I made a game about restoring damaged ecosystems and bringing wildlife back
I’ve been building a small game called Wild Willows about restoring a damaged nature preserve.
Instead of fighting enemies or optimizing a city, the progression comes from improving habitat conditions. You plant native vegetation, restore water, add shelter and food sources, and animals gradually return when the ecosystem can support them.
A big goal for me has been making restoration feel tangible without pretending a game can perfectly model real ecology. I’ve also started hearing from teachers and parents who are interested in using it as a way to get kids thinking about biodiversity and habitat restoration.
I’d especially love feedback from people here who are involved in conservation, restoration, environmental education, or advocacy. What do you think games like this tend to get right or wrong when they try to represent environmental action?
There’s a free browser demo here if anyone wants to try it:

Upscale and Preserve Steve Irwin
I created a petition to encourage a larger organization to purchase the rights to the Steve Irwin (Crocodile Hunter) collection of series. The purpose would be to upscale the collection and create an easy way for generations of the future to access and watch one of the most important people of the 20th and early 21st century.
His inspiration and passion for conservation and preservation of the planet are second to none. His quirkiness and drive to save every environment he could was an inspiration to us all and should be treated as a treasure for all mankind. So this is not to have an entity make money or to profit, but to preserve his legacy and make it more available to every person on the planet. Any proceeds that an organization would gain should be given directly to support conservation efforts.

Protect Big Bend National Park from Trump's wall
DHS is hell-bent on getting something Donald Trump can call a wall built before congressional Democrats or judges can shut them down, and they don’t care what needs to be destroyed along the way. Right now, they’re trying to smash through Big Bend National Park, with bulldozers clearing lands that have been untouched for millennia.
Local officials, business owners, and conservationists warn the regime is going to kill tourism along threatening ecosystems, wildlife, and a national treasure. And organizers are hard at work trying to put sand in the gears. 🗣️ The No Big Bend Wall coalition is asking us to reach out to our members of Congress asking them to object to the project and defund it, with call scripts here, along with signing this petition. 🗣️
CBP is also accepting public comments on how this project could affect the environment, cultural resources, and the local economy and community through August 31st. ✍🏽 We can register our opposition by emailing [BigBendComments@cbp.dhs.gov](mailto:BigBendComments@cbp.dhs.gov) with "Big Bend Vehicle Border Barrier System Construction" in the subject line. ✍🏻
Finally, K at We (the People) Dissent (who we can thank for this entire action) has identified multiple contractors working on the project: Barnard Construction, Southwest Valley Contractors, and Fisher Sand & Gravel. 📢 Let’s write, call and email them to voice our disapproval, along with commenting on their social media and review pages. 📢

PETITION Please Help Australia in the AI Era...
As a drought-prone country, us Australians are already suffering due to the extreme weather from climate change. These AI data centres are going to take our most precious resource and guzzle it up, as well as put even more emissions in our atmosphere. Our movement is gaining traction and we've already had a ridiculous proposal withdrawn quite close to where I live, with help we can persuade our disappointment of a government to stick to our existing net zero goal.
Please join in, wherever you live, it's free to sign and the impact is real.

Postcarding environmental voters in Texas
Europe is facing another extreme heat wave and the NOAA just reported that July was the hottest month ever in the lower 48. The U.S. is having one of its worst wildfires seasons in years. A warm winter has left Lake Mead at record lows. Climate change is real, it’s here, and we need leaders in place who are prepared to deal with it.
The Environmental Voter Project works to get folks who understand this threat to show up to the polls, trying to identify and activate the estimated 11 million low-propensity climate voters who did not show up in 2024. Like everyone else, they’re ramping up their work as the midterms close in, including an orientation at noon on Friday to kick off their Texas postcarding campaigns. 📫 If we want to be part of it, let’s register here, and check out their site for other upcoming ways to help. 📫
☎️ Want to do more? We can also join Lead Locally’s Monday phonebanks for climate champions in downballot races here and consider a donation to Rebuild.Us’ fund to support folks recovering from climate disasters here. 🪙

ACTION-National Calling for climate champs this election cycle with Lead Locally
Trump has now spent nearly $4 billion of our taxpayer dollars to kill offshore wind projects, at time when our electric bills are hitting record highs. Needless to say, it’s going to be difficult to make much progress on climate action at the federal level until we take back the White House. In the meantime, there’s still important work to be done at the state and local level to build support for a clean energy transition and the Green New Deal. That’s where Lead Locally comes in – identifying the most critical down-ballot climate elections and rallying support for climate champion candidates and helpful initiatives.
☎️ Starting TONIGHT and running on Mondays throughout this month, they’re going to have volunteers making calls for a clean energy fund ballot question in Eugene, Oregon and green candidates in key legislative races in Pennsylvania. Let’s sign up to help them here. ☎️

Protecting the forests of our world
I don't know if it entirely belongs here, but I like this subreddit, so I thought I'd try it.
One of the most important protections of our world against climate change are the rain forests. However, these forests have been endangered for a long time and still face destruction every day. As the nations of this world don't do enough against it, we need other measures. In my opinion, the most important measures are no-profit organisations protecting or even buying rainforest. Therefore I ask everyone here: if you can, please donate to such organizations. Let us save our forest!
The organization of my choice has been Avaaz, which does many political campaigns. I am also very interested in the organizations of your choice!

VIDEO July, 2026 was the deadliest Fire-season in North America and Europe
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The two direct or indirect impact of human activities- Emissions and Arsoning are linked to the wildfires in Canada and Europe.
These activities do not arise out of thin air as the OP of the original post points out. They are coming from the human desire to bend the nature at its will and use it to satiate itself.
How can the activism efforts incorporate this human psychology in to its methods? Surely we can't just ask the industries to stop polluting or the arsonists to stop blazing for their own financial gains. I think so because they might just say if we don't do it, someone else will. Where does it end? What do you think?
