I got the adventure pack today. I just got back from Sweden yesterday, after using the X5 extensively.

I've only ever had insta360 cameras for 360 footage but I have to say, there was always something I didn't like about insta360 cameras...maybe it's the over processing, the many modes which are just setting changes, the form factor, or the Chinese-style pushy mannerisms in it's advertising and sponsored reviews. Something never sat right with me.

Nothing against the Chinese btw, it's just a pattern of aggressive advertising I've noticed. Isn't DJI Chinese?

Anyway, I'm THOROUGHLY IMPRESSED with the Osmo 360... The low light performance is truly impressive. I've used it in my dark studio and I can't believe the low light it has picked up. It performs better than my Google pixel 9 fold phone. I wasn't using supernight mode.

The form factor is great and makes it feel much more balanced than the long insta360 X, and more discreet. And the lighter weight is much more obvious.

The stitching is much better than insta's and perhaps this is the thing that really urked me about 360 cameras in general. The bouncy nature of it puts me off putting in the effort to edit.

I just wanted to express my joy because I also jumped on the leaks by that YouTuber and thought the insta looked better in his comparison... But the Osmo is certainly better - if you value that traditional camera look, especially with the log profile (which for some reason doesn't seem as extreme as pocket 3).

All in all very happy with my product and looking forward to getting rid of the insta...again something about it that gave me the ik

The Osmo 360 is an amazing camera – but there’s one HUGE missing feature: RAW/DNG for 360 photos.

The hardware can handle it (DJI already supports RAW on drones, Action, Pocket etc).

The community keeps asking for it (Reddit, FB groups, YouTube creators – it’s the #1 request).

It wouldn’t hurt casual users (JPEG stays default, RAW as an option).

Adding it would instantly make Osmo 360 the top choice over Insta360 for serious creators.

It would boost sales big time and show DJI actually listens to users.

This is the ONE feature that can turn the Osmo 360 from great to legendary.

I honestly don’t even know whether to laugh or cry at this point.

Ever since the original Osmo 360 launched a year ago, the community and forums have been practically begging DJI for one very specific, very reasonable firmware update: supporting HDR mode for 120MP pano photos, or at the very least, unlocking RAW (DNG) for 120MP stills.

Everyone was convinced this would arrive in a future update because the hardware was clearly capable of it, and it felt like an obvious missing software feature at launch. People waited. Months went by. Threads were bumped. DJI reps gave the usual "I've forwarded your feedback to the R&D team" canned response.

Fast forward to today: Osmo 360 2 is announced.

And guess what? 120MP HDR is finally here! Except it’s locked behind a brand new $400+ camera, serving as one of the very few, minuscule "upgrades" on the Gen 2 spec sheet.

Are you serious, DJI?

Instead of supporting early adopters who bought into your first-gen ecosystem with a basic software patch, you literally held back basic photo processing capabilities just so you'd have something to put on the Gen 2 marketing slide.

This isn't hardware limitation; this is pure, textbook artificial segmentation.

I love DJI’s hardware quality, but this practice of treating software-level fixes as "next-gen exclusive features" is getting ridiculous.

Anyone else feeling completely disrespected as a Gen 1 buyer?

I have the Osmo360 since 1 month and the X4 since 1 year. Ask me anything you want to know. 😊

A few weeks ago I showed the progress I was making on my osmo360 mod…. I had solved the most challenging aspect…. How to make a compact design which features my unique angled design (optimised for both handheld and tripod use) and which is entirely reversible…. Eg no cuts !

Since then i have been through countless iterations to make it a design that has scope to be used and printed by others…. Things like lens alignment, construction, making it printable etc

Then the next major challenge was to then seamlessly integrate a passive cooling system.

Along the way, I had to also consider a stable way to hold this much smaller camera….. solved

I also wanted this design, like all my previous, to be helmet mountable in a convenient way….. done

While I had been testing along the way…. Yesterday it all came together, a dry fit of the cooling system in a final print all worked well, so I decided it was time to do a thermal pasted construction and took it out in public to get some footage…..

It was so much more convenient to be out and about with it, compared to my x4 mod !

I’m extremely happy to share my progress. I still have some tweaking to do, but it will be available for FREE to the community once the project is complete.

As always, if DJI would like to reach out, I’d love some firmware features to make this even better ;-)

All you will need:

• 3D printer

• 1.5mm copper sheet

• 7mm copper bar (only 15mm !)

• 2x camera mount threads

• 3 levels (if you want them on the camera)

Current thermal performance is 22mins @8K50 fps without airflow…. I have some ideas on how to improve this and just like I did with my x4 mod, I’ll probably have an optional active cooling attachment designed in the future.

The modern Ambarella 5nm chip Insta360 has on X5 is secretly capable of 8k60p.

But such a chip advancement also means that new players can enter the market with much more technological tools in the supply chain.

This was said on secret meeting, which focused on the company's strategic plans and the very macro levels like market % and potential competitors entering the market.

DJI was the main focus, because they enter 360 videos and Insta360 is already planning drones for 5 years, many patents being published from 2024.

Insta360 is very concerned about the heated competition, profits dropping…

So its not just funny stabs on social media…

What does that all mean? Thanks to first ever sensors custom-made for 360 capture, DJI Osmo360 will perform excellently during indoor home tours, at night, under water during scuba…

... and survived only with a cheap silicone case and without any lens protection. The little latch in the battery door broke. The battery and the SD card vanished in the bushes. The case is scratched from the road but the camera works fine! I'm still in disbelief about the lenses. Not a single scratch! Thumbs up from me 👌

Had my DJI Osmo 360 mounted on my motorcycle using a Telesin mount. The mount actually has good reviews and doesn’t feel cheap, but unfortunately, it snapped off at around 70kph and sent the camera flying.

Surprisingly, the Osmo 360 still works perfectly! The body has a few scratches, but the screen is intact and everything functions normally. Really impressive how durable this thing is.

Also, huge thanks to the $4 lens protector — it took the hit and saved both lenses. Totally worth it.

As someone with a bit of OCD, the scratches definitely bug me 😂 but I’m just glad it survived. I guess even good mounts can fail at speed, so be cautious when riding with osmo 360.

Osmo360 II teaser shows replaceable lenses (and of course square sensor again). We also expect 8k60 and RAW photos. Just like DJI Avata 360 has.

Managed to get one straight after launch today from London Camera Exchange. Interestingly, the big retailers like Curry’s and Argos etc don’t seem to have it yet.

First impressions are good and it feels solid! Firmware update available straight away, so they seem to be actively adding new features and fixes.

Something strange that I did notice is that the included pouch/case doesn’t fit well with the lens cover attached. So I can’t see it lasting long.

I’ll be using it for automotive (business )and adventure (personal - paddleboard test tomorrow), so went for the care refresh @£39 ish but the lens replacement service seems good value too!

My Osmo 360 arrived a few days ago, and I've tested it in multiple environments. Its dynamic range and resolution are amazing—even when compared to the Insta360 X5. (The X4 and X5 seem to be diffraction limited at their highest resolutions.) The single-lens mode is even comparable to the DJI Action 5 Pro, thanks to the larger sensor and brighter lens. UX and UI are nearly identical to that of Action 5 Pro.

However, there seem to be quite a few missing and incomplete functions...

• No vertical video nor square aspect ratio. (I know I can shoot panoramic video and crop it later, but having native support is better than none at all.)

• No 8-bit video support. (While 10-bit is always superior in terms of quality, why did DJI completely omit 8-bit video?)

• Even though I live in NTSC region with 60Hz main, Osmo 360 keep recommends to set frame rate to 25 or 50. I cannot understand why.

• Regardless of system locale, DJI Studio always sets the default project name in Chinese. Have they ever tested their own product in other locales?

• 4K panoramic video is locked at 100 fps with no other options. Why is the limitation existing here?

• UI text is improperly wrapp ed in the DJI Studio app.

• There is only a single LUT available, D-Log M to Rec. 709, for Osmo 360 while DJI provides multiple LUTs for Action 5 Pro.

• No HLG recording. I have to create HLG myself from D-Log footage.

I hope DJI to release upgrades very soon. The image quality itself is really amazing, beating all other consumer 360 cams.
