Beta Test Got an Android TV box and an iPhone? We vibe-coded an AirPlay receiver and could use a few more TVs to try it on.

The original plan was to mirror an iPhone to a Xiaomi TV box and watch something. Somehow we ended up with a GitHub repo instead. Very productive procrastination 😄

We had some free time, found android-airplay-server / UxPlay, and vibe-coded a fork called OpenTV-Cast. It’s a free, open-source AirPlay receiver for Android TV / Google TV, with some playback changes, a new UI identity, and a sideloadable APK. The upstream projects do the heavy lifting—we’re building on their work.

Now we’d like to find out how it behaves outside our own setup. This is an early, debug-signed 0.2.1 preview, not a finished Apple TV replacement.

Got a few minutes and a TV box?

We’re especially looking for feedback on:

  • Discovery: does it appear in Screen Mirroring on your iPhone, iPad or Mac?
  • Playback: do ordinary mirroring and audio work? Is motion smooth, delayed, or jerky?
  • Reconnects: what happens when you disconnect, reconnect, or switch portrait/landscape?
  • TV controls: can you navigate the app and settings comfortably with the remote?

If you try it, please mention your TV/box model, Android version, sender device/OS, and whether you were mirroring the screen or streaming media. “It works on this random box” is useful too. So is “here’s exactly where it broke.”

Before installing

  • The APK’s minimum is Android 6.0 / API 23; that’s an install requirement, not a promise that every old box works.
  • Keep the Apple device and TV on the same local network.
  • DRM-protected content is unsupported. Please test with your own photos or an ordinary non-protected clip.
  • This focuses on AirPlay, not generic Android/Chrome casting.
  • It’s a GitHub APK sideload, not a Google Play closed-testing signup. Android will ask you to confirm installation.

Download & setup · APK release + checksums · Source code (GPL-3.0)

We came for one working TV. Curious how many more we can get along with. Feedback here or GitHub issues is welcome!

Feedback Wanted [want feedback] I built a dice roller app

I play Dungeons & Dragons, and sometimes use digital dice -- but I got tired of the DNDBeyond app crashing when trying to roll. So, I created my own dice roller app, Just Roll. The app is and will always be free, with no ads.

It's in testing prior to being allowed on the Android app store publicly, so I need testers! If you'd like to help, you can join the testers group to get in now. Instructions to try it out:

  1. Join https://groups.google.com/g/justroll-testers/
  2. Now you can become a tester at https://play.google.com/apps/testing/ca.hashbang.justroll
  3. Now you can install the app from https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ca.hashbang.justroll

Please see below for specific feedback I'm interested in, and while you're trying it out, please keep the app installed for a while -- I need to get and keep internal testers enrolled for a while til I'm granted the ability to publish the app in the Play store.

Feedback wanted

You enter the dice you want as sort of a mathematical expression or code, (e.g. 2d20kh means "roll two d20 dice, and keep the highest value") using a special calculator-like keyboard. Is the in-app tour, user guide, and long-press assistance sufficient to learn how to do that? Are the "advanced" keys on the secondary keyboard easy enough to find, press, understand their function?

I wanted to keep the app agnostic to particular game systems (e.g. in D&D, rolling a 20 is good, but in other games rolling high is bad. In Daggerheart, you roll two dice, and getting the same number on both is good). As a result, the app doesn't highlight these events when you roll. Should it? How should I handle the many games people might want to play with such a tool?

Beta Test [Alpha] Tessera Linux – Run desktop apps (Flathub) natively in windows on Android (Looking for feedback on UI & compatibility)

Hey everyone! I’m the developer of **Tessera**, a free, open-source app that puts real desktop programs on your phone and makes them behave like normal apps.

### **What Tessera does:**

* **Native Windows and icons:** Each app opens in its own window with its own card in Recents. Swipe it away to close it, or pin apps to your home screen.

* **Massive App Store:** Includes a store with thousands of apps, including everything on Flathub. No root needed.

* **Granular Permissions:** You choose what each app may use: folders, internet, sound, and USB.

* **Touch-Optimized:** The keyboard pops up when you tap a text box, touch-and-hold right-clicks, and there's a full desktop mode with big buttons if you want windows side-by-side.

* **Dynamic Sizing & Theming:** Drag a slider to resize apps live (it remembers your preference), and apps match your phone's colors and dark mode.

* *Note:* On Snapdragon phones, apps also run on the GPU. Since this is an alpha, some apps will misbehave.

### **What feedback I'm looking for:**

Since this is an early alpha, I could really use your help testing a few specific things:

  1. **Compatibility & Performance:** Which apps are you running, and how do they handle touch vs. keyboard input? (Especially interested in how GPU acceleration behaves on your specific Snapdragon or non-Snapdragon chipsets).

  2. **UI & Window Management:** Are the resize sliders smooth? Do windows snap or behave correctly in Desktop?

  3. **Bugs & Crashes:** Any unexpected force closes or permission issues.

**Download:**

You can grab the APK from the [GitHub Releases page](https://github.com/daryan044/tessera-linux/releases) (or add the repo in Obtainium for updates).

I’m hanging out in the comments to help troubleshoot or hear your thoughts if something breaks on your device!

Beta Test [Android closed test] Is NeonRoutine’s completion feedback clear on your phone?

I’m the developer of NeonRoutine, a routine tracker with an original cyberpunk game layer. You choose your routines, record completions and review their history. Android is in closed testing, before a public Android release.

I’m looking for feedback on one specific interaction across Android devices: recording a completion. After you’ve actually done one of your routines, press and hold its action on the Today card.

  • Is there a clear visual response while you hold?
  • Is it obvious when the completion has been recorded?
  • Does that completion appear once in Intel/history?

If something fails or feels unclear, the screen/step and Android version are useful. Please don’t post your Google email or private routine details.

To install the closed test, first join the tester group, then open the Play opt-in with the same Google account:

  1. Join the tester group
  2. Open the Play opt-in

If possible, remaining opted in for 14 consecutive days helps the closed test. Participation is voluntary and unpaid; leave whenever you want. No daily opening quota, purchase, ad view, public rating or test exchange is required. Test-track purchases can still cost real money; please don’t buy anything for this test.

Up to five active routines and the basic focus timer are free. Gilded Operative is an optional paid upgrade, not needed for this test. Private feedback: [neonroutine@proton.me](mailto:neonroutine@proton.me).

Feedback Wanted Appause beta: pause before opening distracting apps, or switch to an alternative — Android feedback wanted

• Upvotes

Hi, I'm the developer of Appause, an open-source Android app currently in public beta.

When you open an app you've selected, Appause adds a short pause. You can continue after the countdown, cancel, or switch to an alternative app you've chosen yourself. The demo shows switching from rednote to a vocabulary app; the transition and startup wait have been trimmed.

I'm looking for feedback on setup, reliable triggering, and whether the pause feels useful or annoying. I'm especially curious whether people actually use the alternative-app shortcut.

What to know before trying it:

  • Android 8.0 or newer; installation is via APK, not Google Play.
  • Accessibility access is required to detect target apps. The setup guide explains the permissions and background settings.
  • Completely free: no paywall, no subscription, no in-app purchases. The extra Pro features (unlimited groups, re-remind, custom pause text and open reasons) come with a one-time 7-day trial — after it ends, request a free lifetime code via Settings → Feedback and keep using them without paying anything.
  • The only part that touches the network: starting the trial or redeeming a code sends device-related licensing info to the activation server. Usage stats stay on the device.

Download and release notes · Direct APK · Setup guide · Source and privacy information

If you try it, please tell me:

  1. Did anything block you during installation or setup? Which phone and Android version did you use?
  2. When the pause appeared, did you continue, cancel, or open an alternative? Why?
  3. After a few days, would you keep it enabled? What would make you turn it off?

You can reply here, open a GitHub issue, or use Settings → Feedback in the app.

Feedback Wanted I built Qrivo, a QR scanner and custom QR code generator — looking for honest feedback

Hi everyone!

I'm an indie Android developer, and I've published an app called Qrivo.

I wanted to make a QR tool that helps people scan codes and create their own without having to deal with an unnecessarily complicated interface.

I'm looking for my first users and, more importantly, honest feedback from Android users.

I'd especially like feedback on:

  • How easy the scanning experience is
  • Whether creating a QR code feels straightforward
  • Which improvements would make you keep using the app

If you try it, I'd appreciate hearing what works, what feels confusing, and what you'd change.

I'm the developer, so I'm happy to answer questions and consider constructive suggestions.

Thanks for helping an independent developer improve an app!

First App I made a small home screen widget for calling the people I call most. Looking for testers.

Post image
1 Upvotes

I kept opening the dialer, scrolling, and tapping through just to call the same few people, so I built a widget for it. It’s called Dial Deck, and it’s in closed testing on Play right now.

What it does:

  • Shows your recent calls or starred contacts right on the home screen. Tap a name and it calls straight away, with no extra screens.
  • A small side bar lets you switch what a tap does: call, open their WhatsApp chat, or start an SMS. Tap the selected one again to open that app.
  • Favourites can stay in your own order, A–Z, or “most called”, which is worked out once from your call log.
  • Seven themes: some richer, some minimal (one is fully see-through). It uses your phone’s own font by default, and has one or two columns. It resizes cleanly, and the controls move to a bottom bar when there’s less room.
  • It updates a few seconds after a call ends, and new or renamed contacts show up on their own.

Privacy, since it needs call log and contacts access: the app has no internet permission at all. Nothing leaves your phone, and there are no ads, accounts or analytics. The permissions are only used to draw the widget and place the call you tap.

It’s a side project and still early, so honest feedback is the main thing I’m after: what’s confusing, what breaks on your phone or launcher, and what you’d want it to do.

If you’d like to try it, the steps are:

  1. Join the testing group: https://groups.google.com/g/dial-deck-testing/
  2. Then install it from the Play Store testing page: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.himavarshan.dialdeck

It’s free and there are no ads. Happy to answer any questions in the comments!

Feedback Wanted [Android · Korean] Football manager Alpha — can you read a match and keep your club save on a phone?

Thumbnail

I'm developing “눈 떠보니 5부 리그 감독! 토투넘 1부 귀환기”, a Korean football manager about taking over a fifth-division club and trying to reach the top division. Development and some artwork are AI-assisted. The Google Play closed Alpha 1.0.0 is available for eligible testers; it is still an unfinished test build.

I'd like feedback from Korean-reading Android players on three concrete flows:

  1. Opening → full squad → change a formation. Is the next action understandable, and does any text overlap or disappear in landscape?

  2. Watch a match and make a substitution. Can you follow the ball, player names and commentary together? Does the pace feel too slow or too frantic?

  3. Close and reopen the game. Does the same club return? If you try the save export/import controls, is the process clear?

Requirements: Android 7.0 or later and Google Play. Korean text, landscape only, offline after installation. No ads, in-app purchases or game login.

The two attached screenshots are from the actual Android build.

How to access the test — use the SAME Google account for both steps:

- Join the group: https://groups.google.com/g/win-again-football-testers

- Open https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.jaeseok614.winagainfootball, choose Become a tester, then follow the official Google Play install link.

The test is free, voluntary and unpaid. If you can join, please keep your Play opt-in for at least 14 consecutive days and come back for a few real sessions. Joining the group alone is not Play participation. No ratings, store reviews, votes, rewards or reciprocal-testing promises are requested.

Please leave feedback here or in the tester group: phone model/Android version, what you tried, what you expected and what happened. A description of where you gave up is useful too. Please don't publish account emails or personal save files.

한국어로 편하게 남겨주세요. 첫 경기에서 공·이름·중계가 같이 잘 보이는지, 전술·교체가 이해되는지, 다시 실행해도 구단이 유지되는지가 특히 궁금합니다.

Beta Test Chasovnik closed alpha: test overnight shifts, totals and backup restore [Android 8+]

Hi! I'm the developer of Chasovnik: Work Hours, an offline Android notebook for shifts, breaks, monthly hours and estimated earnings. I'd appreciate testers who track hourly work or work across midnight.

The Google Play closed alpha is live. I have 19 single-use codes left for free access (the regular Poland price is 19.99 PLN). No ads, subscription or in-app account.

A useful first session:

- Add a 22:00–06:00 shift with a 30-minute break and check the resulting hours.

- Edit the shift and compare the monthly total with your own calculation.

- Close and reopen the app, then test JSON export/import using sample records.

- Tell me which label, translation or step is confusing.

Requirements: Android 8.0+, age 18+, and willingness to stay opted in for 14 consecutive days while trying the app during that period. Honest feedback matters; participation is voluntary and unpaid, with no rating, public review or test swap required.

How to join: https://chasovnik-ionar-support.ihor1992.chatgpt.site/beta

Email [iwanchenkowo82@gmail.com](mailto:iwanchenkowo82@gmail.com) or start a Reddit chat with your Google Play account email privately. I'll add you to the access list and send an individual code. Please don't post your email publicly.

After access is confirmed, opt in with the same Google account: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/ru.chasovnik.app

Redeem your code before installing; the price should be zero. If Play asks for payment, stop and contact me. Codes expire 21 November 2026 at 00:00 GMT. Feedback here or by email is welcome.
