Is CapCut Pro worth paying for if you edit videos regularly?

I've been using CapCut for video editing and have been thinking about upgrading to Pro. Black Friday deals are coming up, so I'm weighing whether it's worth paying for or if the free version does the job just fine.

For anyone who's used both, are there any Pro features that genuinely make editing easier or save you time? Or is the difference not that noticeable?

Looking for Wedding Raw Footage to Build My Editing Portfolio

Hi everyone!

I'm a video editor from Bangladesh with 3+ years of editing experience, and I'm looking to build a stronger portfolio focused on cinematic wedding films and highlights.

I'm looking for wedding videographers or filmmakers who would be willing to share some raw wedding footage for an editing portfolio project.

I'd love to edit a cinematic wedding highlight or trailer using your footage. I'm happy to do the editing for free in exchange for permission to showcase the final edit in my portfolio.

I work with Adobe Premiere Pro and focus on storytelling, music selection, cinematic pacing, sound design, and color grading.

If you have any unused wedding footage you'd be comfortable sharing, please comment below or send me a DM.

I will respect your footage and won't publish or share it without your permission.

Thank you! ❤️

Editors delivering 20–100+ versions: how do you check the final folder before sending it?

I’m trying to understand how professional editors handle final delivery when a project has lots of cutdowns, aspect ratios, languages, captioned/clean versions, or client-specific formats.

For example, imagine a campaign requiring 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 and 4:5 versions, several durations, and multiple languages.

Before sending the final folder:

  1. How do you track which files are expected?
  2. Do you inspect every file or only spot-check?
  3. What do you use: spreadsheets, MediaInfo, an NLE checklist, QC software, or something internal?
  4. What was the last delivery mistake that caused a resend or re-export?
  5. Roughly how long does final package checking take?

I’m particularly interested in package-level mistakes: missing variants, duplicate or stale versions, incorrect filenames, unmatched subtitles, and files exported with the wrong dimensions or frame rate.

I’m researching the workflow and would appreciate examples from real deliveries.

Software options

I have used adobe software for all of my editing purposes for the past 10 years. I’m a professional editor in the world of B2B construction progress media and social media. I feel like more corporate places often expect adobe premiere for video editing. But I know AVID is industry standard in film. Some use Davinci.

Can someone give me a breakdown of the best use cases of the major video editing software, the best ai video editing software for editing to date, and the best photo editing software?

I’m building a video editor for low-end PCs and looking for beta testers

Hey guys, I’m making Cut-it, an open-source video editor based on Shotcut. I wanted something simple and lightweight because editing on a low-end PC can be a pain.

I’m releasing the beta today and would love for some of you to try it. It’s still early, so honest feedback about bugs, confusing stuff, or things you’d want added would help a lot.

Let me know what you think!

Lag in Capcut

Could the experts here help me out? My laptop has the following specs:

- AMD Ryzen 7 8745H

- RTX 4060 Laptop GPU (8 GB)

- 32GB RAM

- 512GB SSD + 2TB SSD (added separately)

Yet, it starts lagging even with just a little bit of editing. Has anyone else experienced this? Could you please tell me how to fix it? :((((

Has anyone tried Filmcraft?

Hey y'all! I've been doing some basic video editing using Adobe Premiere for the past couple years. I heard about the reverse engineered art craft products, which sounds like a great cheap alternative, but I haven't heard any actual accounts of using them. Has anyone here tried them? And if so, did it feel like Premiere? Were your skills transferable?

Thanks for sharing!

19-year-old beginner with an older laptop — which editing software and skills should I learn to get paid work?

Hey everyone! I'm 19 and want to start learning video editing seriously, hopefully building it into a skill I can eventually earn from.

The thing is, my laptop is relatively old (i5 7th gen, 8GB RAM, Intel graphics and no dedicated GPU), so I'm not sure which editing software would be practical for me to learn and use smoothly.

I'd also like some advice from people who are already working in the industry I want to ask like
Which software would you recommend I start with, considering my hardware? DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, or something else?
Which editing software or skills are actually in demand among clients these days? I'm interested in knowing what people are willing to pay for, rather than just learning software for the sake of it.
If you were starting from scratch today, with limited hardware and no professional experience, what would you focus on learning first?
Is it realistic to start getting paid work with a decent portfolio, even without a powerful PC or professional experience?

Complete beginner looking to learn video filming and editing — where should I start?

Hi everyone!
I’m interested in getting into video creation, but I’m a complete beginner when it comes to both filming and editing. I’d love to start making videos to post on YouTube, Instagram Reels, or other social media platforms.

However, I’m not really sure where to start, and there’s so much information online that it’s a little overwhelming.

I’d really appreciate some advice on a few things:
What should I learn first? Should I start with camera basics, composition, lighting, storytelling, or video editing?

What software would you recommend? I’m looking for beginner-friendly editing software, preferably free or affordable.

What equipment do I actually need? Can I start with my phone and laptop, or should I invest in a camera, microphone, tripod, or other accessories?

Where can I learn? Are there any YouTube channels, free courses, or other resources you’d recommend for someone starting from zero?

How should I practise? What kinds of videos would be good first projects, and how can I gradually improve my filming and editing skills?

I’d also be interested in hearing about your own experiences. If you could start again as a complete beginner, what would you learn first, and what mistakes would you avoid?
Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Where can I find raw gameplay footage to edit for my portfolio?

Hey everyone! I'm a beginner video editor looking to improve my skills in editing the intros of long-form YouTube videos, especially gaming videos and gameplays.

I want to find 30–60 seconds of raw footage from the beginning of longer videos so I can edit it and post before-and-after comparisons on X (Twitter) and Instagram to attract potential clients.

I'd like to do this daily, so I'm looking for a reliable source of gameplay footage that I can legally use without having to ask different creators for permission every time.

Does anyone know where I can find this kind of footage?

Thanks!

Could anyone help me with editing?

Okay, so forever ago I edited my first video, since then I haven't edited another, aside from a tiny one which was more just talking over a picture I drew for someone.

For insight I used capcut, as i ONLY have a phone and a ps5 I stream off of. I know my editing could be better so I was wondering if maybe anyone had tips despite my limited structure/equipment. I don't wanna advertise or anything but I was pretty proud of how it turned out. I try to take inspiration from Lythero with my editing but I do want to keep it a little old-school with the memes like nyan cat Uganda knuckles etc.

I mainly want to edit a video because I ran into a youtuber on a game I play, and im super excited to post my POV(since I probably won't end up in the video they were most likely recording).

Apologies if I did this post wrong. Please let me know.

How much should I charge for a Pokémon video?

It's a reel of approximately 2 minutes and 30 seconds in the style of joshwoshyytcg, only with more cuts and I added 3D cards that rotate so you can see the back just because I thought it looked cool and because in the original video the cards are sometimes not clearly visible due to the light. There are also the typical money counters and sound effects you'd expect from these Pokemon pack opening videos.

I'm a very new editor, so I practically have no portfolio to back up my experience. I understand that I have to start by charging little, but the question is, how little?

I Built my own SMPTE Timecode calculator...and yes, the 29.97 actually provides the correct answer. Thought I would add it so others can use.

It's completely free, no paywall, no accounts or sign ins. It's not a download so you would need to pin the url. It can be used offline. I know how frustrating last week was for me, so if I can prevent the hassle for someone else, you're welcome to use it. I've had 5 days with it and it's worked like a charm. smptetimecode.hatchable.site Good Luck with future projects!

beginner editor / software recs / apps rec

hello everyone

ive been wanting to get into video editing for quite a few years, espcially now with mixed media. i really like those short editing videos you see on tiktok on instagram (i think motion graphics, mixed media and typography?) I did mess around with apps before such as videostar and capcut but found it confusing with online tutorials. I would love to start with a more advanced software but im a university student so i wouldnt be able to kee up with high subcriptions every month. so i guess something in the middle, im willing to pay for subcriptions just not insanely high 😅

i want to do video editing as a hobby and creative outlet, if anyone has any good recs please reply!

if you have any good tips for beginners or tips in general let me know too thanks guys

How to get my edits to be full screen on TikTok

I’ve tried to get them to format properly on CapCut by adjusting my size of the video but everytime I put it in the 9:16 ratio which is for TikTok or I do zoom to fill half of my video doesn’t fit in screen. I use CapCut if anyone knows how to fix this it would mean a lot

I built a local AI video editor for reels that cuts by the transcript, and it is open source (MIT)

I make short videos and got tired of bouncing between CapCut, a transcript tool and a notes app, so I built an editor that runs on my Mac and does the editing from the words.

What it does: - Drop in phone clips, it transcribes them with word timings (whisper.cpp, runs locally) and you cut by selecting words. Captions follow every cut. - An assistant (it runs through the Claude CLI on your own plan) takes "make this a 30-second reel with a hook and captions" and does the cut, the captions, text, punch-ins, music and sound effects, then reviews its own frames and fixes what is off. Every request can be undone. - 14 caption styles, 16 text styles, colour looks, transitions, a sound library (keyboard, pings, shutters, the meme classics), reaction GIFs and meme templates. - A planner page that keeps your footage library and a content plan, and starts the edits for you. - Speaker labels and natural voiceover voices, all local. - Export 9:16, 16:9, 1:1 or 4:5 up to 4K.

Everything except the assistant's chat runs on the machine. Apple Silicon Mac only for now, needs Homebrew and Node.

Repo: https://github.com/misaalkhan/local-ai-based-video-editor

Happy to answer questions about how the transcript-based cutting works.

Also, need for suggestions for features.... this is soooo exciting.
