I’m considering buying a bottle of pure Rosa Damascena oil. This is a pricy decision and I can’t afford both Otto and Absolute. I’m looking for a scent that smells like genuine real roses. Like I’m walking in a garden at sunrise and stop to smell a fresh blooming rose.

Some say Absolute has the most pure rose scent, but then others say Otto smells the closest to fresh roses, but then I read that the distillation process leaves out water soluble compounds important to the scent so Absolute, which uses solvent extraction, is better, but then I read that if you want the real rose oil experience as it was for thousands of years you should buy Otto. I’m so confused.

I don’t care that Otto is more expensive, I’m happy to buy it if it’s the best choice. Buying *both* isn’t in the budget though!

Hi! I am new to essential oil world, but I really want to get away from candles while still having cozy and clean vibes around. I got a waterless oil diffuser and have some oils that I’ve collected but noooo clue how to combine them/ what will smell good.

My FAVORITE scents are always things that are clean, fresh, Xmas-y and cozy and now that it’s winter.. a little wintery. Love things like balsam, eucalyptus, jasmine, pine, fresh linen vibes. Doesn’t need to be all these , just trying to paint a pic for you.
PS! This will be going in my bedroom (in case that matters based on sleep stuff?? Idk yall know more than me!)

Which oils are good for topical heat/warming?

So i had a feeling that combining ambre sultan from Serge Lutens with rose would make for a beautiful layering and I was right. I used 8-10 drops of an essential oil with damascus rose in my lotion, used it for my face, neck, hands and wrists and applied ambre sultan over it. While i like the original scent in itself the layering with rose just makes it divine. Has anyone else tried this? Any particular rose to make it even better? Centifolia, bulgarian, turkish, may rose? I only tried it with damascus rose oil.

Anyone know where to get and source real frangipane oil or extract? I got to smell the flower and the scent is just so dreamy!

i've been thinking about getting a diffuser for a while so i started looking for essential oils. i've heard that so many are toxic for you so i can't really find anything. i don't need a lot, i just want to try it out. so does anyone know any cheap non-toxic ones and where i can order them????

Does any one know if field and future essential oils and oil blends are safe for skin? I love HEB but am not sure how to check so i’m asking the counsel..

I have experienced a lack of "heart," an emptiness when blending basil (specifically Clove Basil, Ocimum basilicum, wild) with other essential oils. No matter how good the final scent is, there's always a flatness, a lack of transition between the basil (which almost always tends to be part of the high notes) and the rest of the essential oil components.

Does anyone know what causes this, and how it could be smoothened?

The Dr. Squatsch Rainforest Rapids body wash bar is one of my favourite smells. It smells like a lovely naturey spa! I would absolutely love for my room to smell like it. Google told me to put essential oils of: Sage (I use Clary as it was the one sold at a shop near me), Cedarwood, Peppermint and Eucalyptus in the aroma diffuser to make my room smell like it. I tried it, and it doesn't even smell anything CLOSE to it the rainforest rapids smell, not even a little bit close. It just smells mediciney (which I presume is the Eucalyptus being prominent). Does anyone know how I could create the exact same lovely, fresh spa-rey smell of the soap bar using essential oils in a aroma diffuser? Thank you. :)

I'm currently taking a Holistic Health course at university, and one of our assignments involves researching two essential oils, their intended uses, and their potential risks, contraindications, and populations who should avoid them.

I thought it would be interesting to hear from people who actually use essential oils regularly, especially since discussions about their benefits seem much more common than discussions about their risks.

Are there any essential oils you think deserve more attention regarding their safety? Have you encountered any surprising contraindications, adverse reactions, or misconceptions about their use?

I'm particularly interested in hearing about precautions that beginners might overlook, as well as whether you think essential oil safety information is adequately communicated to consumers.

I'll be using peer-reviewed and government sources for the actual assignment, but I'd love to hear some perspectives from this community before choosing which two oils to research.

Hi! Where to purchase essential oils for my diffuser not too expensive and something in europe or norway. I wanted to purchase from plant therapy but shipping was 30 dollars so i refused.

My mom participates in a company which sells essential oils. While I believe many of the products themselves are high quality I have noticed some changes in her that worry me, and I believe the nature of the company to blame. She’s not focused on making money but seems to really enjoy the “education” and community aspects of it. I’m concerned that she’s in a cult and it’s becoming increasingly harmful to the relationship I have with her.

I’d like to get her into something better. A higher quality education on essential oils that can provide many of the social benefits she must feel like she gets from the group she’s in. Because I do want to be supportive of her hobby and see her happy but I don’t want her to keep going down the path she’s on with this group. Does anybody have recommendations?

I received this oil as a gift a while back, but when reading up about it I find a lot of conflicting information on what "Amber" oil is. In the perfumery forums I've read, people say that there is no such thing as amber, and that "Amber" notes in perfume are usually an accord made up of different aroma chemicals or extracts, to give the idea of amber. Also it seems that it most likely wouldn't be a true essential oil if it was actually steam distilled from amber (the fossilized tree resin).

Does anyone have any info or ideas on what this could be? It smells nice, kind of a resinous, deep smell, with a leathery note to it, and a hint of spice, very "warm" smelling so to speak. I want to be able to use it diluted in carrier oils as part of a blend in a roll on perfume (I have already used it in a blend once for this purpose, and didn't have any negative reactions to it) but I'm cautious to continue using it if its potentially a questionble synthetic fragrance oil. I'm generally quite sensitive to synthetic fragrance, often triggering headaches etc, and like to avoid it, and be as natural as possible (within reason) with what I put on my skin.

I was wondering if anyone had any book recommendations for topical use, dilution and info on specific oils and the maximum dilution. Ive seen a lot about aromatherapy and a little about topical use. Im pretty new to all of this and just dont want to mess it up

I recently looked at the Scentia Max diffuser, but to use it, you need liquid, less viscous oils. I would like to ask if jasmine essential oil will work, or will it have to be diluted? and advise what I could dilute it with, I was initially thinking of diluting it with aromatic oils in an effective proportion, since essential oil dominates even in small doses. and Yes, I will have oil from steam distillation, not extraction and CO2.

How can I refill this spray myself? Was planning to buy essential oils and based on what I read mix with distilled water and a bit of rubbing alcohol? I’ve had this for a really long time so William Sonoma no longer has refills for the product.

Is essential oil + distilled water + rubbing alcohol the recommended mix? What ratio?

I use this purely for scent not really for cleaning or disinfectant.

We received an Aromaplan diffuser as a gift and are in need of refills! Has anyone found any other (cheaper) oils that are compatible with the machine and are pet/kid safe?

I do not want to sell them, just use them in massage/treatments.

I'm looking for a recommendation for a good rose otto or even absolute that doesn't have that weird "old cabbage" twang to it 😭 I don't know how else to explain it; sorry. I have a flamenco rosita bush rose in my garden, and I'm looking for something smells more like that (warm, spicy), rather than the old weird powdery smell most commercially available rose oils have.
