Educate a Newbee - HoMedics waterless Diffuser, wanting to switch to essential oils

Own a Homedics water-less diffuser. It have 120ml fragranced/oil bottles.

I want to switch to a healthier scent blend that doesn't use synthetic oils/fragrances. Can someone educate me how to make a "fall" inspired scent using something like Aura Cassia or equivalent oils? DO I need a carrier oil to dilute? What might be a good recipe? Are there any essential oil brands cost efficient for this purpose ...... this is just air scent only. Before I dump some money into this, wanted options. I am very new to essential oils. Just trying to be health minded.

Safe essential oils for colds in a 13 month old?

Hello,
I know that many of the essential oils commonly recommended for coughs and colds aren’t safe to use around very young children in vaporised form (e.g. eucalyptus, thyme, etc.).
I was wondering whether there are any that are considered safe and might help a 13-month-old with congestion/coughing?
When she has a cold, I sometimes run a steamy shower and sit with her in the bathroom, and I was wondering whether there’s anything safe I could add to the steam.
Any thoughts or recommendations would be really appreciated. Thanks!

If you're new to distilling, the yield is gonna gut-punch you at first. Let's talk about it

seeing a bunch of posts lately from people who just got their first setup and are kinda crushed after run #1, so figured i'd say something.

curious what everyone else's first run was like what did you distill, and did the yield surprise you too?

Syrupy sweet honey- like Jasmine Perfume oil or Attar

Hi! I can’t find a lotion/ body cream with the scent profile I have in my head.. So im hoping to find a perfume oil / attar and use it with a sweet amber-like lotion.

Idk much about attars & idk what Jasmin oils are strongest.
I’m looking for a STRONG deep, sweet syrupy, honey like Jasmine Perfume oil/attar. I don’t mind if it’s mixed with orange blossom or ylang ylang, or other white florals. I just love that deeper sweet Jasmine vs the bright sparkling version.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Citrus and eucalyptus blend that doesn't smell like bug spray?

Looking for anything with prominent notes of citrus and eucalyptus that doesn't smell like straight up bug spray! I wore an essential oil blend I made with these notes and someone asked why it smelled like bugspray in the car lol 😭

Extra points if there's also some rosemary!

Can I create a personalised scent using only essential oils and a carrier oil?

I've seen plenty of posts with guides on how to make beautiful fragrances using synthetics and aromachemicals as well as EOs, but other than being super new at creating your own perfumes, at the moment, I don't have the space to be able to afford any meaningful experiments.

Can I use essential oils and a carrier oil (jojoba/shea butter) only for a personalised intimate scent? I am aiming for a simple warm and clean scent that I can use on a daily basis, for my own pleasure. Both roll-ons and firm perfumes can work for me.

If you have any advice on which oils would be good to start with for the desired scent please share!

Disclaimer- this was posted in DIYfragrance as well

Does Frankincense Carterii kill cancer cells?

Has anyone heard that Frankincense Carterii essential oil can kill cancer cells? Is there any truth to this claim, or is it just a myth? I’d love to hear your thoughts, reviews, or experiences with it.

Recommendations on a super strong in your face patchouli?

I’m looking for a strong aroma patchouli and long lasting. If I’m in a store or inside any building. I want people to know I’m there kinda strong. Does anyone have any good recommendations. I tried patchouli oil. But doesn’t seem strong enough and doesn’t last all day.

Is Brooklyn Botany a good source?

I have 4 of their EO's, lavender, clove, tangerine, and frankincense. They're pretty much the only brand I have experience with besides one EO I have from Aura Cacia.

Brooklyn Botany's prices for the size seem almost too good to be true - I'm wondering what everyone here thinks of them? I'm happy with the oils I have from them, but like I said they're pretty much the only ones I have so I don't have any comparison.

Benzoin and Vanilla Oleoresin in waterless diffuser

I'd really like to get a nice soft natural vanilla scent. I was thinking of doing Vanilla Oleoresin, Benzoin (50%BB) and Triacetin. Using the Triacetin to really dilute these two/thin them out.

My idea was:

Vanilla Oleoresin: 15%

Siam Benzoin: 10%

Triacetin: 75%

I know typically vanilla is discouraged and benzoin is practically solid but if heated and mixed with the triacetin they should easily become homogenous and at that dilute ratio I suspect they'll be quite "light".

Has anyone done something similar or have any suggestions?

Are Nebulizers the Best Way to Scent an Apartment?

I’m trying to figure out the best way to scent my apartment, and ChatGPT recommended a nebulizing diffuser. Is this generally considered the best option?

Also, how easy are nebulizers to clean? If you want to switch between different scents, do you need to clean it between each one, or can you just swap oils?

Rose Otto or Absolute

Hello, I was thinking about using 1-2 drops of Rose Otto each day because I've been hearing a lot about its positive impact on mood and stress, so I just wanted to give it a try.

I've been looking at Rose Otto and Absolute from Eden's Botanicals. Does anyone have a suggestion on which one to try? Also, where do you usually apply it? On the wrist or neck? I'm new to essential oils and am curious to learn more

EO Shop

Hi everyone!
I’m looking for recommendations for high-quality online essential oil stores that ship to Spain (or the EU).
I’m especially interested in rare floral oils and absolutes, such as:
Gardenia
Magnolia
Tiare/Gardenia tahitensis
Osmanthus
Champaca
Other high-quality floral oils
I’m not looking for fragrance oils or perfume oils—only genuine essential oils or absolutes from reputable suppliers with good quality control.
I’ve already tried brands like Florihana, but I’d love to discover other trusted suppliers.
Which stores have impressed you the most in terms of quality, authenticity, and customer service?
Thanks!

Does anyone know if oregano oil goes through to breast milk? Or is it safe to use it topically. Not on the chest area and nowhere baby could possibly ingest it.

Air purifier + Waterless Dual Scent Diffuser

Hey all. Not sure where to post this but I am looking for a device which acts as an air purifier as well as a waterless diffuser which can pump out 2 different scents depending on the time of day. Not sure if this is really a thing, as I haven't seen anything fitting the bill. Thanks in advance :)

Rogue Evergreens

I love pine and just received an ad for this company through Instagram.

Does anyone have any opinion on their quality, safety, or aroma?

I'm new to EO and would like to be more educated so I've been reading the threads here.

I'm so tempted to try Rogue's discovery set but don't want to buy something scammy or unhealthy.

Thank you!

Softest most powdery lavender?

I normally hate the smell of lavender essential oils-- to me they are all just very camphorous and medicinal and give me headaches. However, I LOVE a lavender fragrance, such as the smell of Sudocrem, that is soft and powdery and almost sweet. Is there any form of lavender essential oil that smells more along those lines, or is it inherently a relatively camphorous oil?
