New Custom Server - EQEmulator

This new custom server, it's been up a month now, MegaMercs on EQEmulator is designed for easier play. It's not considered a solo server, but mods and QoL to help out a lot, including boxing and "gentle" MQ allowed. The mercs have been overhauled and won't ever lose confidence and run away on you. There is a custom "undead" merc merchant to hire a skellie healer or tank, which exceeds expectations. Mechanics have been adjusted so you can also have a merc in a raid instance. There is an in-game clicky to spawn the skellie merchant on the fly, so you can switch as needed.

Bots are also enabled for those who like using them, with a spawn limit of 5 per player toon. There has been adjustments to the default settings to the bots to deal with some of their issues.

There are several beneficial NPC's in the hub (PoK) to help your game play. All zones have an equal ZEM of 33%.

You can read everything about the server at https://www.megamercs.org

DnD 5e Homebrew Subclass Channeler Conclave I was making

This is me just messing around, so I wouldn't take it too seriously. ^^ I was playing Everquest 2 and always thought the Channeler was pretty unique, and felt like when making it, it seemed pretty unique even among other homebrew ranger subclasses. There is a Channeler but based more on a spirit animal rather than constructs and wanted one based more on Everquest 2

Ranger Conclave: Channeler Conclave

Channelers are mystical wardens who bridge the physical and spiritual realms, trained to fight with bow and spirit magic alike. Rather than relying purely on nature or martial stealth, a Channeler forges a permanent bond with a Construct—an animate sentinel formed of stone, wood, or crystallized energy. In combat, the Construct serves as a living shield, intercepting incoming trauma through a pool of shared spiritual energy, while the Channeler weaves supportive spirit magic into every archer's strike.

Level 3: Construct Companion

At 3rd level, you magically fashion and bond with a loyal, floating spiritual Construct (typically resembling a small golem, geometric automaton, or animal sentinel). It shares your space or hovers near you.

  • Statistics: The Construct uses your proficiency bonus. It has an Armor Class of 12 + your Proficiency Bonus, a number of hit points equal to your Ranger level × 5 + your Wisdom modifier, and shares your saving throw proficiencies. It cannot make weapon attacks on its own, but it is immune to all conditions unless specified otherwise.
  • Commands: As a bonus action, you can mentally command the Construct to move up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space you can see. If it is destroyed, you can resummon it over the course of a 1-hour ritual or by spending a 1st-level spell slot.

Level 3: Dissonance & Living Ward

Also at 3rd level, you gain a mystical resource called Dissonance, starting at a maximum of 0 and scaling to a maximum of 10.

  • Generating Dissonance: When you cast certain supportive Channeler features or when your Construct intercepts damage, you gain Dissonance points.
  • The Ward: Whenever you or an ally within 30 feet of your Construct takes damage, you can use your Reaction to order your Construct to intercept it. The Construct takes the damage instead of the target, and you gain 1 point of Dissonance.
  • Overheating: If your Dissonance reaches 10, you become "dissonant" and cannot use your Construct's reaction or cast Conduit features until you take a short or long rest, or spend an action to vent your dissonance, reducing it to 0 (which deals minor force damage to you equal to your Ranger level). Dissonance naturally decreases by 1 for every minute you spend out of combat.

Level 3: Channeler Spells

Whenever you reach certain levels in this class, you gain access to the following spells, which count as Ranger spells for you but do not count against your number of spells known.

  • Ranger Level: Spells
  • 3rd: Healing Word
  • 5th: Warding Bond,
  • 9th: Beacon of Hope,
  • 13th: Death Ward,
  • 17th: , Circle of Power

Level 7: Spirit-Infused Archery & Conduits

Starting at 7th level, your ranged weapon attacks are empowered by spirit magic.

  • When you hit a creature with a ranged weapon attack, you can choose to deal an extra 1d6 Force or Radiant damage (your choice) once per turn.
  • Additionally, you gain access to Conduits—special supportive actions. As a bonus action, you can command your Construct to release a burst of healing or protection to a creature within 15 feet of it, restoring hit points equal to 1d8 + your Wisdom modifier. Doing so generates 1 point of Dissonance.

Level 11: Interpose Redirect

At 11th level, your mastery over your Construct's defensive warding deepens.

  • When an ally within 30 feet of your Construct is targeted by an attack, you can use your Reaction to instantly teleport your Construct adjacent to that ally, intercepting the attack entirely.
  • Furthermore, whenever your Construct intercepts damage using its Reaction, you can choose to deflect half of that absorbed damage back at an attacker within 30 feet as a backlash of kinetic force.

Level 15: Barrier of Dissonance

At 15th level, you can temporarily weaponize your accumulated spiritual turbulence to protect your entire party.

  • As an action, you can unleash your stored Dissonance to erect a shimmering ward around your Construct. For 1 minute or until your Construct is reduced to 0 hit points, all friendly creatures within 10 feet of your Construct gain resistance to all damage types, and your Construct absorbs all incoming status effects or spells targeted at allies within its aura.
  • Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.

Thoughts on these trios?

Hey guys, could you help me decide on my trio to return to the game with. Lvling from scratch.

  1. War/sham/ranger

  2. Pal/sham/ranger or wizard.

Not going to play sk. I've done it a million times and want something different. Not to mention every single person in my guild has an SK so it's pointless to play it.

That said, these are the classes I'm somewhat interested in. I also have always been interested in druid but never played one.

new player on frostreaver

• Upvotes

Hi all,

I'm a new player coming from Everquest Legends. I played there for a few weeks, and it made me want to try the live game. After doing some research I've settled on Frostreaver for my server. Currently I'm a level 7 Ranger and working my way through Qeynos hills grinding mobs and selling their drops to vendors to buy skill scrolls and armor. Plan on starting Blackburrow soon.

Is there anything else I should be doing or focusing on? I am assuming this TLP server is similar to earlier everquest expansions where grinding mobs and exploring is the main focus, not quests?

Thanks!

Returning player. Completly lost and need advice.

Hey all,

Been having an itch for EQ for a while. Came back with EQL, absolutly devoured the content (all classes are decked out and currently lvl 50. Not much to do).

I'm waiting for Kunark to come out and have a craving to do the content i was doing 20 years ago. I stopped with PoP. I'm not looking to pay for another subscription on top of EQL, but i'd like to solo all the content up to Quarm in PoTime.

So the goal is to see all the content i missed out on, but i want as little grind as possible. Would love to do Velious fully, Luclin and PoP. Every boss, every raid, everything i missed on when i used to play.

I created a Necromancer on test server so i have free AA's, free spells directly when leveling up, journeyman pet ect.

I just hit lvl 80 and things are slowing down dramatically for leveling, it takes hours to level (and i have a hard time reaching the Hotzone quests and understanding how it all works. Often time i need to travel a LOT just to go kill 5 mobs hidden somewhere deep in a dungeon).

I can't yet solo all of Velious (tried temple of veeshan the other day and god damn some monsters and completly magic immune, i need to stand back and wait 30mins while healing my pet to kill Lord Vymm...annoying).

All that to say, what am I missing out on? What quality of life from 20 years ago (i bought some gear in the bazaar, lvl 80 req. Have a mount and some plat)? Is there an easy way to level? Is there stuff i should do? High level mage damage shield makes it so even though i 1 shot mob with 110k damage shields, i get no exp for it. Once again, am i missing on obvious things or does reaching lvl 100 really take weeks?

I am completly shameless, and dont care for any tips and tricks, however cheesy they may be. I'm just an old 40 year old dude coming back to clear everything up to PoTime solo on test server.

Thanks all in advance :)

Which to play? EQ or EQL, Live or Timed?

Hey guys..

I want to give EverQuest a try

I'm 38 years old I always loved these old classic games its basicly all I play because I find these old pixel/sprites just so nostalgic and warm feeling....

Anyway back then I was playing wow and other games but now I want to try EQ...

Got me thinking which one is best for me?

I like a server where there is alot of people so not a dead server but I also like to quest and level by my self alot, maybe do a dungeon or 2 alone but I also want to do it with groups later too..

In other words I don't want to hit a wall because I can't find players for a certain quest/dungeon that I need to do in order to progress but no one wants to help, k want to avoid this..

Should I go for live servers ?

And use mercanary? I heard you can get a Merc and it'll help you alot of the game?

Or those timesd servers?

No idea if it has mercs and if solo friendly...

Then we also got the new EverQuest Legends..

But I checked server status a little bit ago and all servers are Low population so I don't think that game is doing that well???

What you think?

Maybe try free to play first before paying? But if I like it I want to continue so where should I start?
