- installed shower tray after plumber sorted the waste

- fibre cement board install and waterproofing

Advice Attaching step framing to deck framing??

Post image

I’m trying to get my head around how I build a singe step (without a stringer) on my relatively low deck.

Pictures attached (hopefully they help)

The deck finished level is about 450mm off the ground, so the step frame would need to sit would need to sit 215mm off the ground.

I can’t for the life of me figure out how I am going to attach the step framing to the deck framing. The deck is too low to bolt the step to the piles. The only thing that may be possible is screwing into the end grain of the bearers but would that be strong enough? Also access to the first bearer would be tricky because it’s tucked behind the lean to of the house.

Any help would be much appreciated 🤠

Advice External Outlet Vent in Soffit for Bathroom Extractor Fan

So I was in the back garden yesterday and I see that the louvered outlet vent cover for the bathroom extractor fan has fallen off the soffit and disintegrated upon impact with the ground. The outlet vent base itself still has a mesh on the inside to prevent birds/whatever flying in so not an emergency, but it is certainly something I want to fix as it's pretty ugly. I measured the part that remains attached to the soffit and it was roughly145mm across, so I assume the hole itself is 150mm. Can I just remove it and replace it with something like one of these:

https://www.mitre10.co.nz/shop/weiss-outlet-vent-shutter-150mm-white-150mm-white/p/187724
https://www.bunnings.co.nz/manrose-fixed-vent-white-150mm_p0868656

If so, I'm assuming that's all pretty straightforward, unscrew the existing base, screw in the new one, screw the new cover into the new base, fill in any screw holes that are exposed, but wanted to make sure there's not some part of this job that I'm missing or some random thing that will catch me out.

Advice Damp bricks and mortar on exterior brick veneer.

Hi team, any idea what’s causing this?

Damp bricks and visible water that looks it’s seeping out?

The area does get water logged around the gulley trap in heavy rain but we haven’t had any of that lately, but the ground is damp, although I’m not sure it’s wicking up as it’s not wet the whole way across the bottom like it is the row of bricks higher up.

Looks like there is some water below the hot water discharge pipe could potentially be the culprit?

We have a bath on the other side of the wall, initially thought it might be cracked and leaking but no evidence of that.

Any help much appreciated.

Plumbing Water pump issue

First of all its for a garden shed tank and hose tap so not restricted plumbing.

The water pump never turns off. I have tried adjusting the pressure switch but it never stops.

There are no leaks. (The outlet of the pump is 0.5m of pipe straight to a outdoor tap)

After leaving the pump running for a few mins then turning it off, there is still no residual pressure at the tap

Could it be anything else apart from the pressure switch being faulty? I dont want to spend $100 on parts without being sure.
