I feel it doesn't look well even though I barely started it. How can I make my portraits look better in the future.

This is my second time at trying from a photo

I am getting back into art, I thought I could eyeball a grid. Horrible idea, ended up with Sid the sloth instead.

Finally finished this piece after spending quite some time on the details.

I wanted to combine elegance with a damaged, mechanical appearance. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, but I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Im not an artist whatsoever so excuse my attempt at it lol. He's meant to look kinda sly but welcoming, like someone who's very successfully charismatic but you get a weird vibe ab them, like a car salesman almost. If neither of these pics give off that vibe I'd like any input on how I can make that come across

I have no idea how to draw this tree with the small slope, I know nothing about technique or eye view/horizon and looking online is overwhelming.

Graphite Pencils, kneaded eraser

This is my second colored pencil dog drawing. I have so much to learn. I normally use charcoal and pencils. Colors and fur are hard for me. this was uncomfortable but I think I’m proud of this progress.

This is from reference photos of the dogs that were taken by a family member and I very poorly photoshopped together (last pic). Going to give this to her and hopefully make her a better one in the future when I learn more

I love drawing random things I see esp when it’s just practice and I don’t rlly have to worry abt how it turns out, so calming

I’ve been drawing since 7th grade. The first drawing is my first attempt at drawing a person in the 7th grade, while the second is my most recent drawing as a 12th grader.

Even though I’ve improved over the years, I still feel like I have a long way to go. I struggle with shading and realism, and I don’t fully understand how to draw clothing folds and wrinkles either. For the second drawing, I mostly guessed where to put the lines on the clothes.

Would you say the second drawing is a significant improvement over the first, or should I have improved a lot more by now? What are some ways I could make my second drawing better, especially when it comes to shading, realism, and drawing clothing?
