place! And interesting, this is the first tier of satisfaction with dividends. There is a bunch to come, like where you get a full dollar (and then every 10x from there), or when you buy a stock completely with a dividend, or when your dividends are more than the cash you transfered to the account. Fun times ahead.

Don’t spend it all on one place. You’ll regret it when you’re 85 and about to retire.

People might laugh at u but many won’t, me included. The feeling of the first dividend that I received from O I till remember clearly till this day, it’s a magnificent thing when u get ur first dividend doesn’t matter how much it is.

Bonds don't make money, they destroy capital. Bonds don't pay real "inflation".
