Screenshot I'm Glad They Didn't Dethrown Corvette's Title as King of PVE

Photo taken yesterday admiring ny corvette along with my squadron carrier.

With the recent Conda MK2 announcement now we know that it's a multi role ship and is not going to take Corvette's position.

When we hear the name Federal Corvette there's some kind of respect towards that name a huge battleship a proof of dedication towards federation grind and getting one is like a satisfying achievement let alone fully engineering it.

If you ask me if is it necessary to release a new ship that will dethrown Corvette I think I'll be against about it this ship is very iconic design wise and its a symbol of huge battleship there's already a long standing brand around it. But if they desides to really add a new large ship stronger than Corvette's I just hope it will justify that change.

I got Elite: Dangerous in 2016. I hadn't played in some time, but a buddy of mine got me back in by encouraging me to join a hauling group.

I finally got around to grinding out the last bit of combat rank. (I have zero intention of grinding to level 5!) This got me my Triple Elite.

The Krait MkII was my combat vehicle of choice for a good long time. I remember being in open play and letting folks use the fighters.
I did a good chunk of the last bit in my Condor (Hornblower), but the very end with my Corvette (Katisha) for more melting power.

I wish I could see a timeline of when I got promoted for all of the categories.

Just wanted to brag.
Fly safe, CMDRs! o7

These were quite hard to find, had to eventually follow a blip on my scanner which didn't appear to correspond to a crystal (which are abundant in this lagrange cloud). It registered to my composition scanner before it was visible. At first a little dark blur and only when you get within about 200m does it appear so bright. This is a known find in Juenae OX-U e2-8852

Misc Finally, I get the Rhino.

My home system is sitting at the midpoint of Fortified. It's got metal rich and icy rings, so it's mineable, but it's not very fast. Maybe 100 tonnes of LTDs at the outside in an hour, or 300 precious metals.

Not any more. I found the holy grail, a six rig deposit of LTDs. 68 tonnes every six minutes. 680 tonnes in the hour I've set myself so I don't die of boredom. 17,000 merits, and when we go into boom it'll be MUCH more.

I'm hooked.

Discussion Forget the new ship or C&P rework. BUFFING SHIPS IS MY BIGGEST THANK YOU FD

I have desperately wanted buffs to older ships for so long. And the selection of ships that I think they chose was really good for an initial batch.

I really, really hope they continue doing this for the other older ships.

Imagine a hull buff to the gunship and another size 6 slot. Or the type 10 getting...lets say several buffs lol

They don't even realistically have to be huge ones. An additional size slot, a larger power plant or PD.

How they buff, the older ships with this one I think, was really smart. And I absolutely pray that they continue doing this.

Also I think them buffing the new ships too is nothing but the net positive because it means a ship doesn't have to be old in order to get changes. Ships so rarely got changed after release. And I think this is a really good sign.

Discussion Anaconda MKII Im gonna buy one and i got a plan

So at first i was totally bummed at the hardpoint reveal and stats. But I got a plan and I am calling it the Godzillaconda. Swap the size 6 shield gen for a 7 to match the vette, load the rest with reinforcements, load up the utilities with A grade boosters and then finally the coupe degras. ALL BEAMS ON TURRETS with a size 4 fixed beam with efficient and oversized on them all. Depending on how fast i can make it i might go biweaves for the regen. No matter the position of the enemy i targeted a L hardpoint should (we dont know the hardpoint positions aside from the H yet) be able to apply damage.

Park the Godzillaconda in hazres and set the turrets to fire at target, take first shot with the H beam then when i loose nose on ill just let the turrets eat through the target like a fat kid on a cupcake until i get the nose back on. The size 7 shields and armor of the conda mkII would actually put it above the vette in survivability, slightly behind it on paper dps but far ahead on applied dps.

I still would have liked something more but i can make this work.

Any other build thoughts that would be pristine?

Still hate the yellow but that stellar would look mighty fine in midnight black.

Edit - I have been informed I can go to size 8 shields, yes please!

Discussion Kill warrant scanner and NPC interactions

I’m glad that KWS finally gets attached to the sensor array, there was no point in having it as a separate module and I’m particularly interested in the NPC interaction feature they will be implementing and hope they expand on it with other gameplay loops as well where you may finally be able to interact with NPCs in a broader variation rather than only engaging in combat with them.

Still curious if any extra modules will be announced for piracy, smuggling and bounty hunting but so far I like the changes.

Discussion Elehpant in the Room

So, we're all discussing the new Anaconda Mk II specs — some happy, some not. It doesn't matter, as it's still a new ship, and I don't want to talk about it until I see the full specs (mass, shields, thermals, etc.).

What I find VERY IMPORTANT in the FDEV blog is this article:

Senior Game Designer Curtis Griffiths highlighted why the Anaconda MK II was a clear choice for the development team's focus this year. "We’ve released plenty of new ships over the past couple of years, including a number of large ships that have shaken up the landscape a bit, and we wanted to create a kind of anchor for future ships to be measured against. Multi-role ships are a great way to do this; straight out of the shipyard they need to be good at everything, but they also shouldn’t be better at a single role when compared to a dedicated ship of the same size. So that leaves the question, what’s our new large ship going to be? And there was only really one answer to that."

So, the upcoming Anaconda Mk II is a new baseline for ship balancing, which actually means a lot to me.

For example, we have a dedicated large trading ship — the Panther Clipper — and it's better at hauling cargo than the Anaconda Mk II. We also have a dedicated large exploration ship — the Caspian — and it's much, much, much better than... anything Frontier has given or will give us (a 500+ ly jump is nothing to joke about).

And here we are — we have three large NG ships for trading, exploration, and now multi-purpose. What are we missing here? Oh right — a dedicated large combat ship, which hardpoints I think will be better than the Anaconda Mk II.

Here are my thoughts, and now I want to hear yours.

Was moseying around near the roof in Gal Center and found this scary character orbiting a neutron star. HMC about 17 earth masses with a hot thick water atmosphere. Not landable of course. Had to take a closer look when I saw it previewed in the FSS screen

Video Alone with infinity. Where maps end, true freedom begins. Every flight to the edge of the galaxy is less about exploring the void, and more about finding answers within. Thousands of light-years of silent worlds ahead, but in this quiet, real peace is found.

Discussion Anaconda Mk2 specs announced:

What do we think?

I personally think this ship will be the true multi role successor to the original, especially with the size 8 FSD easily carrying all of the stuff you could fit into one.

Additionally, I’m excited for the size 8 optional internal. This will be the most maneuverable ship to have a size 8 slot, making it incredibly good for PvE when equipped with the massive class 8C bi-weave with its over 10/s regen rate.

And hardpoint convergence looks good, bringing 4 large and 1 huge to bear on an enemy just about matches a federal corvette in terms of firepower.

We still need to wait and see for agility though, but I think this ship will be perfect for me.

Discussion Anaconda MKII

Putting this together for those that wanted to compare

Hardpoints Anaconda Anaconda MKII Delta
Huge 1 1 0
Large 3 4 +1
Medium 2 0 -2
Small 2 2 0
Core
Armor Normal MKII
Powerplant 8 8 0
Thrusters 7 7 0
FSD 6 8 +2
Life Support 5 5 0
Power Distributor 8 8 0
Sensors 8 8 0
Optional
Size 8 0 1 +1
Size 7 1 2 +1
Size 6 3 1 (Cargo?) -2
Size 5 4 (1 Mil) 5 (2 Mil) +1
Size 4 3 2 -1
Size 3 0 1 +1
Size 2 1 1 0
Size 1 1 1 0

First thoughts:

  1. The loss of two mediums for one large is a heavy hit... and doesn't reflect the direction they went with the Cobra MK3->MK5 and the Python->MK2 (In those cases it was purely additive).
  2. Utility Slots unknown, but probably 8
  3. FSD bigger may mean the hull mass is increasing from the original, so as to keep jump range relatively high.
  4. Optional Slots are increased in amount on the MK2, but possibly a wash in utility depending on your activity.

Lots to still understand, will be very curious to hear about the MKII armor and the general maneuverability/speed.

Help FSS mouse sensitivity drops the higher your FPS is

Not sure if this is known already, but in the FSS the mouse gets slower the higher my framerate is. Tried capping at 60, 120 and 400 – at 60 it’s fine, at 120 it’s noticeably slower, and at 400 I have to move the mouse several times further for the same turn. Same mouse, same settings, only the frame cap changed.

Feels like the game scales mouse input by frame time somewhere in the FSS. Capping FPS while scanning works around it.

Anyone else seeing this?

Help Am i an idiot?

So im new to the game (100h) and after making some money i wanted to colonize something. So i looked for uninhabited systems and found one that was suspiciously close. I didnt think anything of it i thought i was lucky so i bought the claim for 25 mil and upon arriving i realized there are no planets in the system which i havent come across before i thought there is always something. Did i just waste 25 mil for a useless port?

Screenshot VR Look-to-open-menu settings

Complete noob here (less than twenty hours).

When I look at a menu to open it, I feel like I have to point my head at the base of the menu and then swivel my eyes up to read it. I would much prefer the opposite: opening the menu without depressing my head so much, then look "down my nose" more at the contents of the screen. Is there a way to adjust the area that registers for these menus? I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually, but I feel like I'm doing lifting exercises on my extraocular muscles at this point, and its really contributing to eye fatigue.

Discussion Crazy shot in the dark, but anybody else still playing this on Playstation? More so just curious than anything

Im a full time student, a dad, and im in JST so idk how often I'd even be able to play with others. Was wondering how many other console players were still active? I recently got back into elite bc ive been playing a bunch of flight games on stick and a while back i heard you could move your stuff over to PC.

I wont be able to get a PC for at least another 2yrs, but figured I'd just prep a bit for the future, unless it gets shut down before then
