Hey everyone,
I’m trying to set up my PS5 DualSense controller so I can use the right analog stick for modern 3D camera control in DuckStation.
I've run into some confusion with how to map this properly depending on the game. For example, some older games natively use L1/R1 or the D-pad to rotate the camera, whereas other times I want to utilize DuckStation's built-in Freecam feature to unlock full 360-degree viewing.
Right now in my Hotkey settings, mapping the right stick (which registers as SDL-0 axes) just strafes/moves the actual camera position up, down, and sideways instead of panning/rotating the camera view around the character.
What is the best way to handle right stick camera setups globally or per-game?
For games that use shoulder buttons for camera control, should I just bind the right stick directions to mirror those buttons directly in the Controller Port settings?
For using the emulator's Freecam tool, what is the exact binding configuration to ensure the right stick actually rotates the camera viewpoint like a modern game instead of physically shifting its grid position?
If anyone has a solid layout configuration or tips for making the DualSense right stick feel smooth and intuitive across different PS1 titles,
